UK neo-Nazis convicted of planning mosque, synagogue ‘race war’ attack

Police in the United Kingdom say three men have been convicted of planning to carry out an attack on mosques or synagogues in anticipation of a coming race war.

Brogan Stewart and Marco Pitzettu, both aged 25, and Christopher Ringrose, 34, all pleaded not guilty but were convicted of all charges by jurors at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday. Sentencing is scheduled for July 17.

“Stewart, Pitzettu, and Ringrose have today been rightfully convicted of multiple terrorism offences,” Detective Chief Superintendent James Dunkerley, head of Counter Terrorism Policing North East, said in a statement.

“They were a group that espoused vile racist views and advocated for violence, all to support their extreme right-wing mindset.”

The convictions come amid a debate in the UK over immigration rights as the left-of-centre Labour Party adopts increasingly harsh rhetoric on migration amid increasing public support for the far right. Critics said a recent speech by Prime Minister Keir Starmer in which he said immigration threatened to turn the UK into an “island of strangers” helps legitimise a view perpetuated by the far right that immigration is a destructive and dangerous force.

The convicted far-right group was part of a Telegram channel named Einsatz 14, in which they talked about executing former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and torturing imams.

“It was their belief that there must soon come a time when there would be a race war between the white and other races,” prosecutor Jonathan Sandiford told jurors.

Conspiracy theories that Muslims and immigrants are carrying out a “great replacement” of white people in Western nations have become increasingly widespread on the right in recent years.

That conspiracy often involves an anti-Semitic angle, portraying Jews as supporters of pro-immigration policies meant to weaken Western nations from the inside.

All three men were convicted of planning an act of terrorism and multiple firearms offences. They were found guilty of two counts of collecting information that could be useful to someone preparing a terrorist act, and Ringrose was additionally charged with manufacturing a component for a 3D-printed FGC9 firearm.

Prosecutors said the group was preparing for an act of terrorism when they were arrested in February 2024. Their trial began in March.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ violent attack on ex Cassie Ventura revealed in new footage

Video of Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs attacking ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura was played in court before being released in public as the rapper’s trial continues in lower Manhattan

The full video of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ attack on ex-girlfriend in a Los Angeles hotel has been made public. The entire shocking footage was released to the public today (Wednesday, May 14) after the unedited video was shown in court in the rapper’s current court case.

Day three is now underway, and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs faces a number of charges, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion and transportation to engage in prostitution. The Bad Boy Records founder, 55, was arrested in September and strongly denies all allegations made against him.

He has remained in prison since his arrest and has had a number of bail requests rejected. As Cassie Ventura takes to the stand for a second day in the trial at the Daniel Patrick Moynihan Courthouse in lower Manhattan, the unedited surveillance videos have been submitted as evidence against the musician.

The video, which did not have sound, showed security footage from the hotel attack in 2016. Prosecutors initially showed it in full before they played it as the hotel’s assistant security director at the time, Israel Florez, described how the situation unfolded.

Further footage, which was filmed off a monitor using Florez’s phone, was then shown. However, when Combs’ lawyer showed it again, she tried to find an issue with Florez’s recollection of how things happened.

In the video footage, it’s noticeable that Ventura is walking down the hall. Combs is seen at one point grabbing her head from the back and slamming her to the ground. The rapper is also seen kicking her as she lay on the floor.

Florez, who is now a Los Angeles Police Department officer, testified in court on Tuesday. He is seen at the end of the clip and is said to have been trying to diffuse the situation.

He submitted an email that showed his report of the incident. He alleges Combs tried to offer him a bribe, claiming he said: “You take care of this, I got you, let’s go to my room.’

He claims he told Combs he knows who his is and shook his hand. The email read: “‘[I] said all I ask is for respect for the guest and myself, so do me the favor and lets return you to your room.”

Florez also claims the rapper saw Ventura coming down the hall and ‘raised his voice’ towards her. “I then told him that if he didn’t respect the guest, then he would be escorted out of property,” Florez added.

He said Combs tried to bribe him but he turned it down. During her own testimony on Tuesday, Ventura was in tears at one point. She wiped her eyes partway through her questioning.

Prosecutors said Combs coerced women into drugged-up group sexual encounters he called “freak offs,” “wild king nights” or “hotel nights.

The trial continues.

Injured midfielder Dejan Kulusevski is the latest Tottenham player to be ruled out of their Europa League final against Manchester United.

The Sweden international has undergone surgery on his right knee and will miss the remainder of the season after he was forced off in the 19th minute of Spurs’ 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The 25-year-old, who has scored 10 goals and added 11 assists from 50 appearances in all competitions this season, joins fellow midfielders James Maddison (knee) and Lucas Bergvall (ankle) on Spurs’ injury list for the showpiece in Bilbao on 21 May.

“We can confirm that Dejan Kulusevski suffered an injury to his right patella in our Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace last weekend,” a Tottenham statement read.

Spurs are 17th in the Premier League table – one place above the relegation zone and one behind United in 16th.

Both sides have endured dismal league campaigns but could still qualify for next season’s Champions League with victory in Spain.

Senate Threatens Sanctions In Federal Character Employment Probe

The Senate has launched an investigative hearing into the implementation of the Federal Character Principle in public sector recruitment, with lawmakers expressing readiness to amend the existing law to address persistent imbalances.

The inquiry spearheaded by the Senate Committee on Federal Character, aims to scrutinize how federal ministries, departments, and agencies have complied with constitutional provisions mandating equitable representation of all regions in federal appointments.

Speaking during the opening session, the committee chairman issued a stern warning to Chief Executive Officers and heads of invited agencies, cautioning that failure to appear before the panel would attract punitive measures.

Lawmakers underscored that the growing discontent over lopsided recruitment patterns must be addressed through legislative reforms. They vowed to tinker with the Federal Character Act to make it more enforceable and reflective of current realities.

The probe led by the Senate Committee on Federal Character, drew representatives from various government agencies, including the Nigeria Customs Service to answer questions about their recruitment processes.

Lawmakers unanimously expressed concern over the level of public discontent regarding perceived marginalization, underscoring the need to address the lopsidedness and invoking penalties where necessary.

Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, who represented the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, echoed similar concerns, stressing that lawmakers were under pressure from their constituents.

He noted that many applicants from rural areas are disadvantaged due to lack of internet access and are often unaware when recruitment portals open.

In a pointed comment, Senate Chief Whip, Senator Tahir Monguno, emphasized the importance of the principle to national cohesion.
