Both teams are expected to resume their cases as soon as Tuesday as Sean “Diddy” Combs’ highly public trial approaches its high-profile trial.
The jury will be tasked with deciding the fate of the music mogul, who faces life in prison, if found guilty, on Thursday for closing arguments, which are tentatively scheduled to start.
The defense’s 34th and last witnesses are currently on the stand, and they said on Monday that they do not intend to call their own witnesses for testimony in Manhattan federal court.
The prosecution is tasked with proving guilt, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless jurors decide otherwise, so it’s not unusual for defense teams to choose not to proceed with a case.

In an effort to impose his dominance on an organization made up of high-ranking employees, including those who bribed, arson, and kidnapping, Combs and his allies used a web of witnesses, phone records, and travel arrangements to support his case for seven weeks of testimony.
The artist and businessman allegedly trafficked men and women for “freak-offs” or “hotel nights” of drug-fueled sexual marathons, sometimes days-long ones, for the prosecution.
Jurors have watched a number of sexually explicit videos during some of the events, and some of them were recorded.
Government attorneys are compiling reams of text messages and other records for jurors to review, along with photos of dozens of freak-offs, which they claim also reveal prostitution and trafficking arrangements.
The 55-year-old denies the accusations.
No defense defense witnesses?
The defense’s choice to not summon witnesses may indicate that they believe their inquiries into government witnesses may have exposed enough of a Combs case.
It could also indicate that no witnesses have been contacted to provide assistance.
They did state that they would be preparing to testify before resting on some matters.
What the prosecution has called sex trafficking, according to Combs’ attorneys, was mutual.
Three women gave detailed accounts of terrifying abuse that ranged from sexual to physical to emotional.
In a civil lawsuit filed by Combs’ girlfriend Casandra Ventura in 2023, which was settled in court without a hearing, the singer opened the floodgates to a ferocious stream of accusations against the once-powerful music industry powerhouse.
She testified in the trial’s key witnesses, and witnesses to the trial’s trial repeatedly received infamous surveillance footage of Combs beating and dragging Ventura viciously in a hotel.
In exchange for the disturbing tape, which CNN published last year, a hotel security guard claimed to have received $100, 000 in a brown paper bag from Combs.
Jurors are not sequestered, but they are instructed not to consume any media related to the case every day, which is a formidable task given how prevalent news of the trial has become on both traditional and social media.
After Australia coach Joe Schmidt highlighted some of the players’ ancestry, the British and Irish Lions players rallied around their foreign-born team-mates.
As the Ireland and Scotland stars teamed up against Argentina in Dublin, Schmidt called Bundee Aki, who is from New Zealand and Sione Tuipulotu, a “southern hemisphere center pairing.”
Flyhalf Finn Russell told BBC Sport, “I have no issues with them being born in New Zealand or Australia.”
“Everyone has a different background, a different path to rugby, and we all have different paths to where we are now.” These boys unquestionably deserve a spot on the team.
Schmidt, a New Zealander who led Australia and established himself as a coach in France and Ireland, has brought up the irony of this situation.
Schmidt would be aware that some Lions fans might find this article offensive.
England captain Danny Care commented on the podcast of the Rugby Union Weekly that “it doesn’t sit that well with me.”
“There are young men who have never, in their mid-20s or even childhood, dreamed of wearing a red Lions jersey.”

How do foreign players become Lions players?
Eight of the Lions’ 38-man squad in Australia were raised in southern Australia and had previously moved north.
They have chosen England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, and thus the British and Irish Lions, through two different means.
On grounds of residence, Aki, his Ireland team-mates James Lowe and Jamison Gibson-Park, and Scottish duo Duhan van der Merwe and Pierre Schoeman, all qualify for adoption in their adopted countries.
Three years of living in a nation was enough time to represent that quintet as they went through the process.
Before moving to Ireland’s Leinster province later that year at the age of 25, Lowe played for the Maori All Blacks against the British and Irish Lions.
Gibson-Park, 24, who previously played for the Maoris against the Leicester Tigers, had previously made the same transition.
Shortly after spending three years in Dublin, both made their Irish debuts.
Aki has previously acknowledged that his own 2014 move to Connacht from New Zealand was largely driven by his desire to play in Ireland and to play in the Tests.

However, Finlay Bealham and Mack Hansen from Ireland and Tuipulotu from Scotland qualify via a different route.
The trio, who were born and raised in Australia, have always been eligible to play for the Lions due to their parents’ or grandparents’ birthplaces.
previous Lions’ diverse backgrounds
It’s not new for the Lions to pick players from the southern hemisphere.
Mike Catt, who was born in Port Elizabeth, was educated in South Africa before becoming a licensed agent through his mother. Before winning the World Cup in 2023, he made notable stops on his road trips in 1997 and 2001.
The 2005 touring group included Brent Cockbain, whose brother Matt was a Wallaby. Riki Flutey, who was born in New Zealand, visited South Africa in 2009 and won the third Test there.

After representing Ireland in the 2010s, CJ Stander, a former South African under-20 international, also played for New Zealand. There are numerous more examples.
This tour stands out in comparison to other players because of the volume of players who were born abroad and, in some cases, only moved to Britain and Ireland in their 20s.
This selection has an antipodean feel, more so than any other Lions tours that have taken place during the British and Irish Lions tour, ex-lion Ugo Monye said.
Future squads will change as a result of the new World Rugby rules.
It’s sort of a perfect storm in some ways. By the time the team travels to New Zealand in 2029, the situation is likely to become less contentious.
In 2021, World Rugby extended the eligibility period for a nation on grounds of residency to five years.
It immediately increased the risk and appeal of bringing over a southern-hemisphere prospect in the hope that they will develop into a key Test player.
All three of Ireland’s, Scotland’s, and Wales’ programs are focused on locating players who can play for them but who also reside abroad.
Russell claims that his team-mates’ accomplishments are more important to him than their paperwork.
Sione is “likelier than Sione because he plays for Scotland,” he continued.
“We are all pulling in the right direction to try to win a Test series,” the statement states.
Aki, Lowe, Gibson-Park, Bealham, and Hansen have long-standing team-mates, but Josh van der Flier has refuted any suggestion that their claim to a Test shirt is any worse than his own.
After both teams advanced to the knockout stages on Monday, Lionel Messi will face a tantalizing reunion with former club Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup last 16.
After the Brazilian side rallied from two goals down to claim the top spot, Miami and Palmeiras drew 2-2 to move up to second place in Group A.
They now face Botafogo, who lost 1-0 to Atletico Madrid but finished second overall to the Spaniards in Group B.
With a 2-0 victory over the Seattle Sounders, PSG, the champions of Europe, opened the door for Messi and Miami’s surprise package.
After a shock defeat to Porto, Tadeo Allende and Luis Suarez scored to put Miami on the verge of a second title.

However, Paulinho and Mauricio helped Palmeiras get through in the final ten minutes of the game at Hard Rock Stadium.
In addition to Suarez, Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Javier Mascherano, Miami’s coach, Luis Enrique, who won the 2015 Copa America title, will face their former teammate in 2015.
“We’re talking about the European champions.” We are well-known to many of their players and coaches, and I’ve always said to them that their coach is the best in the world, Alba said.
“I’ll connect with my good friends there, but once the game starts, we’ll compete, and why can’t we do it?” Football is what?
Major League Soccer, according to Mascherano, has been improved by Miami’s success.
Because of our affiliation with the top 16 MLS teams in the world, it’s a historic night for the league. He claimed that Inter Miami should be a “piece of the MLS”.
After a heartfelt 4-4 draw, Portugal’s Porto and Egypt’s Al Ahly were both eliminated. Neither team could have beaten Palmeiras or Miami.
PSG, the European champions, came out of the woods with a comfortable victory in Seattle after Botafogo’s surprise defeat.
Due to Botafogo’s late defeat at Atletico Madrid in Pasadena, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Achraf Hakimi scored either side of half-time to advance to the group stage.
The pitch was very different from what we are used to in Europe, so we couldn’t play with the fluidity we prefer, but we made adjustments,” according to PSG coach Enrique.
Ousmane Dembele, the top scorer for PSG, was injured and had to travel to the tournament to play no part in a third game.

After falling to Paris Saint-Germain 4-0 in their opening game, Atletico needed a significant win over Botafogo to advance.
In the 87th minute, former France international Antoine Griezmann lashed home a Julian Alvarez cross to give Atletico a victory that was ultimately in vain.
We regret not being selected because we had six points, according to Atletico coach Simeone.
“We were punished at the end of the day because it wasn’t enough.”
Atletico was upset that penalty appeals were turned down because they needed a two-goal swing.
Giuliano Simeone, the coach’s son, remarked, “I’ve never seen anything like it, to be honest, I think we should have received two penalties.”
With one more last 16 spot on the line on Tuesday, Benfica and Bayern Munich, who have already qualified, will face Group C rival Boca Juniors.
Chelsea, who now faces Los Angeles FC in the English Premier League, then takes on Esperance Tunis.
Last-16 matches of the World Cup Club
The Club World Cup’s last 16 fixtures are listed below (kick-offs GMT).
Luis Enrique, the manager of Paris St-Germain, has criticised the stadiums during the Club World Cup, claiming that the “ball bounced like a rabbit” in the Seattle Sounders’ victory.
The Seattle Seahawks and the MLS team the Sounders played the match at Lumen Field, where the artificial turf was used to temporarily replace the stadium’s artificial turf for the tournament.
The Spaniard claims that the Club World Cup must be “the most high-level competition in the world” for football’s world-governing body Fifa to “bear in mind” the quality of both match and training pitches.
After his team won 2-0 to take the top spot in Group B of the tournament, which is being held exclusively in the United States, the 55-year-old said, “I wouldn’t imagine a NBA court full of holes.
“On the day we win, the state of the field of play is what I really care about,” I declare.
At the end of May, PSG claimed the title of champions league champions thanks to a stunning victory over Inter Milan in Munich.
Due to the nature of the pitch conditions, Luis Enrique said his team has had to adjust since moving to the US.
“Lumen Field is an example, it used to be artificial turf, but it has been replaced with natural grass,” he continued. They had to manually water it at halftime, but the field was dry once more in ten minutes.
This is a problem for our game, they say. It is significantly different from European pitches. We did well to adapt, and we’re very happy because the grass is different and therefore it’s not as simple to play our style.
World Cup-related concerns

Less than a year until the Fifa World Cup is held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Jude Bellingham, who lost 3-1 to Pachuca, also criticized the pitches at the Club World Cup.
The pitches are not at all excellent. The England midfielder said, “It holds up the ball, the ball barely bounces.”
It’s also “tough on the knees,” they say. Hopefully, that will be addressed prior to the World Cup the following year.
World Cup games will also be played at five of the venue’s starting locations: Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Hard Rock Stadium, MetLife Stadium, Lincoln Financial Field, and Lumen Field.
NFL teams typically use artificial turf, but they will install real grass just in time for the World Cup to meet Fifa requirements.
The pitch quality in the US has previously caused issues with the inaugural Club World Cup.
At last year’s Copa America, players expressed concern for the conditions, with Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez calling the field “a disaster” following its win over Canada.
Conmebol, the tournament’s organizer, defended the pitches, while Fredirico Nantes, the director of competitions, said, “The Atlanta grass posed absolutely no threat.”
The stadium will host one of the semi-finals of the World Cup’s eight matches in the summer.
The most recent issue raised during the Club World Cup is the state of the pitches.
Throughout the entire competition, there have been concerns about the weather, with players experiencing issues from extreme heat.
Borussia Dortmund’s substitutes were unable to watch the first half of their 2-1 win over Mamelodi Sundowns because of the temperature, according to Niko Kovac, manager, who described the situation as “like a sauna”.
Enzo Maresca, Chelsea’s manager, claimed that as the weather reached 37C, his team had had a difficult training schedule in Philadelphia.
Plans for Benidorm to reportedly return to screens could be thwarted thanks to a ‘miserable’ split – but what have some of the stars of the iconic sitcom got up to since the show came to an end?
The divorce has reportedly put a spanner in the works for a Benidorm reboot(Image: ITV / Tiger Aspect)
The highly anticipated reboot of Benidorm has been thrown into doubt after the creator’s tricky divorce from one of the show’s biggest stars, it has been reported.
Derren Litten was married to Jake Canuso, who plays Lothario Matteo in the ITV comedy, but their marriage ended in 2023. The relationship between them is said to be tense, seeing reports of a comeback now hanging in the balance.
The sun-soaked hit comedy aired for 10 series from 2007 to 2008 with a beloved cast featuring the likes of Johnny Vegas, Tim Healy, Steve Pemberton and Siobhan Finneran. A Listers, including Dame Joan Collins and late Will and Grace star Leslie Jordan, also made surprise appearances.
Derren said on X last year: “I don’t really talk about my personal life here but the reason I’ve been a bit scarce on the socials is for the last 18 months I’ve been going through a pretty miserable divorce. So I’m obviously poor now. And you thought we couldn’t have more in common then we already do?!”

A source told The Sun: “Matteo is Benidorm, he’s the character that everyone wants to see. He’s been part of the Solana since the beginning so for him not to feature in any future reboot, well it just would not be the same without him. Jake created one of the show’s most loved characters in Matteo but with everything that’s happened between him and Derren, it’s not looking good.”

Another insider said: “Conversations have been had. The only way Jake will return is if ITV make him a huge offer, one that he could not possibly turn down. But obviously Derren is making negotiations difficult. He is the writer and creator and believes that he should make all the decisions – the fans would want to see Matteo, which ITV get. It’s all become one big headache.”
The majority of big-name stars left before the show was cancelled, so there are no guarantees as to who would make up the new lineup. So as reports swirl about the show’s possible return, the Mirror takes a look at what became of some of Benidorm’s most memorable stars…
Danny Walters
Danny Walters went on to play Keanu Taylor in EastEnders(Image: BBC / Jack Barnes)
The 32-year-old actor, from Essex, played Tiger Dyke on the ITV sitcom from 2014 to 2017. However, Danny Walters made a big change when he left the comedy and joined BBC One soap opera EastEnders in the role of hunky Keanu Taylor.
As part of the raucous Taylor clan, Keanu quickly became embroiled in chaos but his big storyline saw him begin an affair with Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) while dating her step-daughter Louise (Tilly Keeper) – later fathering a child with each of them.
Danny remained on EastEnders until he quit in 2019, with Keanu’s final scenes airing in early 2020. In a shock twist, Danny returned to the soap in December 2022. One year later his character was killed off on Christmas Day 2023 as part of the famous ‘The Six’ storyline which saw Linda Carter kill him during an altercation.

After the end of his run with Benidorm, Jake collaborated once more with Derren on his BBC One sitcom Scarborough, playing the role of Tony Peroni in the 2019 series. Jake is currently offering paid personalised messages as Mateo via the video service Memmo.

It’s made me feel like I can look in the mirror.”
In 2024, Sherrie, 74, joined the cast of Hollyoaks as the character Martha Blake. Speaking of the reports of a Benidorm revival, the actress said on Best’s Suddenly Single podcast: “There is this thing that it’s coming back though, and I keep that alive. It is now a possibility. That would be wonderful because we all miss it desperately.”

Explaining his career shift, he told the Mirror: “It got to a point where I just thought I wanted an income every month guaranteed, instead of not knowing when your next job is going to come. I’d love to get back into the future if the right thing came about but who knows?”

Derren Little penned at the time on Twitter: “Terribly sad news guys. Kenny Ireland lost his very long battle with cancer this morning. Miss you so much already dear friend. X”.
The character of Donald was subsequently killed off and mourned on-screen in the show’s eighth run.

He added of his time as a delivery driver: “I’ve only encountered a few ‘Benidorm’ fans. I delivered to a lady on Hornsea the other day and she was very star-struck.”

She and Steve Pemberton announced their decision to leave the show during Benidorm’s sixth series, with Siobhan explaining to What’s on TV at the time: “We were in a terrible state. It was our decision to stop, but it was still heartbreaking. A lot of guest stars – brilliant people like David Bradley – have said it’s a treat of a job, and they’re right.”
She added: “So it was really, really upsetting to say goodbye to the cast and crew. You know you’re not going to work with them ever again. Then to come home and think, ‘Blimey, we’ve actually done it’, is quite something.”
