Atomic Kitten’s Liz McClarnon, 44, pregnant after decades-long fertility struggle

Atomic Kitten star Liz McClarnon has announced her pregnancy in a sweet post shared on social media. The star recorded a video of herself sitting on a bench in a gorgeous garden as she announced the exciting news to fans.

Liz, who married her husband Peter Cho in 2023, said in the caption: “I started to record a video of me just telling you but I got too emotional so I thought I’d just hide behind this little announcement instead. I just can’t believe we’re here. So many have been through exactly what I went through and worse. I want to share what I can and add my voice and ears to those who already help others understand or deal with all that comes with ivf and loss after so much hope.”

She continued: “I’ve been a part of some beautifully supportive communities. I’m so grateful. I am so grateful!”

In the video, she sat in a garden soaking up the sunshine. She wrote over the clip: “I’ve been keeping a secret from you… And I’ve mostly kept myself off social media because sometimes it was hard to smile… But after years of sometimes quite painful IVF and quite dark times.”

She then suddenly got up and turned to the side to show off her blossoming baby bump. Liz added: “I’m pregnant!” before rubbing her belly and adding: “We feel like we’ve been given the world!”

Her pals were quick to congratulate her, with Michelle Heaton writing: “So unbelievably happy for you both . I know how the road has been unkind to get here .. but look at u now .. so so happy xx love to all three of u xx.”

Suzanne Shaw posted: “Love you lots,” while one fan commented: “Sending you all the love in the world. You are going to be an amazing ‘fun in a bun’ mum! This has made my day!!! Couldn’t be happier.”

“Happy tears I promise!!! Congratulations, so so happy for you,” another delighted user added. Atomic Kitten’s Natasha Hamilton wrote: “Literally couldn’t be any happier for you both! After all you’ve been through, this little miracle is everything.”

In 2009, Liz opened up about her health struggles after feeling faint on many occasions. As the star sometimes forgot to eat, she initially put it down to her lifestyle, but it turned out to be the early warning signs of a serious gynaecological condition.

At first, it was thought she had an ectopic pregnancy before she underwent emergency surgery. During the operation, it was discovered she wasn’t pregnant.

Her symptoms, including severe cramps, were the result of her fallopian tubes being stuck together.

“Having thought even briefly that I might never be able to have my own children made me realise what agony that would be, and made me want to help people in that situation,” she said at the time.

Ex-Man Utd sporting director Ashworth to return to FA

Former Manchester United sporting director Dan Ashworth is set to be unveiled as the Football Association’s head of elite men’s and women’s development.

Ashworth left Manchester United in December having spent just five months at Old Trafford, after Ineos hired him from Newcastle United.

The 54-year-old was previously at the FA between 2012 and 2018 – in charge of England’s elite men’s and women’s teams as well as FA education and coaching.

Part of Ashworth’s new role will be to oversee the development of homegrown coaches.

Only two current permanent Premier League managers are English, and FA chief executive Mark Bullingham recently confirmed that changes are being made to address the issue.

As first reported by the Telegraph, John McDermott, the FA’s men’s technical director, is to remain in his position.

The FA has declined to comment.

In February, it was established through United’s accounts that hiring and firing Ashworth cost £4.1m, but the club have not said if there would be any reduction in that figure if he returned to the FA.

In an interview with BBC Sport earlier this year, Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe called hiring Ashworth “an error on our part”.

It was also revealed in February that Ashworth was working with Warwickshire County Cricket Club, advising on performance strategy.

Natasha In Court To Senate Suspension As Lawmaker

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on Tuesday appeared before a Federal High Court in Abuja for the hearing of a suit challenging her suspension by the Senate over allegations of misconduct, based on allegations of bias by one of the parties in the suit.

Akpoti-Uduaghan had, in her motion, joined the National Assembly, the Senate, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and Senator Neda Imasuem, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct, as defendants.

When the suit which was reassigned to Justice Binta Nyako, following the withdrawal of Justice Obiorah Egwuatu, from the matter, was called on Monday, counsel to the suspended Senator, Jibrin Okutekpa (SAN), told the court that the plaintiff has filed all the documents to be relied on in the matter, in line with the directive of the court at the last hearing.

Counsel to the Senate, Paul Daudu (SAN), and that of Senate President, Ekwo Ejembi, told the court that they have also filed their various documents to be relied on in the matter but drew the attention of the Court to a motion for disobedience to the order of the court against the plaintiff.

The two senior lawyers representing the 2nd and 3rd defendants in the suit said, the plaintiff has responded to their motion.

They both alleged that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan disobeyed the order of the Court when she, on March 27, posted a satirical letter of apology to the Senate president on her Facebook page and published it in some national dailies.

Plaintiff’s counsel, Michael Numan (SAN), confirmed the receipt of the motion and reminded the court of a motion for disobedience of the court order against all the defendants filed earlier.

He said the alleged statement credited to the plaintiff has no connection with her, adding also that the alleged contemptuous statement has no nexus with the plaintiff.

Eko Ejembi Eko, representing Akpabio, said he filed a motion on notice on May 5, alleging that the Facebook post made by the plaintiff was a direct mockery of the order of the court.

Meanwhile, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, in her counter-affidavit, accused the Senate President of attempting to curb her right to free speech, maintaining that her recent satirical letter to the Senate President was never in breach of a court order barring parties before the court from speaking with the media.

Kim Kardashian has arrived at the Palais De Justice in Paris for the trial where she will testify over the horrifying 2016 robbery that saw her being held at gunpoint by masked men dressed as police officers as millions of dollars worth of jewellery was stolen. A group of pensioners dubbed the ‘grandpa robbers’ by French media are on trial in Paris, charged with stealing the star’s jewellery during Paris Fashion Week in 2016.

Hundreds of extra police and gendarmes were mobilised around the historic Palais de Justice in the centre of the French capital, where the 44-year-old American reality TV star and socialist was due on Tuesday afternoon. The court on was told o May 12 Kim was in a state of “serious terror” when the armed robbers burst into her hotel room nine years ago.

Hotel receptionist, Abderrahmane Ouatiki, 48, who was handcuffed and forced at gunpoint to lead two armed robbers to Kim’s hotel room, told the court: “She was terrified, in a state of hysteria.”

Ouatiki told the court Kim began screaming that she was a mother when the gunmen burst into her bedroom. He said: “She was in serious terror; it was unbearable to see a woman in that type of distress.”
