Los Angeles will become the first city to incorporate two stadiums into an Olympics opening ceremony when it hosts the Games in 2028.

Both the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the SoFi Stadium will host the event on 14 July 2028, organisers of LA28 have confirmed.

The Coliseum, which was used at the 1932 and 1984 Olympics, also hosts the closing ceremony on 30 July and becomes the first venue to hold events across three Games.

The SoFi Stadium, home to NFL sides the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers, will host the Paralympics opening ceremony on 15 August with the event closing at the Coliseum on 27 August.

“The venues selected for the 2028 opening and closing ceremonies will highlight Los Angeles’ rich sporting history and cutting-edge future, showcasing the very best that LA has to offer on the world stage,” LA28 chair Casey Wasserman said.

“These two extraordinary venues will create an unforgettable experience, welcoming fans from across the globe to an Olympic and Paralympic Games like never before and concluding what will go down as one of the most-incredible Games in history.”

Details of the opening ceremony, including how the two stadiums will be used, are yet to be confirmed.

The Coliseum, which is home to Collegiate American football side the USC Trojans, will hold the track and field events during the first week at the Olympics.

The SoFi Stadium is set to host the swimming competitions in week two.

Peter Andre leaves fans divided over sweet family trip as he shares rare group snaps

Peter Andre faced more criticism as he shared a number of sweet snaps from his holiday to Abu Dhabi with his wife Emily Andre and his five children, Junior, Princess, Amelia, Theo and Arabella

Peter Andre took to social media to share an array of sweet snaps from his recent family holiday. The Mysterious Girl singer, 52, was joined by wife Emily and his five kids; Junior and Princess from his marriage to Katie Price, and Amelia, Theo and Arabella with Emily.

The star shared images of him with his youngest in the pool, and also a group image by the water, with the faces of his three children with Emily blocked by love heart emojis. He also uploaded shots of all his brood taking in the aquarium views.

He captioned the uploads: “We had the best time at @yasisland exploring all the parks. So special to have the whole family together, there truly is something for everyone. We’ll definitely be back!”

However, the location choice divided the opinion of his fans. One user responded to his post: “Looks like an amazing trip but can we all agree SeaWorld is hell for animals and not go there? Thank you please. Especially our favourite celebrities with huge followings.”

Another pleaded with Peter: “”Please don’t support SeaWorld,” while a third sobbed: “I’m so sad to see you visiting SeaWorld. The cruelty around these ‘entertainment’ parks are obvious and you could use your platform to help end the suffering endured by highly intelligent mammals. Very disappointing.”

However, others ignored the criticism, with one simply saying: “Beautiful family,” with a string of clapping hands and love heart emojis. Another added: “I’m obsessed with your entire family’s outfit coordination here.”

It’s not the only backlash Peter has faced recently. His new film Jafaican has faced huge criticism since the release of its trailer. The film follows Peter’s character, Gary Buckle, who decides to impersonate a Jamaican gangster in order to steal his money to pay for his own grandmother’s care home fees.

Peter stars alongside the likes of Wil Johnson, Jamie Lomas and Oliver Samuels in the film. However, his portrayal was widely slammed on social media.

He recently spoke out in defence of the project, though. As he promoted the film on Channel 7 in Australia, he explained his character’s journey. He said: “He [his character] tries everything and basically comes up with this scheme because apparently Gary looks like this guy in Jamaica who happens to be ready to inherit $3 million.

“So he comes up with this planning thinking ‘well if I look like him, surely I could just go to Jamaica for a little bit and keep my mouth shut maybe and I’ll get the money and help my nan’. And of course, that’s not gonna go smoothly at all.”

He was asked in the interview: “The trailer did see some headlines about an English-born Australian-raised actor playing a Jamaican character, you know about that. Are you surprised there’s been some mixed feedback here or were you anticipating that?”

Peter responded: “Well, to be fair, I mean, I think it’s good to get all sorts of feedback. I mean, this is not … it’s my first lead role but I’ve done quite a few roles before. And all of them, I’ve played different characters.

“So for me, it’s acting – I get to do something light-hearted, something funny. Something that y’know is the kind of film I’d wanna watch. So it’s almost like a little bit self-indulgent in the sense that I get to do something that I’ve really, really wanted to do.”

Kelsey Parker hit with stark reminder of late husband Tom’s three year anniversary

Ahead of hosting a charity football match in memory of her late husband Tom, Kelsey Parker says the event is a stark reminder that it’s been three years without The Wanted singer.

Kelsey Parker has opened up about the emotional reminder that it’s been three years since she lost her husband Tom Parker to a brain tumour, with The Wanted singer passing away in 2022 around 18 months after being diagnosed.

The mum-of-two is hosting a charity football match this weekend in Tom’s memory, which will see stars such as Ryan Thomas and Dan Osborne take to the pitch to raise money for brain tumours. And while it’s all for a good cause, Kelsey admits during an exclusive interview that it also reminds her of losing Tom.

“It’s a day like the football match when the realisation that he’s not here hits, so it is emotional,” says Kelsey, who adds, “This is our third match, I can’t believe it’s been three years since we lost him.”

Of planning the event, which takes place this Saturday at Bromley FC’s Hayes Lane stadium, Kelsey continues, “I’m the biggest control freak going, so Tom will be laughing down being like, ‘Oh, why do you just try and take control of everything, Kelsey, you bring the stress on’. But it’s something I love and I’m passionate about, I want it to be perfect for him.”

Kelsey – who says keeping busy helps her work through the grief – is a mum to daughter Aurelia and son Bodhi, who she welcomed with Tom before he passed. The couple were together for over 13 years, getting married in Surrey in 2018.

Explaining how the kids are involved too, she says, “They are so excited. Bodhi is going to come on the pitch before the match started with his little football team and then Aurelia is performing with my performing arts school during half time.

“They’re getting older each year, so they understand it more. This week, they keep saying, ‘Did you know that Daddy’s football match is on Saturday?’ They were really excited.”

Now, Kelsey is becoming a mum for the third time and is set to welcome her first child with new partner Will Lindsay, who she began dating last year. And describing Will’s close bond with her children, Kelsey says he has given full support to keeping Tom’s memory alive.

“Will brought his whole family and some friends along too, so he rallied the troops,” she laughs. “He loves Bodhi and Aurelia, so, for him, he wants to help for them.”

She adds of their tight-knit bond, “The kids are so close with Will. He went away for the weekend recently and they literally hated that he went away. They rang him every day and were like, ‘When are you coming back? You’re not allowed to go on holiday again without us.’

“I think it’s because they’ve lost someone too, as other children probably wouldn’t be like that with a new father figure in their life. They hate him going away and are really close with him”.

Kelsey Parker admits ‘it’s so important’ as she keeps Tom’s memory alive

Tom Parker’s widowed wife Kelsey Parker has revealed her appreciation at those setting up a charity event in his honour as she reveals how important it is to keep his memory alive

Widowed Kelsey Parker is determined to keep the memory of her late husband alive, three years after his death. The Wanted star Tom Parker sadly died on March 30, 2022 at the age of 33. He had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour a year earlier.

Kelsey and Tom shared two children together, Aurelia and Bodhi. She is currently pregnant with baby number three with new partner, Will Lindsay. But she is making sure Tom’s legacy continues.

Since his death, an annual charity football match has been set up in the singer’s honour. It has grown into a heartfelt legacy event, a celebration of Tom’s life and a vital fundraiser for brain tumour awareness and support, with proceeds going to Ahead of the Game, the charity that supported Tom and his family throughout his battle with the illness.

Ahead of this year’s event, Kelsey shared her gratitude to those involved. She said: “To raise awareness for brain tumours and vital funds for Ahead of The Game is so important to me and all my family.

“We’re so happy to be able to do this again for the third year running. The support has once again been fantastic. A huge thank you to Grove Gallery for returning as our official sponsor and to Bromley F.C. for hosting us once more, it really is a brilliant community and family day out, so please do come down and support us.”

Love Island’s Luca Bish has also been involved, as have Strictly professionals Neil Jones and Kai Widdrington.

This year’s star-studded line-up is set to go even bigger. The likes of the Thomas brothers have signed up once again, with Dan Osborne and Made In Chelsea’s Jack Taylor also set for a run out.

Soap stars such as Jaden Ladega of EastEnders and Corrie’s Alex Bain are also signed up, while boxer Derek Chisora is set to be manager of Team Parker.

A number of other reality TV stars, including Love Island’s Ronnie Vint have also been confirmed as taking part.

Others to be remembering Tom were his former bandmate Max George. On the anniversary of Tom’s death, Max shared an emotional tribute to his close pal as he battles his own health issues.
