Foo Fighters sack drummer Josh Freese as he reveals brutal way he found out

The Foo Fighters have sensationally sacked one of their key members. Josh Freese took to social media to reveal his sacking to fans in an surprising message.

He wrote on Instagram: “The Foo Fighters called me Monday night to let me know they’ve decided ‘to go in a different direction with their drummer.” As of yet, no reason has been revealed for his dismissal.

He continued: “Regardless, I enjoyed the past two years with them, both on and off stage, and I support whatever they feel is best for the band.

“In my 40 years of drumming professionally, I’ve never been let go from a band, so while I’m not angry—just a bit shocked and disappointed.

“But as most of you know I’ve always worked freelance and bounced between bands so, I’m fine. Stay tuned for my ‘Top 10 possible reasons Josh got booted from the Foo Fighters‘ list.'”

He was supported by friends and followers in the comments section of his post. The Goldbergs actress, Wendi McLendon-Covey, wrote: “wtf?????? But hey, you’ll always be fine…. And you might actually be dodging a bullet. Love to you and your family!”

Comedian Tim Heidecker jibed: “Upside is you won’t have to hear any of those horrible songs ever again!” William Goldsmith fumed: “Say what? Why for playing everything not only perfectly but going above and beyond what most are remotely capable of? I apologise, but respectfully, this makes absolutely no sense to me.”

And a fan of the band shared their disappointment at the statement, too. They said: “Omg this is not what I expected to read today. Josh us Foo fans loved you in the band. We will miss you and I will still be following you on IG.”

His post came after rumours circulated that he was set to permanently replace the late Taylor Hawkins.

He had joined the band in 20023 having previously toured with other iconic groups such as Nine Inch Nails, Devo and Guns N’ Roses.

His addition came following the death of long-term former drummer Taylor who died aged 50 last year. His death came as the band was on tour in Bogota, Colombia.

They have since held big tribute concerts in Wembley. Among those performing at the tribute gig was Josh and Taylor’s son, Oliver Shane.

The rock band – who have won several Grammy Awards and Brit Awards over the course of the last two decades – are best known for singles like This Is a Call and Best of You.

Their self-titled debut album released in 1995 launched their success, before they later topped the charts with albums such as Wasting Light in 2011. More recently, they had huge success with Concrete and Gold in 2017.

Leaders After Obasanjo Responsible For Growing Insecurity In Nigeria, Says Atiku

A former vice-president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has said that leaders after former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, did little in checkmating insurgency and the rise in terror groups across the nation.

Atiku made this assertion on Wednesday in Abuja during a visit by stakeholders from Kogi East Senatorial District, led by former Kogi State Deputy Governor, Simon Achuba.

“So I hold our leadership responsible for all the insecurity that is going on all over the place”

According to the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) flagbearer during the 2023 presidential election, Obasanjo was decisive in quelling Boko Haram when it reared its head over two decades ago in Yobe.

“You remember when the Boko Haram started in Yobe? It was actually in 2002. We were in the office. The president sent for me. ‘VP, what do we do about this?’ Then I said, ‘Mr President, let’s call the Service Chiefs and give them a deadline. If they can’t put it down, then they should put down their uniform and go away. We will get some other people,” Atiku said in a video shared on his official Facebook handle.

Atiku added, “So, I will say there’s a lack of political will on the leaders. When they’re killing your citizens, how can you even eat? They’re killing your citizens and you don’t give a damn; that is the greatest irresponsibility by any political leader, anywhere.

Liam Payne’s partner Kate Cassidy has shared a previously unseen photo of them. It comes after she looked back at their “last holiday together” before his death in another recent post, whilst further paying tribute.

Kate, 26, has given glimpses into her relationship with Liam in the months since he died, aged 31, whilst in Argentina in October last year. The late singer fell from the third floor of his hotel room and suffered injuries incompatible with life. A UK inquest ruled that his death was “polytrauma,” meaning multiple traumatic injuries.

Since his death, Kate has shared insights into their relationship, having first met him in 2022, and has also spoken about her grief. Paying tribute to the late One Direction singer, Kate has shared various photos of him on social media in the past. Earlier this evening, she posted another on her Instagram Story, a photo of the couple which hadn’t been shared publicly.

The photo showed the couple holding hands on a beach, though neither of their faces was visible. Liam was seen sporting a pair of white shorts as he held her hand, with some of his arm tattoos on display in the photo.

Kate didn’t tell fans where the photo had been taken. Just a few days ago, she reflected on their “last holiday together,” sharing photos of herself from a trip to Greece. She told fans that the snaps were some of the last photos Liam took of her.

Most of the photos showed Kate in a white dress posing outside their accommodation at a resort on the trip. One instead showed her getting ready, with Kate seen curling her hair in a bathroom as the photo was taken.

Alongside the photos, Kate told her followers on Monday: “These are some of the last photos Liam took of me. We were in Greece, on our last holiday together. I asked Liam to take a few photos of me because I really loved my dress.”

She continued in the post: “As usual, with no hesitation, Liam did everything he could to get me the perfect photo.” She went on to say in the caption: “We walked around the entire resort trying to find the perfect background.”

She then told fans on the platform: “That’s just who he was. Always thinking of me in the most thoughtful ways. While he was taking them, he kept smiling and saying how beautiful I looked and how I was going love every picture.”

Kate said: “When I looked back at the photos, all I saw were flaws. I hated how I looked. My pose, my hair, my face – everything. I picked myself apart and told him I’d try editing them, maybe fix them enough to find one I liked.”

The content creator concluded: “He just looked at me and said, ‘I wish you saw how beautiful you are through my eyes.’ And I didn’t listen. I let my insecurities silence the way he saw me that night. So today, I’m posting them. For you, Liam. Just as they are. Unfiltered, unedited. Just me. The way you saw me. I miss you. I love you. Always.”

Caudery wins pole vault at Diamond League in Doha

Britain’s Molly Caudery began her 2025 outdoor season with victory in the pole vault at the Diamond League meeting in Doha.

The 25-year-old cleared 4.75m in warm and windy conditions at the Suheim bin Hamad Stadium in Qatar to finish top of the standings.

Neither Roberta Bruni of Italy nor USA’s Katie Moon could clear the height as they finished second and third with vaults of 4.63m.

“I absolutely have a lot of fire in me and that’s a good thing ahead of the new season,” said Caudery.

She won the World Indoor title last year to become Britain’s first world champion in the discipline.

In the 1500m, Scotland’s Jemma Reekie finished a credible third with a time of four minutes 7.33 seconds as Nelly Chepchirchir strode clear in 4:05.00, ahead of Kenyan team-mate Susan Ejore.

Elsewhere, Amy Hunt finished third in the 100m in a time of 11.03 as she took .09 seconds off her personal best.

The race was won by Tia Clayton, who outshone two-time Olympic 100m champion and Jamaican compatriot Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

The 38-year-old Fraser-Pryce was competing on the Diamond League circuit for the first time in three years, but could only finish fourth as Clayton, 20, won easily in a world-leading time of 10.92.

Clayton’s twin sister Tina was second in 11.02, while Fraser-Pryce, competing in possibly her final season, clocked a season’s best 11.05 for fourth.

Reigning men’s Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo produced a lacklustre performance for success in his signature event as he was almost caught on the line by Courtney Lindsey.

Botswana’s Tebogo ran a smooth bend but seemed to lack fluency in the home straight and glanced to his right at Lindsey as he crossed the line in a modest 20.10, one hundredth of a second ahead of the American.

In the men’s 800m, Tshepiso Masalela chased down Wycliffe Kinyamal to clock 1:43.11, the fastest time in the world this year.
