A MotoGP title challenger for 2025 is Marc Marquez.

The eight-time world champion, who had suffered broken bones, a severe concussion, and numerous operations, would have been unable to comprehend those words when he had been living a “nightmare” two seasons ago.

The six-time MotoGP champion won four championships in a row from 2016 to 2019, making it seem impossible for him to have won a race for nearly 1, 000 days.

The 32-year-old told BBC Sport: “Two years ago, I was perhaps at the most difficult time of my career because the nightmare started in 2020.”

“I had some difficult decisions to make, but I didn’t know what the future would be,” he said.

The Spaniard declared to BBC Sport in 2023 that he was not “ready to win again.” At the conclusion of that season, he left Honda, a team he had spent 11 years with, and made his debut at Gresini Racing, the satellite Ducati team.

He said, “I said no to all those things because my friends and I had a very good job. I just proved to myself if I was quick.”

He has his evidence now, leading the championship standings and participating in factory Ducati racing.

How did he get to the point where he could win a ninth world title, beating Valentino Rossi, who is also great?

Some fans see Marquez’s resumption of title-holding as a comeback for the ages.

Why is obvious to everyone.

Marquez has suffered a number of injuries since winning his most recent MotoGP title in 2019.

At the start of the 2020 season, he broke his arm, which required four operations over the course of two years.

A severe concussion occurred in a motocross collision in 2021.

Due to having double vision the following year, he was forced to miss numerous races, and in 2023 he broke his ankle, ribs, and fingers.

Whether or not he wins the title, he has made a complete comeback.

“The most challenging challenge of my career… ” I’ve already recovered from a lot of injuries. He claimed that in an effort to improve my skills, I broke many, many things.

He joined the factory Ducati team on a two-year contract following a strong 2024 campaign that saw him win three feature races and two pole positions.

He said, “The first thing I wanted to do was to regain my confidence.” And gradually work toward achieving goals that you can achieve, to rebuild confidence.

You can’t win a fight without waiting. You must first understand the bike, then work your way up to the top five, then a podium, and then step-by-step battle for a podium.

the need to “adapt” and “calculate risk.”

For Marquez to maintain his composure, he has had to alter his mindset. He was once a trend follower, but he now has to adapt.

Jorge Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa, and Valentino Rossi, the three famous riders, were competing against me when I first entered MotoGP. The main difference between when I first entered MotoGP and now is that I compete against the younger talent from Moto2, which are extremely competitive, he said.

I introduced the elbow and a new riding style, but when the younger riders show up, they also introduce a new feature, which I need to adapt to.

Additionally, he has grown more aware of safety.

Marquez, who is still the youngest MotoGP champion of all time, said, “I think more about the safety and I try to calculate more the risks. – At one of my career’s strongest and weakest points, it was difficult to see the risk.”

My mother supports my brother more, my mother claims.

Marquez’s rivals Rossi and Lorenzo, who have a combined 14 world titles, were legends in the sport at the time Marquez was vying for the title in 2019, respectively.

The standings-to-bee challenger for this year is much closer to home, with Alex sitting second behind him in the standings.

With only 15 races left, Marc Marquez holds the top spot in the MotoGP standings with 196 points over his brother.

Even their mother’s ties to them differ.

Marquez, whose 29-year-old brother competes for Gresini Ducati, said, “We are living a dream.” Both of us are first and second in the same championship.

My mother always jokes that “you have enough, let him win,” while supporting Alex, but she always does.

Russia-Ukraine war: List of key events, day 1,190

On Thursday, May 29, 2018, this is how things are going:

Fighting

  • In response to a significant overnight drone attack, the Ukrainian military claimed to have struck several Russian weapons-producing sites in Moscow, including the Raduga plant, Kronstadt plant, and Angstrem microchip factories.
  • Three Ukrainian drones targeted Moscow by Russia’s air defense units on Thursday morning, according to Russia. No injuries or significant harm were reported when one of the drones reportedly struck a house south of the city.
  • According to the Defense Ministry in Moscow, Russian forces have taken control of Zelene Pole and the town of Kostiantynivka in the Sumy region of Ukraine.
  • Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, claimed that Russia had gathered more than 50 000 troops near the northeastern Sumy region, but Kyiv has taken steps to stop them from carrying out a massive summer offensive as planned.
  • Nearly 175,000 service members have signed contracts with the Russian army since the start of this year, according to the TASS state news agency in Russia.

Diplomacy

  • Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, was once more outraged by the intensifying Ukrainian conflict, the day after Trump warned him that he was “playing with fire” by refusing to hold ceasefire talks and mounting drone and missile attacks on Ukrainian cities.
  • Trump claimed that Putin may be intentionally putting off ceasefire negotiations, and that he would “repair a little differently” when he spoke to reporters in the Oval Office.
  • Trump also stated to reporters that he did not want a potential peace deal to be scuttled by the fact that he is not yet ready to impose new sanctions on Russia.
  • Trump’s comments were echoed by the Kremlin, who stated that the Russian leader’s national interests were top priority.
  • When he spoke with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio rebuffed Trump’s claim that a “good faith dialogue” between Ukraine and Russia would be the only way to put an end to the conflict.
  • According to Lavrov, Russia has suggested that Ukraine’s next direct negotiations be held on June 2 in Istanbul.
  • Rustem Umerov, the defense minister of Ukraine, recently sat down with the head of the Russian delegation during previous Istanbul discussions to talk about the memorandum that Moscow is currently working on, which lists the conditions for a peace agreement.
  • Russia has already received a copy of the peace memorandum from Ukraine, and it is asking for Moscow to copy it before talks can begin.
  • Hakan Fidan, the foreign minister of Turkiye, will visit Kyiv for a two-day visit after a meeting with Moscow earlier this week regarding peace efforts.
  • Russia’s Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, which is occupied by Ukraine, is being linked to its own power grid, according to reports that Moscow is doing so.

Regional security

  • According to the Reuters news agency, NATO will request from Germany to provide seven more brigades, or about 40 000, for the alliance’s defense as a result of its dramatic military expansion in response to Russia’s growing threat.
  • German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that his country would “intensify cooperation” with Kyiv and would not impose range restrictions on jointly produced missiles between the two nations during a visit of President Zelenskyy in Berlin.
  • Germany also announced that it would provide Ukraine with additional military support worth about 5 billion euros ($5.65).
  • Germans’ plans to develop long-range missiles with Ukraine, as well as the supply of German tanks to Kyiv, according to Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, demonstrated that it was already a participant in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
  • A Ukrainian, a Russian, and an Armenian have been charged with foreign agent activity by German authorities after an investigation into a Ukrainian man’s possible spying intentions in Germany.

Brooklyn Beckham was ‘very much man of the house’ and Victoria ‘relied on him’

Before meeting his now-wife Nicola Peltz, Brooke Beckham was said to have been her real rock, but according to reports, the dynamics have since changed.

Victoria Beckham “relied on Brooklyn” and he became “very much man of the house” when his parents were experiencing marriage problems, an insider claimed.

Brooklyn was reportedly his mum’s rock throughout his childhood, a connection which jars with the tension-laden picture right now as the Beckhams feud continues to play out in public. The strain has become so deep for Victoria, 51, that she is said to have experienced sleepless nights recently.

Throughout Victoria and David’s well-documented marital troubles, it is understood Brooklyn, now 26, offered great support to his mother. Katie Hind, a journalist, told the Daily Mail’s Beckham Breakdown: Inside the Family Feud on its YouTube page: “She really relied on Brooklyn and he was the man of the house and he very much lived up to that while David was away and I think at the time they were having difficulties in their marriage. They had moved back to London, David was away and Brooklyn was a real rock for her.”

The relationship has changed since Brooklyn, a former model, met Nicola Peltz in 2019 at Leonardo Di Caprio’s Halloween party. They married three years later and, last month, Brooklyn and Nicola missed David’s 50th birthday celebrations, which cast the spotlight on the family conflict.

It is very different from what Brooklyn and Victoria’s bond was when he was younger. They were “absolutely inseparable,” according to legend, and Victoria even attended the Glamour Awards with her son in 2013 when he was just 14 years old.

The latest installment of the Daily Mail’s Entertainment YouTube show explores this relationship and its change over time. It highlights how the bitter feud had been kept secret until the birthday no-show, after which Brooklyn has expressed his love for Nicola, 30, in a gushing Instagram post. The aspiring chef wrote: “I always choose you baby, you’re the most amazing person in the world, me and you forever baby.”

But hours after the post, Cruz, the Beckhams’ youngest son waded in on the row for the first time by writing an Instagram post in support of his parents. The 20-year-old aspiring muscian penned: “I love my family. I love you guys more than anything, mum and dad you gave us life and cared for us no matter what, I cannot tell you how blessed we are to have you in our lives.”
