Rangers condemn ‘unacceptable’ banner and throwing of bottle

SNS

Rangers have condemned supporters for displaying an “unacceptable” banner that depicts former manager Graeme Souness holding a gun during Saturday’s Scottish Premiership game against city rivals Celtic.

Before Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Ibrox, the tifo display was visible as the players exited the tunnel.

A supporter’s actions were also condemned by Rangers as being inappropriate during the Old Firm derby.

After reaching a settlement over ticket allocation issues, it was the first time Celtic fans could watch an Old Firm game at Ibrox since January 2023.

A Rangers spokesman said, “Rangers Football Club condemns the actions of the person who threw a bottle during today’s game.”

“Our stadium should not tolerate this behavior,” he declared. Once their identity is confirmed, the club will take the strongest course of action against the person responsible. Steps have already been taken to identify them.

We also acknowledge that the tifo displayed prior to kick-off was unacceptable. Our approach to supporting displays has always been based on trust and group responsibility for using fair judgment.

We will examine how these displays are run and speak with supporters’ groups to ensure that the right balance between trust, responsibility, and oversight is maintained going forward.

We all have a duty to maintain the standards and reputation of our club, and Rangers is proud of its devoted fan base.

We are aware of the banner, and inquiries are ongoing, according to a Police Scotland spokesman.

Victoria Beckham shares stunning family photos from David’s 50th but no mention of Brooklyn

After Brooklyn snubbed his father’s 50th birthday celebrations, David Beckham’s wife Victoria Beckham shared a number of sweet family photos with their two sons, Cruz and Romeo, and their seven-year-old daughter Harper.

David Beckham posed with his family in a string of sweet photos to mark his 50th birthday. Brooklyn Beckham was noticeably absent from the snaps after he failed to show up at the celebrations.

David posed with his wife Victoria, their two sons Romeo and Cruz in the sweet snaps that Victoria shared on social media. Brooklyn was not visible in the photos, but Harper Seven’s daughter was also.

“Creating unique experiences with friends and family.” We adore you all, @romeobeckham @cruzbeckham #HarperSevenxx, she wrote in the caption. Cruz, Romeo, and David all wore matching black suits, white shirts, and black bowties, according to the caption.

In another sweet snap, David kissed his daughter on the head while posing in a gorgeous garden, and Harper and Victoria both looked incredible in matching dark blue long dresses. Additionally, David and his two youngest sons took a photo.

In another location, David shared photos with his family, including Lynne and Joanne, his rarely seen sisters, and his parents Ted and Sandra. In front of their friends and family, David and Victoria kissed over the dining table once more.

The couple also shared some more heartfelt photos of their trip to Paris, where they spent a night together, watched the Eiffel Tower glisten in the distance, and drank a bottle of Petrus together.

The family – minus Brooklyn – also gathered once again last night for a special dinner celebration in London. His son Romeo did a sweet speech at the event, where he said: “Good evening everyone. I would like to start by thanking you all for being here tonight. I know without many of you in here tonight he wouldn’t be half of the man he is today. But to the man of the moment…”

Meanwhile, David was said to be “heartbroken,” and Brooklyn missed the occasion.

“David is putting a brave face on it, but he is heartbroken.” Although David and Victoria hoped he would change his mind a while back, a source claimed, Brooklyn actually informed his parents that he and his wife, Nicola, would not be attending.

The family, including the grandparents, and their siblings, are all in pain because he hasn’t attended one of David’s 50th celebrations. They only hope things will be fixed soon.

David’s birthday parties were attended by Brooklyn and Nicola, but Brooklyn and Nicola were also invited, according to reports that he had “left his parents hanging” each time. A source insisted that Nicola was the subject of the feud that had been reported, despite the fact that it was Romeo’s girlfriend and Kim Turnbull. They declared, “David and Victoria only want their son back, and they will welcome him whenever they please.”

Investec Champions Cup semi-final

Cons: Jalibert (2) Pens: Jalibert (2), Lucu (2), Bielle-Biarrey (2), Bochaton (3), Tameifuna

Touloues: (11) 18

In a fierce encounter between France’s top two rivals, Bordeaux-Begles defeated holders Toulouse to reach the Investec Champions Cup final.

After Saints’ incredible victory over Leinster on Saturday, Bordeaux stunned in style by overcoming their nearly-menuet of recent years in a breathless semi-final.

With two fierce tries at Matmut Atlantique in Bordeaux, Louis Bielle-Biarrey, the 2025 Player of the Six Nations, was the driving force behind the win over the tournament favorites and six-time champions.

In the third minute, the hosts’ first score, which was scored by Pete Samu, gave the visitors a lightning-fast pace, but Toulouse were able to hold on with tries from Dimitri Delibes and Pierre-Louis Barassi.

However, Bordeaux, who lost to Toulouse in the previous year’s Top 14 final 59-3, came out on top with two second-half tries for Pierre Bochaton and Ben Tameifuna.

Reigning champions Toulouse battled valiantly, but they were constantly under pressure and lacked the creative abilities of Antoine Dupont, Thomas Ramos, and Blair Kinghorn, who were both injured.

The match’s blistering tempo was immediately established when Bordeaux fly-half Matthieu Jalibert seared through midfield and offloaded to give the supporting Samu a run-in. The play moved from wing to wing before being slowed down to give the playing Samu a break.

Both teams ensured that style would be upheld as the breathtaking pace grew, and they both had 100% win records this season when they played rugby from the gods.

Before Toulouse found their relentless offloading game to put Delibes in at the corner, Jalibert and Juan-Cruz Mallia exchanged penalties.

Toulouse led 11-10 when Mallia scored from the penalty spot, but it was short lived as Bordeaux full-back Romain Buros carved through the defense wide and acrobatically dived over the tryline several times.

The hosts extended their lead to 18-11 at half-time thanks to Maxime Lucu’s incredible penalty from his own half, which Bielle-Biarrey scored with a brilliant rounding of Paul Graou wide before rushing under the posts.

Anthony Jelonch, a replacement flanker for Toulouse, led the charge at 25-11 in the play, which resulted in Thibaud Flament bursting into the 22 and Marko Gazzotti sin-binned for stifling the attack.

The 14-man defense were unable to stop Barassi from cutting inside to score on 54 minutes after the reigning champions scored two powerful scrums following.

Buros was punished for his efforts, but the home crowd cheered even more as Bochaton headed home from close range to cut the lead to 30-18.

Bordeaux-Begles: Buros, Penaud, Depoortere, Moefana, Moefana, Jalibert, Lucu (capt), Samu, Petti, Diaby, Cazeaux, Coleman, Falatea, Lamothe, Poirot, and Penaud.

Zamfara APC, Suspended Lawmakers Reject Arrest Order

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the members of the parallel Zamfara State House of Assembly under the factional Speaker, Bashar Aliyu Gummi have rejected and condemned what they described as a politically motivated court order for the arrest of nine lawmakers.

In separate statements issued on Sunday in Gusau, the APC and the factional assembly accused the state government of weaponising the judiciary to intimidate elected representatives for performing their legislative duties and questioning perceived lapses in the executive arm.

According to Yusuf Idris, the APC Publicity Secretary in Zamfara State, the Chief Magistrate Court presided over by Justice Halima Jaafar Mikaila ordered the arrest of the lawmakers without issuing a prior summons or charge, despite the matter being subject to an appeal at the Court of Appeal in Sokoto.

“It is disturbing and embarrassing to see the judiciary being used as a tool to silence lawmakers who are pointing out issues of public concern. We call on Governor Dauda Lawal to end the harassment and engage the aggrieved members in dialogue”, he stated.

The APC maintained that it would continue to uphold the rule of law and resist any form of political intimidation, especially against members who have raised concerns about insecurity in their constituencies.

Similarly, members of the parallel House of Assembly led by Hon. Bashar Aliyu Gummi decried what they termed “malicious persecution” by the state government.

In a statement signed by Hon. Aliyu Ango Kagara, the lawmakers insisted that they remain legitimate representatives of their constituents and would not be deterred by threats or what they described as “politically twisted legal actions”.

“We are committed to our mandate and the people we represent. No amount of intimidation, including biased court orders or threats to our lives, will stop us”, he stated.

The faction also alleged plans to attack them and their families, claiming they had already alerted security agencies and provided evidence of the threats.

While both parties acknowledge that some efforts had been initiated by past assembly leaders to mediate the crisis, they condemned the state government’s decision to seek an arrest order from a lower court despite ongoing legal proceedings at the appellate level.

Trump says ‘I don’t know’ when asked if he backs US due process rights

As his administration aggressively pursues deporting immigrants who entered the country illegally and other non-citizens, including some detained for pro-Palestinian activism and other political speech, President Donald Trump has stated that he is unsure whether Americans are entitled to the same level of protection as other citizens as the president.

Trump made his remarks during a Friday interview with Kristen Welker from his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida that was recorded for NBC News’ Meet the Press program on Sunday.

Welker questioned Trump about whether he concurd with Marco Rubio, the secretary of state of the US, who stated last month that “of course” all Americans are entitled to due process, which typically requires the government to give notice and a hearing before engaging in illegal behavior.

“I don’t know,” I’m not a lawyer, I’m not. Trump continued, “I don’t know,” adding that a requirement like that “wuld require a million, two million, or three million trials.”

The Fifth Amendment of the Constitution guarantees “due process of law,” which refers to a person’s legal protections when facing a criminal charge. Additionally, the 14th Amendment states that no state is able to “deny equal protection of the laws to anyone within its jurisdiction.”

Trump continued, adding that his attorneys “are going to obviously follow what the Supreme Court said.”

He claimed that courts are stopping him from bringing “some of the worst, most dangerous people on Earth” to his rescue, but that he was pressed to do so.

Trump claimed that he was elected to “get them the hell out of here” and that the courts are stopping him from doing so.

A group of Venezuelan immigrants that the Trump administration claimed were gang members were temporarily barred from deporting on April 19 by the Supreme Court justices. The justices have been asked to alter or narrow their order by Trump’s administration, which has used a flimsy 18th-century war law.

Detainees are being given advance notice of their removals, according to US Solicitor General Dean John Sauer, who stated in a Supreme Court filing that they have had “adequate time” to file claims for judicial review.

Without providing proof of gang membership, the Trump administration has deported hundreds of men. Authorities disregarded a court order that was supposed to shield him from deportation to El Salvador in one notable case, that involving Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia. Later, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement attorneys acknowledged that his removal was an “administrative error.”

third term

Trump also stated on the NBC show that pursuing a third term “is not something I’m looking to do.”

According to the best of my knowledge, Trump, who has made hints that he might run for a third term, said, “It’s something you’re not allowed to do.”

The 22nd Amendment of the Constitution states in part that no one may be elected more than once to the president’s office.

Trump also stated that despite the economic unrest brought on by his tariffs, the US economy is in a “transition period,” but that he anticipates it to continue growing “fantastically” in spite of it.

When Welker pointed out that some Wall Street analysts now claim that the chances of a recession are growing, he reacted with a sharp push.

Trump remarked, “Well, you know, some Wall Street people say, you know, I know.” I’ll tell you something else, I suppose. Some Wall Streeters claim that our economy will be the most prosperous ever.

He claimed he was not to blame for the US economy’s 0.3% decline in the first quarter and that he had no control over it.

According to his Democratic ally, former US President Joe Biden, “I think the good parts are the Trump economy and the bad parts are Biden’s economies because he’s done a terrible job.”

Trump added that before his term as head of the Fed expires in 2026, he won’t remove Jerome Powell, whom the president has repeatedly criticized for slowing interest rates.

Trump has threatened to fire Powell on numerous occasions in recent weeks. His attacks followed Powell’s announcement to keep the key interest rate at the US Federal Reserve, which is in charge of implementing US monetary policy, while “more clarity” is sought regarding the impact of policy changes in areas like immigration, taxation, regulation, and tariffs.

If no agreement was reached by that time, Trump also stated that he would extend the deadline for China-based ByteDance to divest the US assets of TikTok, the short video app used by 170 million Americans, starting on June 19.

Trump remarked, “I would like to see it done.”
