German champions Bayer Leverkusen announced on Thursday that Bayern Munich had signed German international defender Jonathan Tah for a free transfer.
The 29-year-old will remain in Munich until 2029 under a four-year contract.
“I’m very happy to be here at Bayern,” he said. In the club statement, Tah stated, “I want to take on responsibility here and work hard every day to ensure that we’re successful as a team and win a lot of trophies together.”
Tah won an unbeaten league and cup double from 2023 to 2024 while he was a decade old at Leverkusen. He expressed his intention to stay with Leverkusen beyond 2025 during his final home game in May, where he received a fitting farewell.
With one year left on Tah’s contract, Bayern had been in talks with Bayern to make the signing in the summer of 2024, but they refused to pay Leverkusen’s asking price.
After Eric Dier left for Ligue 1 side Monaco at the end of the season, Bayern was forced to sign a center-back.

Sporting director Christoph Freund praised Jonathan Tah as a player with international experience and quality who wouldn’t need much time to establish himself in our defense.
With his technical prowess, manner, and leadership style, he’ll make a good and significant addition to our team.
The Hamburg-born defender has made 35 appearances for the nation since making his 2016 debut, including 35 for Barcelona, which included a move to Barcelona where he would have joined former Germany coach Hansi Flick.
Tah has since become a key player in the defense of Germany. Since September 2023, he has started all but one of the international competitions.
Julian Nagelsmann’s squad will play in the Nations League finals the following month.
The hosts travel to Munich on June 4 for the semi-finals, with the winner facing either France or Spain in the final on the home turf of Bayern.
Bayern also made an effort to sign Florian Wirtz, who currently appears to be moving to Liverpool. Leverkusen admitted this week that the Premier League winners have “concrete interest” in the midfielder.
Russia claims that Ukraine has yet to hear back about its request to hold another round of ceasefire talks in Istanbul next week after President Turkiye’s president urged the conflicting parties to “close the door” to dialogue.
Moscow stated earlier this week that it wanted to hold additional discussions with Ukraine in Turkey on June 2 to discuss what it termed the “root causes” of the conflict.
Moscow has not yet received a response from Kyiv, according to Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Kremlin, who spoke on Thursday.
Peskov dismissed the suggestion that Russia should immediately hand over the memorandum as “non-constructive” when asked to comment on Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha’s suggestion.
You must either confirm your willingness to continue the negotiations or indicate the opposite, according to Peskov.
Rustem Umerov, the minister of defense in Ukraine, stated on Wednesday that Kyiv had already prepared its memorandum on a potential settlement and that it should be released right away. Umerov claimed that the meeting would not produce any results without it.
Heorhii Tykhyi, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, claimed on X on Thursday that Russia’s reluctance to share its plan suggests that it is “likely filled with unrealistic ultimatums.”
They “are hesitant to reveal that they are stifling the peace process,” said Tykhyi.
The encounter, which was held on May 16 between officials from both sides, failed to lead to a breakthrough despite agreement and completion of the exchange of 1, 000 prisoners of war, which was agreed upon and then completed in recent days.
According to a TASS news source, Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for Russia’s foreign ministry, said on Thursday that the Russian delegation would be the same as it was for the first round of discussions with Ukraine in Istanbul.
Vladimir Medinsky, president of Russia, Vladimir Putin’s aide, Rodion Miroshnik, ambassador-at-large, and senior military and intelligence officials all joined the Russian delegation for the opening round of direct talks.
Moscow’s team’s composition in the opening round was criticized by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as a “sign of disrespect” because it was a junior delegation that was not authorised to sign a ceasefire.
Zelenskyy stated on X that “Russia once more demonstrated that it does not intend to end the war.” We anticipate partners to respond clearly and decisively.
However, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan claimed that the recent fervor presented a chance for lasting peace.
More dialogue and diplomacy are necessary for a resolution, according to the author. His office stated to reporters on Thursday that we are using all of our diplomatic resources and potential for peace.
We have repeatedly reminded our interlocutors that they shouldn’t waste this opportunity during each of our meetings, Erdogan said, adding that “extinguishing this enormous fire in our region is a humanitarian duty.”
Local authorities in Ukraine reported that 90 drones were fired overnight, killing at least five people.
48 Ukrainian drones were intercepted overnight, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, including 30 over the Belgorod region.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) announced that it had seized 235 vehicles from the state for arbitrary parking, flagrant environmental violations, and general traffic chaos.
Lagos traffic managers claimed the vehicles were seized during a clean-up operation across critical traffic corridors in the state in a statement released on Thursday by LASTMA spokesman Adebayo Tofiq.
“This expansive operation, meticulously coordinated under the leadership of Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, General Manager of LASTMA, commenced today with full deployment across high-density zones, notably Oyingbo, Iddo, Eja-Lonibu, Adeniji Adele, Sabo, Jibowu (Inter-State Terminal), and Oshodi,” he said.
No fewer than 235 vehicles, including 38 private automobiles, 156 painted Volkswagen commercial buses (Danfo), 19 minibuses (Korope), five haulage trucks, and 17 interstate passenger buses, were seized in violation of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018, according to the agency.

“The crimes included reckless disregard for established traffic laws, obstruction of vehicular flow, establishment of illegal terminals, and unlawful encroachment upon pedestrian paths,” the report states.
Five articulated trucks were abducted atop the Adeniji Adele Bridge in an egregious incident, putting a serious environmental deterioration on top of the bridge by rams, cows, and abattoir waste, compromising both public safety and the bridge’s structural integrity.
The statement read, “The drivers are now facing imminent judicial proceedings for manifest contempt for sanitation laws.”
What: UEFA Champions League final When: Saturday, May 31, 9pm (19:00 GMT) Where: Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany Who: Paris Saint-Germain (France) vs Inter Milan (Italy)
How to follow our coverage: We’ll have all the build-up from 5pm (15:00 GMT) on Al Jazeera Sport.
The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League season concludes at the dazzling Allianz Arena in Munich as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) meet three-time champions Inter Milan in the final of Europe’s premier club competition.
PSG will be appearing in just their second Champions League final, having lost their first to German side Bayern Munich in 2020.
For PSG manager, Luis Enrique, it is just the latest chapter in his record of climbing to new highs – first from release by Real Madrid, as a youngster, and then by winning the 2015 title treble at Barcelona as a coach, the club where he also made his name as a player.
Road to the final
PSG, backed by owners Qatar Sports Investments, booked their place in the Champions League final earlier in May. The Paris-based side beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Parc des Princes, winning their semifinal tie with a 3-1 aggregate scoreline.
Inter Milan beat Barcelona 7-6 on aggregate, with the second leg in Italy going to extra time despite the Spanish club leading in injury time in normal time.
How did PSG and Inter fare in their league seasons?
Inter Milan finished second in Serie A in a dramatic final round showdown with Napoli, who began the final day with a one point advantage.
Once Napoli won their final game against Cagliari to seal the league title, Inter’s title charge was over, despite a hard-fought 2-0 win against Como.
PSG were dominant in the 2024-25 Ligue 1 season, wrapping up the domestic title by an incredible 19 points – and that was despite slacking off towards the end of the season with three straight winless matches to end their campaign.
Their last outing, however, was the French Cup final, which resulted in a 3-0 win against Reims last Saturday.

Which French forward will prevail?
PSG’s gifted French forward, Ousmane Dembele, overcame a slow start to the season to reel off one of the greatest offensive performances in Europe this season.
In 50 appearances this season, the 27-year-old Dembele scored 32 goals – and he was huge part of an incredible 30-match unbeaten league run by PSG.
Inter Milan’s French international Marcus Thuram has netted 18 goals in 52 appearances this season.
Son of Lilian Thuram, a legendary French World Cup winner, Marcus was born in Italy, where his father was representing Parma at the time.
The 27-year-old has scored twice for France in 29 appearances for his country, and has proved a fine foil for Inter’s top scorer this season, Lautaro Martinez.
Where will the final be played
The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League final will take place at the Munich Football Arena.
The 75,000 seat venue, better known as Allianz Arena, is the home of current German Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich.
It’s the first time a German venue has held the Champions League final since 2012.

Have PSG ever played Inter?
This will be the first time that Inter and PSG meet in a competitive fixture.
The teams last played in a preseason friendly on August 1, 2023 at the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo. Inter won the contest 2-1 with Stefano Sensi scoring the game-winner in the 83rd minute.

Why did star player Hakimi leave Inter for PSG?
Current PSG defender Achraf Hakimi last played for Inter Milan in the 2020-21 season.
The Spanish-born speedy right-back, widely regarded as one of the best full-backs in the world, was a casualty of Inter’s huge cost-cutting drive caused, in large part, by the financial debts attributed to the COVID-19 shutdown period.
Hakimi appeared in 37 matches for the Italian giants, scoring seven goals and racking up eight assists as Inter won their first domestic league title since 2010.

Enrique has a fully fit squad to choose from, no doubt boosted by the fact that PSG wrapped up the French top flight with six games to spare – thereafter managing the players’ workloads in the run-up to the final.
Inter pushed champions Napoli to the wire in Serie A – which concluded last Friday – so will inevitably feel heavier in the legs.
Inter fullback Benjamin Pavard and striker Lautaro Martinez are both expected to be fully fit, with the latter having returned to the bench in recent matches.
“My wish is to have everyone available on Saturday evening,” Inzaghi said. “We’re going to approach the final in the best possible way.”

What the managers had to say
Luis Enrique, PSG manager: “It’s Inter Milan’s second final in three years. They’re ready. They’ve not made too many changes to their side. It’s a team that dominates from set pieces. It’s up to us to go into the final in the right frame of mind.
“We’ve grown a lot this season and the players have progressed a lot. I think the strength of the team is the most important thing. You learn something every day after many years of experience as a coach, and I’m improving all the time with this group.”
Simone Inzaghi, Inter Milan manager: “The players did something extraordinary. We played four amazing games against two world-class teams like Bayern and Barcelona. It was great to celebrate this achievement [reaching the final] here with our fans.”

Prince’s security had to separate Combs from Cassie Ventura after he attacked her at party, ex-employee says
Mia testified that the music mogul physically attacked Cassie Ventura during a 2010 party hosted by Prince — and that Prince’s security had to step in to stop the assault.
The ex-employee, who is testifying under the pseudonym Mia, recounted that the incident happened the night after an award show, which Ventura and another witness previously identified as the Emmys.
According to Mia, Combs had told Ventura he would be spending the night with his children and instructed Mia to stay with her at a hotel to keep her company. But when they got word of a party at Prince’s house, Ventura and Mia decided to go.
“Cass and I debated like little kids if we should sneak out of the house,” Mia said.
At the party, they were enjoying themselves dancing and watching Prince perform — until Combs showed up.
“I remember seeing his bucket hat,” Mia testified. “We locked eyes.”
Mia said she and Ventura immediately ran, but Combs caught up to Ventura outside. “He had her on the ground,” Mia said. “He started attacking her, but Prince’s security swiftly intervened.”
Fearing for her safety, Mia said she didn’t return to the hotel that night and stayed elsewhere.

Mia breaks down while recalling alleged violent assault by Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs
Mia got emotional on the stand as she described a brutal attack she says she witnessed between Combs and singer Cassie Ventura.
Testifying in court, Mia recalled seeing Combs follow Ventura into a bedroom and lift her off the ground. “I saw him pick her up and thought, ‘Is he going to kill her?’” she said.
According to Mia, Combs then slammed Ventura’s head into the corner of a bedframe, causing her head to “start gushing blood.”
After the attack, Mia said Combs ordered her to contact an assistant and arrange for a plastic surgery consultation to treat Ventura’s wound. She was instructed to tell the doctor Ventura had injured herself while drunk.
“I thought that was the only way to get her help,” Mia explained. “And because Puff told me to.”
When asked by prosecutor Madison Smyser about Combs’ demeanor during the assault, Mia said, “His eyes turned, like, black… it was like he was looking through me. There was no getting through.”

Mia recounted an incident at Cassie Ventura’s apartment where she and celebrity stylist Deonte Nash were helping Cassie pack for a trip.
She testified that Combs suddenly arrived, pounding on the door before entering and yelling at Ventura, “Have you been drinking?”
According to Mia, Combs became “extremely aggressive” and physically attacked Ventura, throwing her to the ground.
“Deonte and I immediately jumped in to stop him,” Mia said. “We were both trying to pull him off her. At one point, he had Deonte in a hold that made me fear for his life, so I jumped on Combs’ back.”

In the message, Ventura expressed frustration about being unable to perform due to budget issues: “I have been informed that I cannot perform on Monday due to overages in costs. I have worked very hard, but I cannot support myself on the things that I need in order to move forward and make this show happen and run smoothly.”

Ex-assistant recalls “exhausting” demands working for Diddy as jury shown job list
In court testimony, former assistant “Mia” described the overwhelming scope of responsibilities she was expected to manage while working for Sean “Diddy” Combs – expectations so intense, she once documented them in a detailed list to another employee in 2011.
Mia said she created the list after Combs, whom she referred to as “PD,” made a “threatening” remark that left her feeling pressured to justify her role. The list, seen by the jury, painted a picture of round-the-clock availability and hyper-vigilance.
Among the duties she listed:
Mia emphasized the chaotic nature of the job by writing that she could be asked to do up to “17,000 things at one time,” ranging from the mundane to the bizarre — “cracking his knuckles to writing his next movie to doing his taxes,” she wrote.

Mia says severe sleep deprivation was routine while working for Diddy
Mia told jurors she didn’t get a moment’s rest during her first full day on the job — a grueling start she initially assumed was some kind of test tied to her two-week probation.
But as time went on, she said, it became clear this wasn’t a one-off. The extreme hours and lack of sleep weren’t temporary — they were standard.
Going days without rest was common, she testified. In one particularly brutal stretch, Mia said she worked five consecutive days with no sleep, staying awake with the help of extended-release Adderall.

‘Mia’ described what she called a relentless and exhausting work environment, where sleep was a rare luxury.
On her very first day, Mia said she went a full 24 hours without rest. Initially, she assumed the sleepless stretch might be part of a test during her two-week probation period. But she soon realized this was not an exception — it was standard practice.
Sleep deprivation became routine, Mia testified, claiming that she sometimes went multiple days without rest. In one instance, she said: “I worked five days straight without sleeping,” relying on extended-release Adderall to stay functional.

Defense argues Nash’s testimony differs from his account prior to trial
Defense attorney Donaldson has argued that stylist Nash’s testimony on the stand doesn’t match his account to prosecutors prior to the trial regarding Cassie’s 29th birthday.
Nash testified in court on Wednesday that Diddy and Cassie argued during her birthday dinner, with the rapper telling her that he did everything for her but that she couldn’t do “this one thing”.
However, Donaldson said the government’s interview notes didn’t include those details and that he didn’t tell prosecutors about Combs pointing in Cassie’s face while they were in a karaoke bar that night.
Danny Jones and his wife Georgia, who was allegedly filmed kissing Maura Higgins at a BRIT Awards afterparty, are portrayed as “passing ships.”

Singer Danny Jones and his wife Georgia faced a tough time earlier this year – after the McFly singer was pictured kissing his I’m A Celebrity… campmate Maura Higgins at a showbiz bash.
Nearly two months after the scandal, for which Danny issued a public apology, Georgia, 38, and Danny, 39, are reportedly “passing ships in the night.” Danny, the king of the I’m A Celebrity jungle, and his campmate Maura were caught kissing one another at a boiscious afterparty at the BRIT Awards, where they reportedly partied until 6am.
Georgia and Cooper, who are the McFly rockers’ sons, temporarily moved out of their family home before moving back in. Danny thanked his wife and son in a statement released in front of the public. Ex-Love Islander Maura, 34, has kept her silence on the subject and has busy herself with new career endeavors and trips with friends.

Georgia posted a number of photos on her Instagram account as the married couple navigate their new lives while the couple navigate their new lives after getting married. Georgia shared photos of her spending time with friends, working on upcoming projects, and soaking up special moments with her son Cooper, who is seen posing with friends and playing the guitar before taking a Go Ape course.

The alleged Instagram snub comes amid rumors that Georgia and Danny, who have been married for ten years after meeting in 2009, are trying to get past the difficult times.
