Broadcaster Alan Titchmarsh is toasting to his 76th birthday today (May 2), and he’s taken a moment to reflect on what truly brings him joy in life.

While the nation knows him as a beloved television presenter and green-fingered gardening expert, at his core, Alan is all about family. He’s been married to his wife Alison since 1975, and together they’ve raised two daughters, Polly and Camilla, and dote on their four grandchildren.

He remarked in a conversation with Reach PLC that “I owe everything to good luck and a following wind” ()!

I have a very supportive family, I enjoy my job, and I enjoy being outside in my garden. I enjoy my food and drink, of course, with a healthy dose of humor, and laugh a lot. It has helped me.

Alan has become a household name through programmes like Ground Force, Gardeners’ World, and Love Your Weekend, even catching the eye of celebs such as David Beckham.

The proud Yorkshireman isn’t slowing down as he approaches another milestone. With his newest project, Gardening with Alan Titchmarsh, which airs live from his own Hampshire garden, he’s reaching out to fans.

Despite his fame and success on the small screen, it’s the simple pleasures that Alan cherishes the most, as he revealed in a recent interview with The Telegraph.

He said, “I’m actually most proud of raising a happy family with two children who are still talking to me and with whom I’m very close,” referring to awards and work accomplishments. We would always have a conversation over dinner and (prestopian) just talk.

“We weren’t immune to the odd door slam, like every parent,” I’m so appreciative of them. I admire everything they’ve accomplished now that they’re in their 40s and have their own families.

Although Alan and his partner are scheduled to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in July, their relationship might change.

He once acknowledged that he had an initial interest in a woman who eventually agreed to marry one of his friends but was turned down by her. On the Rosebud podcast, he explained how he eventually fell for Alison and said, “I pursued her.

“But we managed to get along very well and feel very comfortable. Additionally, there were a few friends who were performing together during the operatic.

“I actually asked my friend Steve’s former wife to come out first on Thursday because they have just celebrated their golden wedding.” She said, “Oh, I can’t do tonight; I need to wash my hair that night.” ‘”.

We used to go out together as a group, he continued, “Anyway.” Alison was a little there, and we kind of connected. I thought she was really quite special.

Celtic’s Jota ruled out for up to nine months

SNS

With a cruciate ligament injury, Celtic winger Jota will be sidelined for six to nine months, according to manager Brendan Rodgers, who cited the need to “shone a light” on his team’s need to strengthen their forward line in the summer transfer market.

The 26-year-old injured his knee during Saturday’s 5-0 defeat of Dundee United, returning to the Scottish champions from Rennes in January.

As Celtic won their fourth consecutive Scottish Premiership title in the first half, Jota was taken off in the first half at Tannadice, leaving the Portuguese wide man on crutches.

He has also caused some minor damage to the Cruciate. He talks about it with a lot of optimism and conviction.

Jota impressed for the first time at Celtic, initially on loan from Benfica, but after being sold to Al-Ittihad in 2023, he lost interest with both the Saudi side and Rennes.

After returning to Glasgow, he has made 16 appearances, nine of which have been starts, but Rodgers claimed they had anticipated him to start playing after a “very strong pre-season” to “improve his level of fitness.”

He said, “Sadly, that has interrupted that side of it.” After moving away from here to Saudi, he has had a difficult couple of years, but I have to say that he is a very young, optimistic person and player, and that he will emerge stronger from this.

Kyogo Furuhashi, the top scorer before him, was sold to Rennes as Jota made a change in direction in January, and his injury makes it even more crucial to add to his forward line.

There is no denying that we will definitely have to enter the market, but that was always going to happen, Rodriguez continued. You constantly strive to improve your front line, but there is no denying that this news really shines a light on that field for us.

Leinster recall stars for Champions Cup semi with Northampton

Leinster vs. Northampton in the Investec Champions Cup semi-final

Date: Saturday, May 3rd, Kick-off: 17:30 BST

Caelan Doris and Sam Prendergast were both replaced by Ireland in the Champions Cup semi-final against Northampton Saints, and Leinster made a number of other changes.

In contrast to their Premiership win over Bristol Bears, Saints only changed with the return of prop Trevor Davison, who is the only survivor of veteran prop Cian Healy’s only other survivor.

At Aviva Stadium, Ireland’s James Lowe and scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park will take the starting lineup, while the eighth-ranked Doris will lead the team. Jordie Barrett, a World Cup winner for New Zealand, is designated as the bench.

Tommy Freeman and Fin Smith, England wing, and fly-half Fin Smith will join them in Dublin for what has been billed as a head-to-head audition for selection for this summer’s British and Irish Lions tour to Australia.

Both fly-halves put on impressive performances in the quarter-final, with Ireland’s Prendergast and England’s Smith both scoring well as Saints beat Castres.

Full-back George Furbank, who has been sidelined since December, is the visitors’ notable absentee. Furbank made a try-winning return from injury in their win over Castres before suffering a setback with an arm injury that had kept him out since December.

Leinster, the four-time champions of 1999-2000, and Northampton, the champions of 1999-2000, renew their European rivalry, which saw them meet at the same time as the competition last year.

England flanker Henry Pollock adds to his remarkable breakthrough season by starting in his first European semi-final, a year after watching the game at Croke Park last year in fancy dress as a supporter.

Saints, who won the trophy in 2000, are confident of making it to the first Champions Cup final since the Irish province defeated them in the 2011 showpiece.

We are one of the few teams that can defeat Leinster, according to the statement.

Fin Smith said on BBC Radio Northampton: “We would like to think we are better prepared for this game than we were last year.

Leinster have a very different side to what they were, which doesn’t help the situation much, but I want to assure us that we won’t be overjoyed by the circumstance.

“Many of our squad has played in significant international competitions in front of large crowds with a lot of weight on them,” said coach Steve Smith. “Hopefully all that experience will help us.”

We must treat them with respect, which is obviously a real challenge, but we won’t bow down. We’ll take a look at the progress made. I’m looking forward to playing this game because it should be fantastic.

Line-ups

Leinster: O’Brien, O’Brien, Ringrose, Lowe, Prendergast, Gibson-Park, Healy, Sheehan, Furlong, Snyman, McCarthy, Deegan, Van der Flier, Doris (capt.)

Replacements: Barrett, Porter, Kelleher, Porter, Slimani, Baird, Conan, McGrath, R Byrne, and Barrett.

Ramm, Freeman, Dingwall (capt), Hutchinson, Litchfield, Smith, Mitchell, Iyogun, Langdon, Davison, Mayanavanua, Coles, Kemeny, Pollock, Augustus, Northampton Saints.

Walker, West, Millar Mills, Lockett, Munga, Scott-Young, James, Seabrook, and others.

Magnitude 7.4 earthquake strikes off coasts of Chile, Argentina

Developing a Story

After a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck off Chile and Argentina, the country’s authorities issued a tsunami warning and ordered evacuations.

Due to the risk of a tsunami, the Chilean National Service for Disaster Prevention and Response issued a “red alert” on Friday for the country’s Antarctic and southernmost Magallenas regions.

The organization claimed that hundreds of people had been forced to leave a number of communities, including Puerto Williams, in a post on its website.

The National Disaster Prevention and Response System, it continued, “is still assessing the damage to basic services and infrastructure, as well as the impact on people.”

Initial reports of no injuries or damage have been untrue.

The Drake Passage, which is located between Cape Horn and Antarctica, was only 10 kilometers (6 miles) deep when the earthquake struck, according to the US Geological Survey.

The most populous and largest region of Chile is located in Magallanes, which is also one of its least populated regions. Approximately 166, 000 people lived in 2017, according to government figures.

Gabriel Boric, president of Chile, stated that the earthquake’s aftermath had been accompanied by all available resources.

In a social media post, he wrote, “We call for the evacuation of the entire Magallanes region.” Our duty at this time is to be prepared and pay attention to the authorities.

Sirens blared in the background as people calmly evaded in social media videos.

In the upcoming hours, waves are expected to pass bases in Antarctica and cities in Chile’s extreme south, according to the hydrographic and oceanographic service (SHOA).

Local authorities in the Argentine city of Ushuaia, which is considered to be the southernmost nation in the world, temporarily suspended all water activities and navigation in the Beagle Channel.
