Nicola Peltz ‘mocked’ by Brooklyn Beckham’s brothers on Instagram amid family feud

It has been rumoured that Nicola Peltz doesn’t see eye to eye with her husband Brooklyn Beckham’s famous family – and fans have now picked up what appears to be a dig from Cruz

Nicola Peltz has been “mocked” by Brooklyn Beckham’s brothers on Instagram amid their family feud, it has been reported. Romeo and Cruz Beckham seemed to have a dig at their sister-in-law when they replied in the comment section of one of their photos last month.

This comes after it’s been rumoured that Nicola doesn’t see eye to eye with the Beckhams after marrying eldest Beckham son Brooklyn back in 2022. It’s thought that one source of their arguments is over Romeo’s girlfriend Kim Turnbull, who Brooklyn is said to have been close to in the past. At the start of April, Romeo’s ex-girlfriend model Mia Regan posted a photo from her latest cover shoot on Instagram. Nicola, who reportedly became close to Mia during her relationship with Romeo, commented: “So beautiful Mia.”

Just two days after this, Romeo shared a collection of pictures on his own Instagram page, including of his current girlfriend Kim. Romeo and Cruz seemed to have a dig at Nicola as Cruz commented: “So beautiful Romeo.”

Romeo then responded with three cry laughing emojis. While the brothers could’ve thought they were being subtle, several followers picked up on the dig in the comment section.

One said: “Childish,” with another adding: “@cruzbeckham you copy @nicolaannepeltzbeckham s comment to Mia? Why?” The Mirror has reached out to Romeo and Cruz Beckham for comment. This comes as it has been reported that the real reason for the “relationship fracture” between Victoria and David and Nicola has been revealed.

Nicola’s friends have made claims what the real reasons for the fallout are as a pal has suggested that there is “emotional abuse and toxic behaviour” between the family which is why the four are unable to get along. However, David and Victoria reject the claims and are outraged by the suggestions.

A source close to the Beckhams said: “I don’t think anyone who has ever seen David and Victoria with their children would recognise this deeply unpleasant attack. It doesn’t even warrant a response it’s so ludicrous and patently untrue.” While another source told The Mirror that the couple have been left “open mouthed” after hearing the suggestions.

Nicola’s friend said: “We are at this point because Nicola, an outsider coming into the Beckham family, has been able to help Brooklyn see the emotional abuse and toxic behaviour within his family, that it’s not healthy and it’s not normal and it’s not ok.”

However, someone close to the Beckhams said they were “pumping out untruths” as they added: “You wouldn’t expect this of your worst enemy, let alone close family members. The whole thing beggars belief.”

Tries: Greening, Bryer, Howard Goal: Bennett

Wigan (30) 44

Wigan Warriors reached the Women’s Challenge Cup final for the first time as they demolished two-time winners Leeds Rhinos in York.

Anna Davies went in for Wigan twice inside the opening 10 minutes, while Georgia Wilson, Grace Banks, Megan Williams and Emily Veivers added to the tally by the break.

Things went from bad to worse for Leeds as they lost Bella Sykes to a failed head injury assessment (HIA) and Ruby Walker to an ankle injury.

Molly Jones and Banks picked up where Wigan left off, before Jenna Greening and Tally Bryer got Leeds going.

Wigan avenge semi-final disappointment

Leeds had won their past 12 meetings with Wigan, including semi-final wins in the past two seasons.

Yet the Warriors quickly justified their pre-match favourites tag as they exploited weakness on the Rhinos left edge to give Davies two early scores in the right corner.

Davies was inches away from a hat-trick before poor defence allowed Wilson to add a third Wigan try.

Player of the match Banks turned on the afterburners to grab the first try of her brace. Williams’ close-range effort and burst from Papua New Guinea international Vievers then effectively ended the game before half-time as the Warriors led 30-0.

Jones broke through a couple of tackles to extend the lead and Banks then made it 38-0.

An improved Leeds pulled two scores back in four minutes around the hour mark through Greening and a nice finish from Bryer – the first points Wigan had conceded in their cup run.

Leeds: Stead; Bryer, Greening, Boyd, Whitbread; Howard, Walker; Sykes, Bennett, Northrop, Lacey, Murray, Dainton.

Interchanges: Bruce, Donnelly, Glynn, Short.

Wigan: Banks; Davies, Wilson, Jones, Derbyshire; Foubister, Rowe; Coleman, Wilton, Speakman, Hunter, Power, Williams.

Interchanges: Marsh, Thompson, Casey, Veivers.

BBC Radio 1 in chaos as presenters stop show to announce ‘technical difficulties’

BBC Radio 1 presenters were forced to halt competition calls from listeners after experiencing ‘technical difficulties’ during their Radio 1 Big Weekender ticket giveaway

BBC Radio One’s Big Weekend event plummeted into chaos after the phone line competition application system completely crashed. Fans rushed to call the number in order to win tickets for the Big Weekend event but found phone lines had gone down, leaving them devastated.

Explaining the technical issues, Nat O’Leary told fans: “We are experiencing technical difficulties with our phone lines at the moment unfortunately so we cannot run the competition at the moment.” In addition, Ore Olukoga added: “We can’t but we will let you know as soon as we have the phone lines up and running again and we’ll get the competition on very soon.” Later in the show, the phone lines were back up-and-running again.

On the Radio One Big Weekend website, it instructed fans to call the competition phone line 03700 100 100 during a ten minute registration window.

Radio One phone handlers were set the task to receive calls from hopefuls and conduct “eligibility checks” which included asking entrants “how much do you want to win this prize?”

On the back of their answer, the handlers will then score the entrants’ answers based on their “passion for the prize.”

Following the initial elimination process, those with the highest scores will then appear on air to play the game “name the artist” music quiz.

And this involved fans identifying the music artist in a short clip with only five seconds to answer.

If then lucky entrant failed to answer within the allocated time, or answered incorrectly, they failed to win tickets to the coveted event.

The celebrity artists that are due to take part in the annual event include rapper Aitch, AJ Tracey, Inhaler, Wolf Alice, who will perform on May 24.

Back in January, BRIT award winner Sam Fender was announced as the headliner on the main stage, along with Myles Smith and Blossoms.

The annual music event will take place at Liverpool’s Sefton Park over two days between May 23 and May 25.

Other artists performing on Friday 23rd include Tom Grennan, Biffy Clyro, Nia Archives, Confidence Man, Barry Can’t Swim.

Myles Smith described performing at the annual event as “unreal”. He added: “Big Weekend was always a dream of mine, and to be on the line-up again is insane.”

Messy singer Lola Young, who has achieved global recognition, is also set to perform at the annual weekender and described that it was going to be a “messy” affair, which is a nod to her hit song.

Dermot Murnaghan launches attack on ex newsreader colleagues over advert he’d ‘never do’

The former Sky News presenter, 67, said he wouldn’t name names but it was clear which famous newsmen he was referring to – while he didn’t spare John Sergeant for his dodgy dance moves either

Dermot Murnaghan has launched an acerbic attack on his former newsreader colleagues who have taken money for appearing in adverts he says are ripping off customers.

The veteran broadcaster, who left Sky News in 2023 after 15 years at the helm, refused to name names when he slammed “former news people” who are flogging overpriced gold sovereigns. But he was clearly referring to former fellow colleagues Michael Buerk and Nicholas Owen, who have both appeared in commercials selling gold coins for Hattons of London.

Speaking to the Mirror, Dermot, 67, said: “When you’re a live newsreader you’re banned by Ofcom from advertising anything, because you have a degree of credibility. But once you stop, you can, and some of my former colleagues do. Some of the things they advertise, well, I’m going to leave it there, I wouldn’t”.

But went on: “I may be cutting off a lucrative revenue stream for myself, but gold sovereigns at four times the price that they actually do cost, yeah, I wouldn’t do that.

“Let me say to anyone who sees this, you can get gold sovereigns, if you want them – I don’t have any, but just look up the price – cheaper than those being pumped towards you by some former news people.”

Hattons of London, a website which sells commemorative gold coins and sovereigns, proudly claims Michael Buerk is their “most recurring presenter” who has helped them sell products since 2020, including the 2020 VE Day 75th Anniversary Gold Sovereign Range and the 2022 Queen Elizabeth II Tribute Gold One Eighth Sovereign.

Buerk, whose reporting of the Ethiopian famine in in 1984 inspired Band Aid, was anchor of the BBC News at Ten until his retirement in 2024.

Nicholas Owen, who worked for ITV Evening News and BBC news role before retiring in 2019 after a career spanning over 50 years, has also worked for Hattons, advertising their St George and the Dragon Bi-Metallic Gold Sovereign Range in 2022.

Since his own retirement, Dermot has carved a different career path as the presenter of several popular true crime series on Crime+Investigation. He’s back on screens next week with the fifth run of Killer Britain with Dermot Murnaghan, which delves into some of Britain’s most chilling murder cases.

But the veteran newsman admitted it’s still “incredibly frustrating” to just be a normal TV viewer and not in the interviewer’s seat. I’m throwing soft shoes at the television screen and knocking the radio over when I hear it, because that’s my obsession, I can’t give it up.

“If I hear another politician say ‘nothing’s off the table’ or ‘we’re doing this for the national interest”, I’m just screaming, ‘Of course you are, but what are you doing?! What the heckity-heck does that mean?’”

And he didn’t spare another fellow newsreader, John Sergeant, famous after his retirement for his cringy dance moves on Strictly – something else Dermot said he won’t do.

Dermot revealed he once had secret tests for the BBC show. He said: “I had some meetings with the producers and I did one of the secret squirrel test dances, where you get to dance with one of the wonderful dancers in a blacked out rehearsal room in central London, four or five months before the production

“I did mine and I turned to the producers sitting at the edge of the floor and said to them, ‘You can see I have no rhythm, I can’t hold the tune, and I certainly can’t dance. And they chucked and went, ‘Exactly.’ They obviously want someone just like that.”

But he said he couldn’t bring himself to embarrass himself on live TV. He said: “I don’t think I could do it. Every season has an old guy, you know. Although no-one goes as far as John Sergeant. Who could ever forget that? Dragging his poor dancer around the room like a coat at a party.”

Liverpool vs Arsenal: Premier League; start time, team news, lineups

Who: Liverpool vs Arsenal
What: English Premier League
Where: Anfield, Liverpool, United Kingdom
When: Sunday at 4:30pm local time (15:30 GMT)

Follow Al Jazeera Sport‘s live text and photo commentary stream.

Liverpool were crowned Premier League champions in front of their fans two weeks ago when Arne Slot’s side thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 5-1.

Now they face an Arsenal side wounded by not only their third consecutive second-place finish in the English top-flight but also their elimination from the Champions League on Tuesday.

Manager Mikel Arteta has come out fighting with regards to what the Gunners need to do to take the next step in their hunt for silverware – and that starts with their visit to face the Reds.

What has Arteta said ahead of the game?

Arteta has urged Arsenal to use the frustration of having to give champions Liverpool a guard of honour on Sunday as fuel to win the Premier League title next season after admitting they have gone “backwards” this term.

“Something has to drive you, motivate you, and pain for this is a good one to use when you really want to do something. It’s the right thing to do, usually as a motivation for next season,” Arteta said of Arsenal’s guard of honour for the champions.

“They’ve been the best team, they’ve been the most consistent, and what Slot and the coaching staff have done has been fascinating, it’s been really good.

“They fully deserve it, and that’s the sport. If somebody is better, you have to accept it and try to reach that level.”

What happened to Arsenal’s Champions League hopes?

The Gunners were beaten 2-1 by Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday to end their bid to win the tournament for the first time.

It was a painful loss for Arsenal, who created a host of chances in the early stages of the second leg but could not find a way past inspired PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

When did Arsenal last win the Premier League?

After finishing as runners-up to Manchester City for the previous two seasons, the north Londoners remain without a title since 2004.

What is Liverpool’s take on the game?

Liverpool are in cruise control in the Premier League with a 15-point gap to Arsenal in second.

The Gunners themselves are only six points from slipping out of the Champions League qualification positions.

Mathematically, the Gunners could finish as low as seventh, which would also mean they finish outside the Europa League qualification spots.

“Both teams look forward to playing this game. Difficult to predict,” Reds boss Slot said when asked what kind of game he expects.

“There is a little bit at stake for Arsenal, as I presume they would rather finish second than third or fourth. Difficult to predict if it will be edgy, but it is a game to look forward to.”

What was the result in the reverse fixture?

The sides shared a 2-2 draw at Emirates Stadium in October.

Bukayo Saka and Mikel Merino twice gave the Gunners the lead, with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah coming up with the equalisers.

How can Arsenal bridge the gap?

Arsenal’s failure to sign a striker in the January transfer window was a big blow in a season marred by long injury absences for Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka at various stages.

“In January, it was clear or not? I made a very clear statement, and the statement continues the same. I want the best team, the best players. If we have three goal scorers over 25, bring them in, we’re going to be a much better team, yes,” Arteta said.

“We are there, we are providing the numbers that win you titles. We have to be a little bit luckier, but still do better to make sure that nobody has a season better than you.”

Head-to-head

Arsenal have not won at Anfield since 2012 – a match that Arteta played in for the Gunners.

The north Londoners are, however, on a five-match unbeaten run against the Reds, winning two of those.

Liverpool team news

Right-back Conor Bradley will start the match, as revealed by Slot in his pre-match news conference. Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has announced he will leave the club this summer, is set to be named among the subs as a result.

Joe Gomez is the only other major absentee for the Reds.

Arsenal team news

Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Magalhaes, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kai Havertz all remain sidelined for the Gunners.
