After tens of thousands of fans canceled Kylie Minogue’s barnstorming London concert this week, the audience was shocked. The Aussie pop queen has been promoting her album Tension on international tours since February, and on May 26 and 27, she celebrated in the capital with a glittery party.

Kylie has performed in her home country of Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, and North America this year, and all of her shows have received positive reviews. Nothing could have prepared her for the agitated behavior that had taken hold of the 20, 000-strong crowd inside the O2 Arena by the time she arrived in London.

The Padam Padam pop titan was brought to tears as she performed a medley of her classic and contemporary hits when the audience and her backing singers abruptly ended the performance. Everyone sang “Happy Birthday” to Kylie out of the blue on May 28 in honor of her turning 57 years old, the day after her final London performance.

The pop legend was seen touching her chest and smiling with amazement as her fans stopped the show and paying tribute to her, some of whom came from as far away as Taiwan and Brazil, as seen in a video posted on her social media account.

Since its debut, the video has been streamed more than 44 000 times, and her adoring fans have already been flooded with birthday tributes. “I went there last night with friend, it was amazing night,” said one of the fans who serenaded Kylie at the O2! while another fan wrote, “I was there, I was fantastic.

Cannot believe I finally saw her perform live and sing Happy Birthday to her, a third fan who also sang the song to her said.

The O2 also posted a video a day before the superstar’s actual birthday to honor her “Aussie birthday” on TikTok. Kylie was watching rehearsing for her concert inside the venue when her crew brought in a cake and sang “Aussie birthday to you” to the tune of “Happy Birthday” in a video that was captioned “We hope you had the best birthday queen.”

Kylie jumped up and down in excitement, holding her mic in hand, before deciding whether her birthday candles were real. She then inquired, “Are these trick candles or can I blow them out? ” She stated that her birthday wish was “this show.” Don’t cry, please! I appreciate your efforts.”

Nina Hughes, a former world champion boxer, has announced her retirement.

The 42-year-old bantamweight champion from Billericay, Essex, said she realized after her winning fight against Nicholine Achieng on Sunday that she had lost interest in fighting.

She first started playing the sport when she was 25 years old, and in her fifth professional match she won the title of world champion in 2022.

Despite defeating Achieng, Hughes claimed that her “bad performance” indicated that she was prepared to hang up her gloves.

In the sixth and final round, Hughes was severely dropped, but he recovered to claim a point victory.

She claimed that “the desire had vanished” about halfway through the conflict. This is going to be my last one, I began to consider.

The intention was to end this one and start a major fight, but things obviously didn’t go as planned.

Nicola Adams was supposed to take Nicola Adams’ place as Team GB at the first Olympics where women’s boxing was a part of the competition, but Hughes was instead slated to represent Team GB at London 2012.

She gave up her sport and had two children, but she only intended to return in the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020.

Her first professional fight took place in December of 2021, followed by three fights through 2022 in six months.

Although Hughes faced American Jamie Mitchell for the title in her first fight, she completely outlasted her in Dubai.

The Englishwoman won the WBA title in London last year, but Cherneka Johnson lost it in a contentious manner last year.

Short and sweet, please.

Hughes claimed that retirement has not yet “sunk in,” but “deep down I know it’s the right choice.”

The right time is right, she continued, “I always said I wouldn’t be one of these boxers that went on for too long.”

“I’ve made the right choice because I’ve gone on my terms and when I thought the timing was right.”

After it became more difficult for her to secure fights, Hughes claimed that her coach had backed it.

Syrians return to villages destroyed by war

Instead of settling down in a displacement camp following the overthrow of longtime ruler Bashar al-Assad, 73-year-old Aref Shamtan, opted to build a tent close to his destroyed home in northwest Syria.

Sipping tea at a tent close to his field, Shamtan said, “I feel good here, even among the rubble.”

Shamtan discovered the severely damaged village of al-Hawash, which was situated amid farmland in central Hama province, when he returned with his son after al-Assad was ousted in December.

His home’s walls and roof had shattered. However, according to Shamtan, “living in the rubble is better than living in the camps” close to the Turkish border, where he had resided since fleeing the conflict in 2011.

The International Organization for Migration reports that 1.87 million Syrians who were internally displaced or refugees have returned to their homes of origin since al-Assad’s downfall almost 14 years ago.

The greatest challenge facing returnees is attributed to the “lack of economic opportunities and essential services.”

Shamtan, who cannot afford rebuilding, recently made the decision to leave the camp with his family and his young children, and has since begun planting wheat on his property.

Al-Hawash had been under al-Assad’s control and had a border with the province of Idlib, which had become a haven for opposition fighters who helped launch the offensive that overthrew the then-president.

Even though “the village is all destroyed… and life is non-existent, lacking basic services and infrastructure, Shamtan argued, “we cannot stay in the camps,” he continued.

“We made the decision to remain here until things get better. He continued, “We are waiting for the state and organizations to assist us.” “Life is difficult.”

Abdel Ghafour al-Khatib, 72, a local official, has also reappeared after escaping from a camp close to the border in 2019.

“I only wanted to go home,” I said. I returned and pitched a stale tent because I was so excited. He asserted that living in my village is crucial.

He noted that “everyone wants to return.” In a nation where 90% of the population lives in poverty, many people are unable to afford transportation.

As he sat in his tent near what remains of his home, al-Khatib said, “There is nothing here – there are no schools, no health clinics, no water, no electricity.”

More than 500,000 people were killed and half of Syria’s pre-war population was displaced either internally or abroad, with many seeking refuge in Idlib province as a result of al-Assad’s brutal suppression of antigovernment protests in 2011.

Hutchinson in Wimbledon contract talks weeks after heart attack

Just four weeks after Sam Hutchinson suffered a heart attack during a League Two game, AFC Wimbledon are in talks with the defender about a contract extension.

Following the health scare that occurred in the sixth minute of Chelsea’s and Sheffield’s final regular-season game against Grimsby, the 35-year-old underwent surgery.

Amazingly, Hutchinson finished the contest at its conclusion and scored the winning goal.

After defeating Walsall 1-0 at Wembley to advance to League One, the Dons then defeated Notts County at home and away in the play-off semi-finals.

Hutchinson signed for Wimbledon from Reading in December, making 18 appearances.

At Plough Lane, defensive players Ryan Johnson, Josh Neufville, and James Tilley have all received new deals, and Isaac Ogundere’s contract extension option has been given an extension.

After a stellar season, Goodman makes his comeback to Palace.

Owen Goodman, who has been on a season-long loan with the Dons, has returned to Crystal Palace.

The club’s 21-year-old kept 24 clean sheets in 54 appearances across all competitions.

In each of his final four appearances, all with 1-0 victories, he kept a clean sheet, which was the play-off final victory at Wembley.

Alistair Smith, Joe Piggot, and James Furlong have all reconnected with their parents’ organizations.

The impact our loan players have had on the Dons’ website has been incredible, director of football Craig Cope said.

James Furlong made an immediate impact at the start of the season, collecting points early on and delivering some strong performances later.

“Cheltenham and Barrow legend Joe Pigott returns with some crucial goals.”

“Finally landing long-term target Alistair, who ended up being so reliable, missing one game the entire season, and scoring some crucial goals.

“Owen coming across south London to become the best goalkeeper in the league,” concedes 35 goals in 49 games, which resulted in an England Under-21 call-up.

Will Nightingale will leave this summer and will be leaving the club after 11 years.

On Sunday, he will hold a testimonial at Cherry Red Records Stadium.

Wassell back in Scotland fold after tumour surgery

SNS

After having surgery to remove a tumour from her chest, Emma Wassell missed the entire 2024-2020 season and is now a member of the Scotland squad.

As preparations for the World Cup in England in August begin, the 30-year-old Aberdeen second row, who has been captained 67 times, is a member of a 38-strong extended training group.

The injured quartet of Aila Ronald, Hannah Ramsay, Hannah Walker, and Meg Varley will now play in place of Hollie Cunningham and Coreen Grant.

A benign tumour was discovered in Wassell in September of last year, and it needed to be removed in two ways.

In late April, she stated on the BBC Scotland Rugby Podcast, “The health is very good.” I’m prepared to continue my efforts.

32 members of the squad will make the cut for the tournament, in which Scotland will face Canada, Wales, and Fiji in the pool.

There are good players missing out on selection, as we saw through this year’s Six Nations, according to head coach Bryan Easson. I believe this is a testament to the depth we’ve developed, the consistency of our performances, and the competitive standard being set week in and week out.

We’re focused on improving every aspect of our preparation as we enter this crucial preparation period and advance our careers. As we approach summer, the months ahead are crucial.

“We’ve chosen a strong, competitive group that combines hard-earned experience with exciting young talent.

Israel announces expansion of illegal settlements in occupied West Bank

Palestinian officials and rights groups decried the Israeli government’s decision to legalize some so-called “outposts” that were already built without government authorization.

The decision was made on Thursday by Israel Katz, the minister of defense, and Bezalel Smotrich, the finance minister, who said using an Israeli term for the occupied West Bank to describe it as “strengthens our hold on Judea and Samaria.”

He continued, “a strategic move that prevents the establishment of a Palestinian state that would put Israel at risk.”

Smotrich praised the “historic decision” and praised the settlement’s “historical decision” as he advocated for Israeli annexation of the West Bank.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party described the decision as a “once-in-a-generation decision,” citing its strategic significance in fortifying Israel’s hold on the eastern border with Jordan.

May 29, 2023 [File: Ronen Zvulun/Reuters] Israeli settlers construct new Jewish seminary buildings in Homesh, an Israeli-occupied West Bank town.

Around 500, 000 settlers live in Israel’s more than 100 illegal settlements spread throughout the occupied West Bank. Small outposts to larger communities with modern infrastructure are the size of the settlements.

More than three million Palestinians reside in the West Bank under Israeli military rule, with the Palestinian Authority governing only a few areas.

Along with occupied East Jerusalem and Gaza, the Palestinians view the area as a crucial component of a future state.

Palestinians criticize “dangerous escalation.”

The Israeli government’s decision was criticized by Palestinian officials and human rights organizations, warning that the expansion of illegal settlements would harm the chances of a future Palestinian state.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, the president of Palestine, criticized the decision, calling it “a dangerous escalation” and “a challenge to international legitimacy.”

He claimed that Israel was causing the region’s instability, and that it was breaking international law. According to him, “This decision goes against all international resolutions, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2334,” adding that all settlement activity continues to be unlawful and illegitimate.

Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas official, criticized calls for action from the United States and the European Union.

Abu Zuhri told the news agency Reuters that the Israeli government’s decision to build 22 new settlements in the West Bank was a part of the Palestinian people’s conflict.

The West Bank will be dramatically altered and further enshrined, according to the Israeli NGO Peace Now.

The Israeli government no longer feigns to realize that its main objectives are the expansion of settlements and the annexation of the occupied territories, according to a statement.

According to Al Jazeera’s Nida Ibrahim from the occupied West Bank, “this is the largest batch of illegal Israeli settlements to be approved in one decision.”

According to Ibrahim, “Palestinian communities are being strangled by Israeli settlements in the West Bank.” A future Palestinian state almost cannot be established on the ground because of these new settlements, which “fill the gaps.” Israel is using this situation to strengthen its occupation while Gaza is the focus of the world’s attention.
