Louise Thompson shares her ‘elite’ go-to £12 fake tan that ‘doesn’t stain bedsheets’

Louise Thompson raved about her favourite at-home spray tan that doesn’t stain bed sheets, saying even her partner Ryan can’t resist borrowing it to get a natural-looking glow

Summer is the prime time to restart your fake tan routine as we get ready to bare some skin, giving an instant glow without risking damaging your skin by sitting in the sun. However we all know the pains of using self tanner, with everything from streaks and patchiness to ending up with stained bed sheets and clothes making it much more troublesome than we’d like it to be.

However Louise Thompson has shared her go-to solution that creates a gorgeous glow without having to worry about it ruining your bedding. Louise raved about the Tanologist Self Tan Water, which is currently on sale at Amazon down from £14.99 to £12.52, claiming it was so good that even her partner Ryan Libbey can’t resist stealing it.

Louise shared a quick peek at the results of using the tan – which showed her legs looking extra bronzed and golden brown – and called it “The most elite tan” in her Instagram stories. She also shared a couple of follow ups, where she revealed that Ryan was partial to pinching the tan from her dressing table and using it himself, as she showed off his very bronzed looking skin.

The former Made in Chelsea star also added: “I do dark. And to answer your other questions it’s fragrance free, no rough smells, and it doesn’t stain the bed as it’s clear. It’s my go-to face option and really good for topping up other tans.”

Although Louise opted for the dark shade, you can also get it in light, medium and extra dark shades too, so you can find the one that best suits your skin tone (and how tanned you want to look). If you’re worried about ending up with that telltale green or orange hue, picking a tan that suits your skin’s natural colouring is the best way to avoid this.

Utan’s new undertone-matching self tan comes in both cool and warm undertones, so you can pick the one that best suits your skin tone. Bondi Sands also has its Technocolor range, which comes in tones like magenta, emerald and sapphire to suit all skin colours and undertones.

However, unlike other formulas such as creams or mousses which can be difficult to blend evenly, Louise’s favourite Tanologist Self Tan Water is applied in a mist, which you simply spray straight onto your skin then blend using a brush or mitt. Its clear formula can make it a little tricky to see where you’ve applied it, but it eliminates the risk of transferring tan stains onto your clothes or bedding, which can be tricky to wash out.

The Tanologist Self Tan Water has also been dermatologist approved to be safe for all skin types including sensitive skin, and is free from irritating ingredients that can cause clogged pores and breakouts. In fact, it contains several other hydrating, skin-loving ingredients like pink grapefruit, goji berry and jumpier, which help soften and brighten your skin as you wear it.

Amazon shoppers have praised it too, with one saying: “This product applies so good, no streaks at all and dries really quick. Smells nice when applied but does have that fake tan smell after. Washes off nice to leave a really natural tanned colour. I don’t have to worry about streaks, or patches because the application is smooth. Colour is great, I thought it would be darker but I am happy with the colour it gives.”

Another agreed: “Absolutely Awesome. Game Changer Self Tan Lotion. Love it!”

Some were less thrilled, saying: “I liked the colour it gave but found it difficult to put on evenly, even after buying the special spray. I shall continue to use on my face, using a cotton pad though. Shame really as I do like the effect it gives.”

Others find it easy to apply, though, writing: “The product gives you a natural looking tan, easy to apply, doesn’t mark your clothes.”

Alison Hammond shows off her 11 stone weight loss as she reveals her workout routine

Alison Hammond has lost an impressive 11 stone in weight and after she opened up on her new routine with her ‘amazing’ personal trainer, the popular presenter hit the gym

There was no weekend let up for Alison Hammond’s fitness drive(Image: Instagram)

Slim-line Alison Hammond paraded her fantastic figure on the treadmill as she showed off her dramatic 11 stone weight loss. The presenter, 50, revealed her drop came without the use of weight-loss jabs – but clearly her time in the gym has also contributed.

She sweated it out this weekend with some tight leggings helping her look the part in her workout. She maintained her style with some jewellery as she focused on an exercise plan with a personal trainer.

Her decision to lose weight came after the death of her mother Maria, who had previously shared her concerns regarding her daughter’s pre-diabetic diagnosis.

At her heaviest, the popular This Morning regular weighed in at 28 stone but her new look has left everyone wowed – and she’s not stopping there. In an interview with Heat Magazine recently, she said: “I feel amazing. I feel happy within myself.”

She further remarked on her fitness routine: “I’ve got a personal trainer – she’s amazing. She trains me when I can train. If I’m working, I don’t train, I’ll go for a walk.” She went on to say: “I don’t deny myself anything. I eat everything but in moderation.”

Previously, Alison shared that she keeps weights in her bedroom and enjoys pilates and yoga. Addressing her eating habits, she reveals that instead of cutting out foods, she practices moderation.

Speaking to Women’s Health magazine, Alison detailed how she has reduced her intake of high-fat and sugar-rich foods, saying: “My mum had type 2 diabetes and she was worried for me.

“So when I then found out that I was pre-diabetic, that was frightening. “I thought: ‘I have to be an adult about this’. The sweets had to stop – and the fatty foods.”

After making changes to her diet and daily routine, Alison is delighted to share that she’s reversed her pre-diabetic status. She revealed to the magazine: “I’m no longer pre-diabetic, so I’m a bit naughtier with my food now. But because my body’s working properly, I can allow myself a bit of sugar here and there.”

Alison is now embracing her new figure with confidence, saying: “I love my new shape and although I still have areas I’m conscious of, such as my arms and tummy, it’s great being able to wear things I would never have been able to before. I mean, look at me, I’m a bombshell.”

Alison explained she was put off considering weight loss medication after hearing “scare stories”. The star however says she “wouldn’t look down on anyone who did”.

Off screen, Alison found love with 27 year old masseur David Putman, fostering rumours that her weight loss may be influenced by matrimonial aspirations.

Why did Virat Kohli retire from Tests and what does 269 mean?

After 14 years playing Test matches, Virat Kohli is retiring from the national team as one of the immortals of Indian cricket.

“Honestly, I never imagined the journey this format would take me on. It’s tested me, shaped me, and taught me lessons I’ll carry for life,” Kohli wrote on Monday in his Test retirement social media post.

“There’s something deeply personal about playing in whites. The quiet grind, the long days, the small moments that no-one sees but that stay with you forever,” he added.

Here is all to know about the retirement of India’s hugely impactful batter and captain:

Why is Virat Kohli retiring from Tests?

Kohli’s declining form in the five-day format of cricket may have prompted his decision to call it a day.

After averaging close to 55 at his peak between 2011 and 2019, he could muster a batting average of just 32.56 over the past 24 months.

Kohli’s last Test was in Sydney in January when India lost the match, and with it the series 3-1, to Australia.

Apart from an unbeaten century in the second innings of the first Test in Perth, Kohli managed just 90 runs from eight innings in the five-Test series.

Kohli has previously cited mental fatigue and injuries as other reasons to consider retirement.

“As I step away from this format, it’s not easy – but it feels right. I’ve given it everything I had, and it’s given me back so much more than I could’ve hoped for,” Kohli said.

What does Virat #269 mean?

Kohli used #269 in his Instagram post while announcing his retirement on Monday.

The number denotes Kohli as the 269th player who represented India in Test cricket.

What will Kohli do next?

Kohli will continue to play for the Indian cricket team in One-Day International (ODI) matches, but with Test match commitments removed from his schedule, he will now have more time to pursue other interests outside of the game.

The 36-year-old has an expanding business empire in India. He is an active investor in large-scale fitness, hospitality and clothing companies such as Chisel fitness centre, Rage Coffee, sportswear brand One8, WROGN menswear brand and Blue Tribe, to name just a few.

He is also a global brand ambassador for multiple international companies, including Puma, Audi and Vivo.

Unlike many top cricketers, Kohli has not indicated that he will pursue a cricket commentary career, but he has repeatedly talked about giving back to the game in some form, with coaching a possible option in the future.

Once retired, will Kohli move to England?

In December 2024, it was widely reported that Kohli was planning to leave India and settle in London with his wife, actor Anushka Sharma, and their two children, daughter Vamika and son Akaay, according to his childhood cricket coach Rajkumar Yadav, who hinted at the impending move in an interview with Hindi newspaper Dainik Jagran.

What is Kohli’s net worth?

It has been reported that Kohli’s net worth is about 96 million pounds ($126m) from salaries, businesses and endorsement deals.

What are Kohli’s key career Test match stats?

  • Kohli leaves with seven double centuries, the most by an Indian player and the fourth most in Test history. Six of them came in an extraordinary 18-month, 33-innings spell from July 2016 to December 2017 – a period in which he was the number one batter in the format.
  • The number of Test centuries made by Kohli – only 14 players have more. He also had 31 half-centuries.
  • Kohli’s highest Test score was 254, made against South Africa in Pune, India, in October 2019. He finished the innings not out, and it was the last of his double centuries.
  • He was captain in 68 Tests, winning 40 of them – the most for an Indian captain and fourth overall in Test cricket.
  • The number of Test runs made by Kohli – 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85 – ranks him fourth on the all-time list of India players behind fellow greats Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sunil Gavaskar.
  • Kohli’s total of 692 runs in four Tests is the most by any Indian batsman in a Test series in Australia.

Married to a Bollywood star, Kohli has 272 million followers on Instagram and 67.8 million on X – making him one of the most followed sports stars on the planet.

His popularity has been a key factor behind cricket’s return to the Olympics at the 2028 Games in Los Angeles, the organisers acknowledged last year.

Reaction to Kohli’s retirement

Greg Chappell, former Australia captain:

“Kohli redefined expectations, challenged conventions, and symbolised the self-assured, unapologetic India of the 21st century,” Chappell said in a piece on ESPN CricInfo.

“His departure leaves not only a statistical void but a seismic shift in energy – for there has never been another quite like him.

“No Indian captain had ever marshalled a team to such commanding overseas dominance. And no batter since Tendulkar had so unequivocally ruled in every continent.”

Jasprit Bumrah, India bowler:

“From making my Test debut under your captaincy to reaching new heights together for our country, your passion and energy will be missed but the legacy you leave behind remains unmatched.”

Sanath Jayasuriya, former Sri Lanka captain:

“While the world celebrates your cricketing brilliance and records, what I admire most is your unwavering commitment to fitness and the sacrifices you’ve made behind the scenes.”

Diplomatic spat ignites as Poland accuses Russia of sabotage

Poland has summoned the Russian ambassador and shuttered the country’s consulate in Krakow as it accuses Moscow of “sabotage”.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Warsaw announced the action on Monday as it reported that an investigation had found that Russian intelligence services had orchestrated a massive fire at a shopping centre in capital Warsaw in May 2024.

“Due to evidence that the Russian special services committed a reprehensible act of sabotage against the shopping centre on Marywilska Street, I have decided to withdraw my consent to the operation of the Consulate of the Russian Federation in Krakow,” Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski wrote on X on Monday.

The announcement followed a revelation by Prime Minister Donald Tusk the previous day that a yearlong investigation had revealed Moscow was behind the blaze, which gutted the shopping centre’s 1,400 retail units.

“We already know for sure that the large fire on Marywilska was the result of arson ordered by Russian services. The actions were coordinated by a person staying in Russia. Some of the perpetrators are already in custody, the rest have been identified and are being sought,” Tusk said on X on Sunday.

Deliberately destroying relations

Poland has repeatedly said its role as a hub for aid being sent to Ukraine has made it a target of Russian sabotage, cyberattacks and misinformation.

Several other Western nations have made similar accusations since the Kremlin launched an invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Moscow has persistently denied such allegations, calling them evidence of anti-Russian sentiment. It was quick to insist that it had no involvement in the arson attack and slammed the claim.

“Warsaw continues to deliberately destroy relations, acting against the interests of its citizens,” Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, according to the state news agency RIA.

She added that Russia would soon deliver an “adequate response”.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the allegation of Russian involvement in the fire was totally groundless, and accused Warsaw of Russophobia.

The Polish announcement marks a new low in already tense relations between Warsaw and Moscow.

In October, Poland shuttered the Russian consulate in Poznan due to suspicion of sabotage efforts. Moscow closed the Polish consulate in St Petersburg in response.

Poland’s neighbours, also strong supporters of Ukraine, have made similar accusations of clandestine attacks orchestrated by Russian intelligence services.

Lithuanian prosecutors in March accused Russia of orchestrating an arson attack on an IKEA store in Vilnius, where a fire broke out three days before the blaze in Poland.

Western governments and intelligence agencies in Europe have pointed to Moscow as the source of a series of fires and other acts of sabotage aimed at destabilising allies of Ukraine.

Film Legend Bardot Backs Depardieu Ahead Of Sexual Assault Verdict

Brigitte Bardot has defended two French actors accused of sexual assault including fellow screen legend Gerard Depardieu, saying they should be allowed to “get on with their lives” in an interview with French channel BFM broadcast Monday.

The 90-year-old former French star spoke out as a Paris court prepares to rule on Tuesday in the first case to go to trial against Depardieu, who has been accused of assault or inappropriate behaviour by around 20 women.

She also defended French actor and director Nicolas Bedos, who was found guilty in October 2024 of sexually assaulting two women.

“Those who have talent and put their hands on a girl’s bottom are thrown in the gutter,” Bardot said during an interview from her home in southern France.

“We could at least let them get on with their lives. They can’t live anymore,” she said, adding that “feminism isn’t my thing”.

In March, lead prosecutor Laurent Guy recommended an 18-month suspended jail sentence for Depardieu, arguing that the assaults reported by the two women whose cases are being heard in this trial were “intentional”.

This is not the first time Bardot has been an outspoken critic of the #MeToo movement.

In 2018, she signed an open letter saying that the movement had become a puritanical “witch hunt” that threatened sexual freedom, and that actors who complained of sexual harassment were just looking for publicity.

Since the 1960s film star stepped away from the screen more than 50 years ago, she has become a champion for animal rights.

During Monday’s interview, Bardot urged the French government to abolish the “horrific” practice of hunting with packs of dogs to chase a smaller animal.
