At the hands of France’s Benjamin Bonzi, former world no. 1 Daniil Medvedev suffered a shocking first-round defeat at Wimbledon.
Medvedev had made it to the Wimbledon semifinals for the previous two years, but the Russian’s attempt to reclaim the title came to an abrupt halt on Monday when the world number 64 defeated the Russian.
In scorching weather on Court Two, Bonzi defeated ninth-seeded Medvedev 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2).

Medvedev, a six-time Grand Slam champion, has had a disappointing year at the majors, falling short of his Wimbledon flop in the first round and the second round of the Australian Open.
The 29-year-old, who won the US Open in 2021, defeated top-seeded Jannik Sinner last year in the Wimbledon quarterfinals before falling to defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals.
“This is my first top-10 slam victory.” It’s obvious that this tournament is always unique,” Bonzi said.
Daniil is a great player, and I love this place, which makes it so special. Here, he has advanced to the semifinals twice.
Although I was aware that it would be a difficult match, it might be preferable to play this type of player in the first round. I’m very pleased with the victory because anything can happen.

Oasis have arrived in Cardiff in preparation for Noel and Liam Gallagher’s dazzling reunion tour, which will finally begin there. Before their headline performance on Friday night, the once-twinkling brothers can now be heard on stage at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
Fans near the stadium audibly heard Cigarettes and Alcohol blasting out of the stadium as they prepared for one of the most biblical reunions in music history. The band’s return to form several months ago, starting the jamming process, has set the stage for the first world tour. In May, the band’s first images of rehearsals in London were released. Noel Gallagher, Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, Gem Archer, and Andy Bell, who will play guitar in the crowded venues, were shown, along with Andy on bass. Liam joined on June 3 after initially taking vocal rest.
Christian Madden, a keyboardist, and Joey Waronker, a drummer, both join the band on drums. He has previously performed on tour with Liam, but never with Oasis. On July 4 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, Noel and Liam will take to the stage for the first time since the band split nearly 20 years ago. As part of the tour, dates will be held in Dublin, London, and Manchester. A source who spoke about the performances told us that the boys will perform some songs inside the venue as well because it is a new lineup and it is such a big first show.
Oasis is already present in Cardiff (Rowan Griffiths/Daily Mirror).
Some tours begin with a smaller show, while others take a week or two to regain their momentum. However, there is no such thing as a night in the life, and Liam and Noel want that to happen frequently. They are taking this enormous comeback show very seriously. It all points to a fantastic comeback tour.
Since the rehearsals began, fans have since reacted in the form of “the calm before the storm.” Oh my God, no one can really hate this Noel & Liam because they weren’t lying when they said they sounded dangerous, one tweet later.
Another person remarked, “Oh my Christ.” A fourth poem, “OMG this is happening! “, was written in the same vein. Noel, 57, left the Manchester rock band on August 28, 2009, saying he “poised to go on working with Liam a day longer.” The brothers had been making disparaging remarks about one another for more than ten years.
That all changed when the tour was announced in August of last year. The pair exchanged several photos to confirm the band’s long-awaited reunion on Tuesday, saying, “The great wait is over.
On Friday (Johannes Leonardo/Adidas), Noel and Liam will take to the stage in front of the audience.
In a new poll released in April, Live Forever by Oasis was named the band’s most coveted British song ever ahead of their eagerly awaited reunion tour this summer.
Noel and Liam Gallagher’s Manchester band placed 16 incredible tracks in Radio X’s top 100 results. The top 10 also included “Don’t Look Back In Anger,” “Slide Away,” and “Champaign Supernova.”
The 10th annual Best of British contest featured B& and a Q poll on Radio X. Richard Ashcroft and Cast, who are band friends, will also be playing in the new live performances. In a new book, Noel discusses the Oasis Live 25 tour and broke his silence.
Noel told photographer Kevin Cummins, “I thought it’d be a big deal, but I was surprised by how much of a big deal it was,” referring to the demand for tickets.
He was also asked which Oasis song he preferred, which might give us a sense of the tour’s set list. Can I have more than one, he asked? Rock’n’Roll Star, Some Might Say, Live Forever, and Supersonic are just a few examples. After seeing Liam and Noel back together in the new Adidas advertisement in June, fans were inspired to see Oasis.
The Oasis anthem Live Forever can be heard in the promo video, which features scenes reminiscent of early Oasis gigs with fans sporting new Adidas gear and the band logo. At the start of the Knebworth concerts, giant Adidas footballs that had been kicked out were also visible.
There was a tambourine that once struck ice, and Liam could be heard saying, “There are days when you are in the zone, you know what I mean.” You simply remain completely silent as a result of the chaos that surrounds you. Simply put, this feeling is the best in the world, without the need to participate in it. Simply remain completely still.
Then, as the final scene of the commercial showed them reunited and posing together, Liam and Noel could be seen preparing to play a concert on stage.

After being hospitalized with “severe pneumonia,” former UFC fighter Ben Askren has undergone a “double lung transplant.”
After a brief appearance in the UFC, Askren, 40, abruptly retired from MMA in 2019.
In addition to being on the transplant waiting list, Askren was earlier this month admitted to a hospital in Wisconsin.
His wife Amy reported that Amy’s husband was “completely healthy just five weeks ago” on Facebook.
The donor and his family are forever in our hearts. Ben has just begun a new lifestyle, but she said, “Every day he has a gift,” she said.
“I’m hoping Ben will be able to give the next update in the coming weeks, but I’m hoping he won’t wait until the drugs are gone.”
Askren won the welterweight title in Bellator and the ONE Championship, and he is regarded as one of the greatest American wrestlers of his generation.
Before joining the MMA ranks, Askren was a two-time national champion in wrestling and a member of the 2008 American Olympic team.
When Askren signed for the UFC in 2019, in what was a unique MMA move, he was unbeaten in 20 fights.
Demetrious Johnson, the UFC’s flyweight champion, traded For Askren for ONE Championship.
It was a huge shock at the time in 2018 because it is the only “trade” that has ever occurred in major MMA.
Askren, who made his UFC debut against Robbie Lawler, lost to Demian Maia and Jorge Masvidal, who were wildly popular.
Just one week after confirming the devastating loss of her third child, Kelly Parker has since made a second appearance on social media to celebrate the birthday of her daughter.

Kelsey Parker has paid tribute to her daughter Aurelia on her sixth birthday, just days after revealing the heartbreaking loss of her unborn baby boy.
The mum-of-two, who lost her husband Tom Parker in 2022, returned to Instagram with a touching montage of Aurelia’s first six years, including a moment of her as a baby being cradled by her late dad.
According to her, “Aurelia means “The Golden One,” and that is who you are. You’ve been through a lot, my sweet daughter, but any mummy would want you to be the most special little girl.
She continued, “I’m so happy we got to spend this weekend celebrating your birthday and putting on another year of a lot.” I’m incredibly proud of you and the amazing young woman you are becoming.” Aurelia was the most adorable little girl with a heart of gold, according to one user, who shared her sweet comments on Kelly’s upload.

A second later said, “Happy birthday, gorgeous girl.” Georgia Jones, Danny Jones’ wife, said, “Happy birthday to the cutest little diva I know.” “Happy birthday to the most special little girl.” “I want to show you all how much I love you all,” said one.

The video came after Kelsey shared that her third child, a baby boy named Phoenix, was sadly stillborn just a week before his due date.
In a moving poem, she wrote: “The world grew quiet as you arrived, so loved, so longed for, yet not alive… Born with wings, took silent flight.”
No breath, no eyes, no memories, but you mean everything to me as we travel softly near, with each sigh, every tear, according to the poem, which was shared alongside a photo of a memory box.

Kelsey later thanked followers for their support and love and later announced that she was stepping aside from social media to process the pain privately.
Messages of love poured in, with Kate Ferdinand writing: “Oh Kelsey, I’m so sorry. You’ve been through so much as a family already, this feels so unfair.”
Tom Parker died after a battle with cancer(Image: being_kelsey/Instagram)
Since losing Tom, who was just 33 when he passed away from brain cancer, Kelsey has openly discussed grief, healing, and the challenging road ahead, including finding love with new partner Will Lindsay.
However, the path has not been straightforward. Kelsey made an appearance on Lorraine in March, confessing that she had been criticized for moving on despite that three years had passed since Tom’s passing.

She said, “I’m always going to feel guilty.” What do people want me to do because Tom is no longer here, though? She continued, “Our house used to be filled with so much sadness, but now it’s filled with joy.” More than anything, the kids deserve that.

Although Jeff Bezos and his new wife Lauren Sanchez may have had the ideal wedding day in Venice, not everyone was pleased with the expense.
Jeff Bezos’ mega £40million Venice wedding has been slammed by many(Image: AFP via Getty Images)
Georgia Toffolo has aimed a dig at Jeff Bezos and his mega-money wedding – months after she tied the knot to her millionaire boyfriend.
This weekend, the Amazon mogul and his wife Lauren Sanchez got engaged in Venice, according to reports that the wedding cost close to £40 million. The businessman, 61, who is the third richest man in the world with an estimated £177 billion, said “I do” without any expense, making the enthralling statement “I do” everywhere.
Georgia – who married former BrewDog CEO James Watt in a modest bash back in March – was taking questions from her followers on Instagram and she clearly believes that the money could have been used better elsewhere. The former I’m A Celebrity campmate was asked by one fan: “What do you think about the Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez wedding?'”
She responded, “OK, each has its own, and I know there are so many brides who want big days out and are dreaming big.” However… I’d have a terrible idea if they had instead given away the £50+ million (how on earth would you even spend that on a weekend) they’ve raised for charities. That would have been the most innovative and cool invention ever.

Georgia and James started dating in 2023 and got engaged in October when the millionaire, 42, popped the question during a romantic trip to Greece to mark the former Made In Chelsea star’s 30th birthday. They got hitched in Gardenstown, in the county of Aberdeenshire in North East Scotland, taking their vows in the same church James’s grandparents were married in.
Georgia (also known as Toff) announced: “James and I got married today. The day I became your wife on March 1 will forever be my life’s greatest day. We “eloped”! She continued, “whoever could get here with 48 hours notice” was on the guest list, and she mentioned that a second wedding bash was on the horizon. “We will celebrate with you soonest, to our family and friends who aren’t with us.”
The pair both shared some rather unconventional wedding photos, including one ofJames dressed in fishing waders and another showing Georgia – dressed in a cream, off-the-shoulder fleece dress – clutching some freshly-caught lobsters.
It was a low key even compared to what we saw this weekend in Italy. Guests included Oprah Winfrey, who looked stunning in a burnt orange outfit that came complete with feathered sleeves. Others invited included Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Kim and Khloe Kardashian and Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio, who were also pictured making their way to the old shipyard, the Arsenale.
According to reports, there were 200 invited guests, and Lady Gaga and Sir Elton John were among the performers. And while the happy couple and their guests thoroughly enjoyed the festivities, it seems not everyone was happy that the Italian city had been completely booked out by the retail giant.
Armed with banners that read “If you can rent Venice for your wedding, you can pay more tax,” an estimated 700 demonstrators gathered at Santa Lucia train station.
The No Space For Bezos group is alleged to have organized the demonstration. A few group members were spotted carrying Amazon boxes with the words “ordered, shipped, delivered, rejected” written on them.
Despite the interruptions, the couple’s happy course did not appear to change as a result. Jeff and Lauren’s marriage to date is reportedly their second, and they have seven children.

Ice packs, cold towels, and plenty of water were provided to help players regulate their temperature during changeovers.
While spectators tried to shade themselves with hats, umbrellas, and even towels, while other ball boys and girls used hand-held fans to cool themselves down, both were given cooling scarves.
The 2015 tournament record was 35.7C, which is the highest temperature ever recorded during the event.
When determining the appropriate application of the heat rule, Wimbledon organizers use the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) heat index, which combines air temperature, humidity, and surface temperature readings.
Players are permitted to leave the court during the break, which occurs after the second set for all best-of-three set matches and after the third for all best-of-five set matches.
Following a 15-minute break in the decisive set, when a sun-sitting spectator became ill, Carlos Alcaraz’s five-set victory over Fabio Fognini came to an end.
Alcaraz, the defending champion who had been waiting for four and a half hours, reached out and gave the victim a bottle of cold water to aid their recovery.
Cameron Norrie, the third-ranked Britishman, was unhappy with the temperature of the court’s water.
“I tried my best, and it was really important to keep the bottles cold because the bottles provided do not do that.” I needed to bring a little thermal device, Norrie said.
“A few times, I requested warm water to be filled up. Amazing, but it was difficult because they did a really good job with the ice towels.

Following Monday’s peak, when temperatures reached a high of over 30C in the majority of the nation, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and the Met Office issued an amber heat-health alert until Tuesday.
Dr. Agostinho Sousa, head of extreme events and health protection for the UKHSA, said: “Our findings show that heat, especially at the temperatures we are likely to see this week, can seriously affect the health of all people, especially those who are older or those who have pre-existing health conditions.”
Sally Bolton, the chief executive of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, stated before the start of Monday’s match that Wimbledon was “ready for this hot weather.”
The players have a “typical” level of competition in these kinds of climates. They have access to a heat rule that we’ll put into place, according to Bolton.
We’re giving the same advice to fans who are attending, those Brits who are a little less accustomed to these kinds of temperatures: wear a hat, light clothing, sunscreen, and keep yourself hydrated.
There is plenty of water available because there are more than 100 water points all around the ground. Please take good care of one another as well. Take some time away from the sun – we’re all aware that this is your chance to watch some incredible tennis, but it’s actually advisable to take some.

More than 10,000 people waited for day one due to the high temperatures, but the All England Club issued a warning to people to stop traveling.
Ons Jabeur, who had previously won the Wimbledon twice, had to withdraw from her first-round contest.
The Tunisian had her blood pressure checked and an ice towel wrapped around her neck during a medical timeout in the first set.
She made a decision to leave after leading 7-6 (7-5) 2-0 to Bulgaria’s Viktoriya Tomova in a match that started at 11:00 BST.
The players’ opinions on the temperature varied.
After her opening three-set victory over Jelena Ostapenko, British tennis star Sonay Kartal declared, “I’m not going to lie, it was pretty hot. I believe I made a rookie error by not changing my clothes at the end of the first set.
“I had ice towels, cold drinks, and stuff,” I said. I wouldn’t say that I was too affected. Without wind or rain, it was nice to play. It’s a good first day, in my opinion.
American Frances Tiafoe once said, “Honestly, I didn’t feel that hot out there.” It was very hot. I was sweating, but I didn’t really feel that hot, I must admit.
I don’t know if wearing all white, but I didn’t really feel hot. In the heat of the day, I’ll travel to [the Washington] Open and play there, where there’s no pretending. That will be extremely hot.
German Eva Lys, who also advanced through her first-round match, said: “It was] difficult. Really, really tough. My racquet was very slippery because I was extremely sweating.
“It’s my first time playing on grass with heat.” It really hurts my legs, in my opinion. Particularly in the third set, I experienced this. I believe the spectators had a difficult time adjusting to the heat, and I believe everyone is currently having a hard time.
Similar weather is expected for Tuesday, according to BBC Weather’s senior meteorologist, George Goodfellow, who predicts “dry, sunny, and very hot again, with only a very slight breeze at most.”
“The high will likely be comparable to today, above 30C,” Goodfellow continued. At Kew Gardens, which is closest to Wimbledon, we’re going with 33C.
