Leo is working on a new project, so Leo embraces their potential in today’s horoscope for May 5.

Find out what’s written in the stars with our astrologer Russell Grant(Image: Daily Record/GettyImages)

It’s Monday, and one star sign gets on with some tasks, while another feels restricted in their relationship.

There are 12 zodiac signs – Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces – and the horoscopes for each can give you the lowdown on what your future holds, be it in work, your love life, your friends and family or more.

These daily forecasts have been compiled by astrologer Russell Grant, who has been reading star signs for over 50 years. From Aries through to Pisces, here’s what today could bring for your horoscope – and what you can do to be prepared.

Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 20)

Your charming and humorous side will make friends and coworkers smile. Don’t be alarmed to find yourself in the center of attention. Be certain that all communications are truthful and concise. Even so, adding a little humor to your stories will make them memorable and draw in more attention.

Taurus (Apr 21 – May 21)

Your regular routine could be slowed down by things like power failures, computer problems, or cancelled meetings. If this is something you’ve been considering doing recently, it might give you a chance to think about new job opportunities or look for a different job.

Gemini (May 22 – June 21)

You might need to take initiative to advance a project. Other people are interested and want to be involved, even though it may seem reasonable to you to do it alone. Keep them informed as the project develops.

Cancer (June 22 – July 23)

You might discover some excellent business models. Expect unexpected unforeseen events in your finances and cash flow. A surprise bonus or loss might be averted for you or someone close to it. You’ll enjoy an unexpected purchase and a new job opportunity that will pay well.

Leo (July 24 – Aug 23)

Even if a new project has the potential to benefit others more than you, you will need your attention. Complete this task as quickly as possible. To give yourself a chance to decide what you want to do in the future, get your tasks and assignments out of the way as early as possible.

Virgo (Aug 24 – Sept 23)

If you think before acting and speaking, mistakes can be avoided. Avoid reacting impulsively to a colleague’s suggestions at work and be extra cautious. Later, as you formulate a brilliant idea, you will suddenly have clarity.

Libra (Sept 24 – Oct 23)

Set your intention higher than you can go. Set ambitious goals and work each day to reach a goal that seems like a distant dream because you have the potential to accomplish far more than you might think. You can accomplish this dream, I assure you.

Scorpio (Oct 24 – Nov 22)

When something irritates you, stay calm. Not as bad as it appears initially. Keep telling yourself that something better will come along for you if a coworker has been given a difficult task and you are now burdened with routine tasks. To demonstrate your abilities, effectively complete your own tasks.

Sagittarius (Nov 23 – Dec 21)

A once-enjoying relationship suddenly feels restrictive. This could prompt you to travel for some novelty and fun. Don’t sacrifice a strong relationship for a fleeting thrill by putting on the other side of the fence because it frequently seems like there is something better out there.

Capricorn (Dec 22 – Jan 20)

You might need to reflect on what matters to you most. Avoid allowing minor issues to escalate, and instead, stop worrying about catching up with people whose methods are drastically different from your own. Everyone goes through uncertainty. Keep in mind your accomplishments from the past.

Aquarius (Jan 21 – Feb 19)

Pay attention to the specifics. Tasks and responsibilities that appear trivial will be the ones that are most crucial. Re-reading a contract’s small print to sterilizing kitchen surfaces can help with this. Get started with whatever needs to be done.

Pisces (Feb 20 – Mar 20)

Choose activities that can give you some exercise. Do a few jumping jacks in your workplace if your work relies on using the stairs or the lift to raise your heart rate. After lunch, head outside for a quick run or for a walk.

Trump says Mexico’s Sheinbaum refused US troop offer out of fear of cartels

Donald Trump, the president of the United States, claimed that Claudia Sheinbaum, the country’s president, resisted offering to send US troops there because of her fear of drug cartels.

Trump confirmed on Sunday that he had suggested sending US troops to Mexico to combat drug trafficking, a day after Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum declared that her country’s sovereignty was “not for sale.”

We would be honored to enter Mexico and offer assistance if Mexico needed it for the cartels. Trump told the reporters on Air Force One, “I told her that.”

“It would be a great honor for me to enter and participate. Our nation is being attempted by the cartels.

Trump claimed that Sheinbaum had turned down the offer because she is “so afraid of the cartels, she can’t walk” when questioned about his disappointment with Sheinbaum’s decision.

She is a lovely woman, in my opinion. Trump said without providing any proof that his assertion was false. “The president of Mexico is a lovely woman, but she is so afraid of the cartels that she can’t even think straight.

Sheinbaum stated in a statement to a crowd at a press conference on Saturday that she had told the US president that Mexico would never consent to having US troops stationed there.

Our territory is inviolable, our sovereignty is inviolable, and our sovereignty is not for sale, she said.

Sheinbaum made her remarks after The Wall Street Journal reported that the Trump administration was pressuring her government to allow “deeper US military involvement” in the fight against Mexican drug cartels, citing unnamed sources.

Trump has frequently alleged that Mexico is failing to stop the flow of fentanyl and other illegal drugs across the southern border of the US.

In one of his opening salvoes, Trump announced in February that he would impose universal tariffs of 25% on Mexico and Canada because they failed to stop the flow of illegal immigrants and undocumented immigrants.

Verstappen ‘not racing very smart’ – Norris

After his tense battles with both McLaren drivers in the Miami Grand Prix, Max Verstappen, according to Lando Norris, was “not racing very smart.”

After attempting to pass Verstappen on the first lap, Norris lost four positions, and the Dutchman and race-winning Oscar Piastri later engaged in multiple-lap battles.

Briton Norris expressed his disappointment with Verstappen’s decision to compete with the McLarens, which resulted in George Russell taking third place overall.

Verstappen was pushed aside by the Mercedes driver by a virtual safety car, but Norris’ claim is that Russell would have been much closer to him and Piastri had he not fought so hard for him and Piastri.

Norris continued, “He probably could have finished third today, but he didn’t because of that.” Yes, he is fighting, which is always expected, but that’s what it is.

Verstappen once said, “To lose a podium is not a frustrating feeling.” It doesn’t really matter if you’re a P3 or P4 because we are here to win and we were miles away today.

I simply wanted to have a little fun out there because I had nothing to lose.

Due to his first-lap encounter with Verstappen, Norris and Verstappen lacked a chance to win a race.

When Verstappen ran a little deep in the first corner and he challenged the Red Bull, Norris turned around and attempted to pass around the corner.

Verstappen appeared to have flung his car at Norris, and the McLaren veered off the track into the run-off area and fell to sixth overall.

Norris “could have been a little more patient.”

Let’s say that considering the situation in corner one-two, it would have been better for Lando to just lift and keep in second place because, again, with the benefit of hindsight, we see that he was very fast and he would certainly have passed Max, like Oscar, and then Lando was in condition to do.

“So I believe that you must approach each situation in racing with the intention of looking at the opportunities that are available. And Lando could, in this instance, have been a little bit more patient.

Norris was further delayed in Verstappen racing after passing him at Turn 11 by going off the track and winning the race the following lap.

Stella claimed that Stella’s two drivers’ Verstappen racing strategies did not differ.

“Both drivers were approaching the overtaking in a manner where, had Lando not fallen off in corner 11, he would have completed the overtaking in a similar period of time. Therefore, I don’t believe we should overread situations. Like I said before, I believe it can sometimes be measured in a matter of a second or a metre.

The decision to retake the position was “the big time loss.” I don’t see any differences between the overtaking manoeuvre and the precision and determination that can be seen in either driver.

Piastri won his third straight race and fourth overall, moving him one point clear of Verstappen, who is 16 points adrift.

It was difficult at first trying to get past Max, the Australian said. With everything still on my car, I made a pretty darned effort to get past.

“I picked my moments when I needed to,” he continued. We had a lot of pace right away, and it was going to be when I got past, not if.

“But I wanted to do it as effectively as I could because I knew Lando would be catching us a lot once he came back behind me.” I needed to finish the book quickly and effectively. I thought I had filled that role fairly well before creating a gap. Although I don’t think I’m the strongest second half of my life, I believe I needed to bridge that gap and be quick when necessary.

‘Fire in my belly’ led to team orders controversy

Reuters

Lewis Hamilton claims that his “still got fire in my belly” contributed to the double controversy over team orders at Ferrari during the Miami Grand Prix.

The seven-time champion requested permission from former teammate Charles Leclerc to attempt to attack Kimi Antonelli in the race, but quickly received a request to take a tea break while he was at it.

Ferrari had two team orders during the race. The team asked Hamilton to let Leclerc back ahead a few laps later when he had failed to make an adequate impression on Antonelli and was unable to catch him before the race was over.

After that, Hamilton declared, “I still have my fire in my belly. A small portion of it was really coming up there.

I won’t make excuses for my fighter behavior. I won’t beg you for wanting it any longer. Everyone on the team knows that, as well.

“I didn’t believe the decision was made quickly enough. And for sure, you’re like, “Come on! ” at that moment. But that’s actually quite a bit of it.

The Briton appeared to not do this right away when Hamilton was later asked to let Leclerc go back ahead of him. Leclerc suggested they just talk about it after the race, and when told that the swap would take place the following lap, he said, “don’t bother.”

Leclerc was then allowed back by Hamilton, who finished with the Monegasque ahead.

It wasn’t even anger, Hamilton said. It wasn’t anything like that: it was effing and blinding and everything. Make a decision, for example.

You’re sitting on a chair, you’ve got the things in front of you, and you need to make a quick decision. That is how I was. We’re trying to keep the car on the track because we’re in a panic. Things are being quickly processed.

I’m making a decision about Ferrari.

Ferrari used different strategies to work with the two drivers, which led to the issue.

Leclerc stopped earlier to switch to the hard compound and started on medium-sized tires. Prior to switching to mediums, Hamilton started on hards and ran longer, which meant that he was faster than Leclerc’s at the time.

Before Hamilton addressed the media, team principal Frederic Vasseur met with the 40-year-old in Hamilton’s room in the Ferrari building in the paddock to talk about the incidents.

Vasseur asserted, “It’s not that he has to talk to TV.” We need to be clear about the fact that he needs to understand what I was feeling on the pit wall in this situation. He and I can trust each other, and Charles can too.

And I’m making a decision for Ferrari when I have to.

“Fred came to my room,” Hamilton exclaimed. I shook his shoulder and said, “Dude, calm down,” before moving my hand. Be less sensitive.

On the radio, I could have said much worse things. Some of the things that have been said in the past are heard.

“Some of it was sarcasm,” she said. Look, you need to realize that the car is under a lot of pressure. In the midst of a battle, the most tranquil messages will never be delivered. It worked out fine.

Leclerc echoed Hamilton’s demand that the drivers dissociate their faults.

He claimed that Lewis and he have no bad feelings. I appreciate Lewis’s attempt to do something different, which I understand. With the medium tires, I would have tried to be a little bit more aggressive than he would if I had been him.

Their relationship is accurately expressed in this. No two opposing team members ever have best friends. However, Hamilton and Leclerc have a mutual respect for one another, like each other, and are at ease in each other’s company at official events and on-team.

Vasseur claimed that the team’s decision was premature and that he had only been trying to make sure Hamilton’s apparent extra pace was not just a matter of being within the one-second range that allowed him to use the DRS overtaking aid. The driver using it notices a 0.6sec improvement in lap time.

It took us one lap, according to Vasseur, and the translation was done in one minute, thirty seconds.

We weren’t sure if it was the DRS effect, so perhaps you can argue at the conclusion that it would have been preferable to do it directly.

We made the difficult choice because Charles or Lewis is never quick to switch jobs, but we did it.

“I have no control over what happened today,” I say. When we ask something like this, I fully understand their frustration.

They feel as though they have given up on a position, which is frustrating. We did it solely to help the team.

Both drivers claimed that the car’s lack of performance made them more irritable. Before advancing to their final positions, they made the eighth and twelveth positions.

Leclerc once said, “We need to separate the two things. Yes, we must address those (strategie) issues that most likely cost us one position, but the remaining seven or six positions, which are car seats, need improvement.

“I hope that this will help us take a step forward because there will be things coming at some point.”

Hamilton claimed that he felt like he had improved his understanding of the Ferrari car in Miami after coming much closer to Leclerc’s pace than in his previous three races.

“I sincerely believe my weekend was better. In general, he said, “I had a good day.” Eighth doesn’t actually resemble that. I have hope for the future. This vehicle has excellent performance, in my opinion.

Something is currently preventing us from moving forward. Since the second race in China, our performance has decreased. We can’t use it, but it’s there. This is where we are pending a fix for that.

“To receive the third place in the sprint race yesterday was a positive. I only lost by half a tenth after better qualifying. We’re still fighting with the Williams, so it’s obvious that we’re not as quick as we’d like to be.

Trump says he will put 100% tariff on all foreign films

Donald Trump, the president of the United States, has announced plans to impose a 100 percent tariff on foreign movies, claiming that competition from abroad is causing Hollywood to “very quickly die.”

Trump claimed in a social media post on Sunday that he had instructed the US Trade Representative and the US Department of Commerce to halt the “any and all” filmmaking in “foreign lands” immediately.

“Our filmmakers and studios are drawn away from the United States by various incentives offered by other countries. On his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that Hollywood and many other U.S. cities are in ruins.

“This is a coordinated effort by other nations, and it poses a threat to national security,” the statement continues. It includes propaganda and messaging in addition to everything else.

Trump did not provide more details about how a tariff would actually work, including whether it would apply to Hollywood films that had multiple countries under production.

Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson, and Jon Voight have been named as “special ambassadors” tasked with restoring Hollywood’s lost business to other countries. Trump’s announcement comes after his appointment in January.

Trump intended to start a “Golden Age of Hollywood” by predicting that the actors would be “my eyes and ears.”

Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2023 actors and writers’ strike, Hollywood has recently experienced difficult business conditions.

According to Gower Street Analytics, Hollywood studios made about $30 billion in revenue last year, down about 7% from 2023.
