Holly Willoughby’s devastating admission as she discusses life after murder plot

After a man was imprisoned for at least 16 years for plotting to abduct, rape, and murder her, the former This Morning presenter has revealed her time spent in isolation.

Holly Willoughby has made a heartbreaking admission after opening up on taking a step back from our screens after a sick plot to kidnap and murder her.

The former This Morning presenter left the show in October 2023 following 14 years on our screens. At the time she announced she was doing so “for me and my family”. Sharing the news online, she wrote: “It’s been an honour to just be part of its story and I know this story has many chapters left to go. Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family. I will miss you all so much.”

In July 2024, ex security guard Gavin Plumb was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 15 years and 85 days after being found guilty of plotting to kidnap, rape and murder the star. The court heard how the sinister plan had had a ‘life-changing’ impact on Holly, who bravely waived her right to anonymity.

In a rare interview earlier this year, Holly courageously opened up on her experience stepping back from the spotlight following the ordeal. “I wouldn’t wish what happened to me on anybody at all — sometimes things go wrong, but you have to keep going for it because that’s all you can do. You have to hold on to, ultimately, [how] all this serves its purpose. A lot of the change has been really good, you know? I’ve spent a long time not being able to take my kids to school,” she told The Sunday Times Style Magazine.

Every other parent would be like, “Christ, you absolutely dodged a bullet there,” according to the school run. However, there have been so many assemblies that I haven’t been able to attend and missed. His eldest son, Harry, is currently completing his GCSEs; this is his final year of college and A-levels.

She continued, “And I’m actually appreciative of having this time.” I believe I missed that without even realizing it. It’s really lovely to receive some of that back.

The terrifying kidnap and murder plan is laid bare in new Channel 5 documentary, The Plot To Kill Holly Willoughby, which airs today (May 1). The programme looks back on the events from 2023, when Holly was quickly replaced ahead of appearing on This Morning after learning about the vile plot.

Nicola Rice, a specialist prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service, quoted Nicola Rice as saying: “Gavin Plumb will remain in prison where he can no longer threaten or harm women.”

There is no denying that Gavin Plumb’s plans to kidnap, rape, and murder Holly Willoughby were fabricated, and he had the intent to persuade others to do the same.

“I hope the sentence of today sends a comfort to the victim, as well as to the victims of his previous crimes,” said the judge, “and sends a clear message that the CPS will always pursue charges of violence against women.”

Meanwhile in a statement, Holly praised the Crown Prosecution Service and those involved in convicting Plumb. She said: “As women, we should not be made to feel unsafe going about our daily lives and in our own homes. I will forever be grateful to the undercover police officer who understood the imminent threat and to the Metropolitan and Essex police forces for their swift response.

Thank you to the Crown Prosecution Service, the Honorable Mr. Justice Murray, Alison Morgan KC, the jury, and everyone involved in this case for making sure justice was served and that the defendant won’t be able to harm any more women. I’d like to applaud the bravery of his former victims who spoke up at the time. This conviction might not have been possible without their bravery.

Kanye West is planning to sue his dentist for medical malpractice and negligence. The singer’s team has confirmed they are suing Dr Thomas Connelly – know as the father of Diamond Dentistry – after making a string of allegations.

Kanye’s team has given notice to Dr Connelly of their intention to sue him for medical malpractice, gross negligence, fraud, exploitation, abandonment, psychological and emotional trauma, reckless administration of controlled and uncontrolled substances as well as “other malicious and deceitful behaviours”. In a letter from Kanye and wife Bianca Censori’s lawyers, released to the media today, Ye claims he suffered serious injuries and damages as a result of the services he received in 2024 and 2025.

Kanye is alleged to have first visited Kanye for cosmetic dental care in 2024. Various procedures, including specialized prosthodontic work, were allegedly performed. Evidence supports that you engaged in numerous inappropriate and dangerous behaviors while Ye was in your care that were unrelated to any accepted medical condition or standard of care. While Ye was your patient, these actions were not isolated incidents, but rather a pattern of improper behavior by you between 2024 and 2025. As Ye’s spouse, Ms. Censori was a witness and a bearer of many of these events.

There were a number of allegations made in the letter, including one involving Dr. Connelly’s alleged improper and excessive use of nitrous oxide for non-medical purposes.

The lawyers then responded, “You gave Ye instructions on how to self-administrate nitrous oxide and allowed him to do so without any medical supervision or safeguards in place.” You allowed Ye to inhale nitrous oxide on his own, using his means (tanks, masks, etc.) rather than administering sedation only under direct medical supervision (as required for patient safety). and instructions for doing it at will.

Ye “began to exhibit distressing neurological symptoms and erratic behavior consistent with nitrous oxide overuse and toxicity,” according to the letter, adding that the symptoms included “confusion, memory lapses, incoherence, unpredictable changes in mood, impaired motor function, and other cognitive and behavioural impairments.”

Ye’s team also claimed that he had “reportedly spent on the order of $50, 000 per month and, accumulating into the hundreds of thousands of dollars” (). The lengthy documents continued to state that Dr. Connelly has been accused of professional abandonment and that there has been financial exploitation of the patient due to fraudulent billing and overcharging.

Ye asserts that he suffered from physical and neurological injuries, psychological and emotional trauma, as well as financial losses. According to the attorneys, Bianca Censori is suing for consortium loss and related damages.

The Mirror is seeking comment from Dr. Connelly’s team.

Two opposing views on football’s transgender ban

Beginning on June 1, 2018, transgender women will no longer be able to play in women’s football in England, according to the English Football Association.

The FA now allows only those born biologically female to play in women’s football in the wake of the UK Supreme Court’s ruling on April 15 that the legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex.

Sources tell BBC Sport that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is also expected to outlaw transgender women from the women’s game, while the Scottish FA has also announced that it is outlawing transgender women.

“We are no longer able to play football,” the statement read.

Before joining a women’s team in 2017, Washington played football in the men’s Sunday League. One of 28 trans women who had registered to play English amateur football was her.

It shocks me, she told BBC Sport.

This means that we are no longer able to do the things we used to be able to do for decades, as many other football players have done.

I stopped playing the men’s game ten or twelve years ago because I no longer believe it was a safe transition.

I don’t feel like I can compete with men my kind of age and with comparable physical characteristics when I occasionally play a five-a-side kickabout with men because of the effects hormones have had.

There simply aren’t enough transgender people in society to support our own sports or spaces, according to the truth.

A small number of people who aren’t causing a problem and are simply going about their lives are receiving a lot of attention for this.

Realistically, “It is a de facto ban for transgender women playing in women’s football,” according to the statement.

For those people to return and play in the men’s game, if they ever even did play in the men’s game, will be very mentally challenging and potentially dangerous.

Really, this is essentially kicking those people out of football. “

The FA has sent transgender players a letter that is immediately outlawed, according to BBC Sport.

Women are finally returning to their sport.

Davis, 62, has long argued against the inclusion of trans women in women’s sport and won a silver medal at the 1980 Moscow Olympics.

She stated to BBC Sport, “I’m thrilled that women are finally getting their sport back. I’m hoping cricket will follow.”

The science is unchanged, they say. Male kicks 50% harder than females, they are taller, they have bigger hands and feet, and they are more dynamic, especially in the goal.

Parents who have heartbroken children who are self-harming because of a season-ending injury have spoken to me. Or autistic daughters who have received six-match suspensions because they realized the opposition has a male player.

Many people should be offered an apology, he said.

“It affects 50% of people who are actually women.” This was just about the integrity of sport, and as a biological female you are entitled to that integrity in the same way as a biological man, which applies to all young girls and all women who play football, especially at grassroots, pathways, and junior competitions.

Draper set for world top five after beating Arnaldi

For the first time in his career, British No. 1 Jack Draper cruised past Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi 6-0, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals of the Madrid Open.

In just 25 minutes, Draper, an Englishman, won the first set.

Before Draper broke for good with a fierce cross-court winner to take a 3-2 lead, world number 44 Arnaldi won his first two service matches in the second.

The 23-year-old Englishman won the Indian Wells title in March, held serve, and then won the match in one hour and 17 minutes.

The dominant Draper will overtake Novak Djokovic, who holds the Grand Slam record, to move into the top five on Monday, dropping just 10 points on his serve without a break point.

In his first ATP clay court semi-final, Draper will face Lorenzo Musetti from Italy or Gabriel Diallo from Canada.

Draper said to Sky Sports, “I feel more powerful every time I play.”

The next step in my game was developing the physical stamina to bully these guys because I used to think I would be the one on the back foot, the one defending.

“I’ve been doing everything pretty well in every way, and I’m eager to keep going.” Hopefully, things will continue to come together.

You see, I guess I just want to go after it because Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz don’t have any fear.

“I want to keep up the damage that my forehand is doing.”

Prince William has shared never-before-seen pictures from an under-the-radar visit and released a surprise message. It has emerged that the Prince of Wales paid a secret visit to the Deidre Knight Centre, an adult day care centre in Forfar, Scotland, two months ago while on a trip to nearby Aberdeen.

He met Christina Charlton, who also provides support for people who have a physical or mental handicap or social isolation, as well as other people, including carers and support workers. And after Christina celebrated her 100th birthday yesterday, his official social media accounts shared images of the visit and his meeting with her. The now-centenarian is seen laughing at the princes as William and Christina take sweet snaps of them.

With her balayage look, which features chestnut-colored locks with highlights, Kate debuted a new hair color, while William wore a similar smart casual outfit.

During the visit, Kate also revealed she has taken up beekeeping and received a chainsaw for Christmas as she immersed herself in nature to recover from cancer. Kate, who has previously told how nature became her family’s ‘sanctuary’ after her diagnosis and during chemotherapy last year, told a local beekeeper how she was “desperate for any tips” for her new hobby.

Kate mentioned how important it is for kids to “get outside as much as they can” on day two of a visit to a remote forest on the Isle of Mull. Together with William, they spent their second day in Scotland, spending the mornings in the sun-soaked Ardura Community Forest, a haven for local families, and the money they’ve been purchasing for locals.

Both men described the “fabulous” time they had on Mull as they boarded a ferry to Iona at the conclusion of their trip as they left the island. A crew member questioned the couple about their time on Mull as they approached the ferry and asked how they had enjoyed it.

William replied: “It’s been fantastic, thanks”, adding that the good weather the couple have enjoyed throughout their stay “obviously helps”.

Man who plotted to kill Holly Willoughby had ‘130 other names on his target list’

Philip Grindell, who served 30 years in the Metropolitan Police, shared his thoughts on the investigation into Gavin Plumb, who was handed a life sentence with a minimum of 16 years in jail last year for his Holly Willoughby plot

A man who plotted to rape and murder Holly Willoughby reportedly had more than 130 other names on his list of potential targets.

In a new Channel 5 documentary, Philip Grindell, who served 30 years in the Metropolitan Police, weighed in on the investigation of Gavin Plumb, a 37-year-old Essex man who plotted to kidnap, rape and murder the former This Morning star.

Last year, jurors heard how Plumb had been planning the terrifying attack since 2021, after becoming obsessed with the star over a number of years. Chelmsford Crown Court ultimately handed Plumb a life sentence with a minimum of 16 years in jail.

Plumb, who discussed his kidnap plans online, having joined forums like one titled ‘Abduct Lovers’, reportedly had thousands of pictures of Holly on his phone and had gathered information on her movements.

Philip explained how police received intelligence that Plumb posed a threat after he shared his plans online. He also pointed out an “immediate red flag” when the plotter, who has previous convictions for attempted kidnap, talked about murder.

It was suggested that the security guard, from Harlow, Essex, planned to use “serious violence”, and once police descended on his home, his unlocked phone allowed them to “make an assessment”. But what they found next was equally chilling.

Philip said: “And so when they were able to look at his mobile phone and see images that he’d saved of Holly Willoughby – I think it’s over, you know, 10,000 or something – it allows them very quickly to make an assessment.

“They’re in the right place; it’s the right person. They know they’re on the right track. During the search, they find a list in his bedside cabinet, which has over 130 names on it, of people he is also interested in or has some fixation on.

“At that stage, they won’t know how much of a fixation, which ones he’s targeting. Are any of those other people at greater risk? You don’t know who else he’s engaging with. Does he have co-conspirators? Who’s at risk here?”

In a press release issued last year, Essex Police described how Plumb spoke online about his intentions to restrain his victim and even bought chloroform, cable ties and ropes.

Thankfully, an undercover police officer from the US reported Plumb to the FBI and UK police. As Plumb continued to talk about his sick plot online, he attempted to include the undercover cop in his plans, who then reported him.

Plumb, who was arrested at his home in 2023, will serve at least 15 years and 85 days in prison, due to the time he spent on remand prior to his trial, reports the BBC.

Essex Police’s Detective Chief Inspector Greg Wood said: “He tried to claim throughout the trial that he was an obsessive fan and a fantasist – that is simply not true.

Article continues below

“He planned this attack on Ms Willoughby over a two-year period, scoping her movements, seeking to elicit help from others to carry out his wicked plan, buying chloroform and other items to incapacitate, restrain and inflict violence upon her.

“He is no fantasist – he’s a calculated, violent, sexual predator who has spent his adult life inflicting or plotting to inflict harm on women.”
