According to analysts, ISIL (ISIS) is to blame for an attack on the Syrian army, which is the armed group’s first direct assault on government forces since Bashar al-Assad’s assassination.
ISIL claimed in a statement made late on Thursday that its fighters had planted an explosive device in southern Syria that struck a “vehicle of the apostate regime.”
ISIL, which views the new government in Damascus as illegitimate but has so far focused its activities against Kurdish forces in the north, appears to be at the forefront of the bombing.
Seven Syrian soldiers were reportedly killed or injured in the explosion on May 22 in Sweida province’s al-Safa desert region.
In a nearby area, ISIL claimed that a second bombing attack targeted Free Syrian Army fighters who were supported by the US. One fighter was killed, and three were hurt, according to ISIL.
The Free Syrian Army has not yet responded, and the Syrian government has not made any official comments.
After al-Assad was removed from power in December, members of the new Syrian government had ties to al-Qaeda, a rival of ISIL, but they abandoned it almost ten years ago.
However, ISIL has only recently claimed responsibility for attacks on the northeast’s Syrian Democratic Forces.
The first ISIL-claimed operation targeting the new Syrian military was the convoy explosion, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights in the United Kingdom.
In Syria, ISIL was territorially defeated in 2019 but still maintains sleeper cells, particularly in the country’s central and eastern deserts.
Wynne Evans of Strictly Come Dancing shared a cryptic post after declaring he would no longer be presenting on his BBC radio show in a statement shared with fans.
Strictly Come Dancing star Wynne Evans shared a cryptic post about ‘pain’ and ‘suffering’ hours before confirming he was axed from the BBC. On Friday, the Go Compare star and radio and TV personality announced he will not be returning to his radio show, telling fans he was ‘gutted’ by the news.
When he appeared on Strictly, Wynne hit headlines several times. He was shown grabbing his professional partner Katya’s waist before she pushed his hand away, but he later insisted it was a joke and was supported by Katya. He then came under fire for using the term ‘spit roast’ to Janette Manrara during a Strictly tour photocall, but he later insisted it was directed at Jamie Borthwick and had nothing to do with Janette.

The star was kicked out of the Strictly Live tour as a result of the comment. However, a video of him giving his co-star Jamie a sex toy quickly emerged, which both received harsh criticism for. Wynne claimed in a recent statement that his BBC contract had expired and that he would no longer be working for the BBC for his radio show.
However, hours before the announcement, he shared a spiritual quote on his Instagram Stories featuring isolating clips of trains on empty platforms, parks and outer space.
The AI voice narrated the video, saying, “First you suffer, then you awaken, and then you begin to ascend.” Isn’t that strange, then? That discomfort is a summons rather than a punishment.

“A knock on the inner door that says wake up, not to the world but to yourself. You see, suffering shakes the foundation of who you think you are so that you may discover who you truly are and when that veil lifts, something extraordinary happens.
You begin identifying with the witness instead of the wound. This signifies awakening. Ascension is not about falling into the sky; it is about fully immersing yourself in the present, unburdened by the past.
Undone by the ego’s desire for control, undisturbed by illusion. You realize that pain didn’t make you break, it built the staircase, and you start living as the soul, not the story, and you realize that now you are rising.
In Wynne’s statement a few hours later, he told fans: “My beloved Wynners, From the very depths of my heart — thank you. These past few months, your love has been the light in my darkest days. Every message, every word of encouragement, every moment you stood by me has carried me through more than you could ever know.
“It breaks my heart to say the BBC has decided not to renew my contract so I won’t be returning to my radio show. I’m gutted. That show wasn’t just work — it was home. It was us. We laughed, we cried, we sang like nobody was listening. And somehow, through the airwaves, we became a family.”
He continued: “But here’s what I believe with everything I’ve got: what we built cannot end here. So — deep breath — here goes… We’re getting the band back together. The Wynne Evans Show is coming back, live every day from 9am–12pm on a new app, on Alexa and Google (we don’t have to say ‘smart speaker’ anymore!) and at www.wynneevansshow.co.uk.
Our next adventure is this, I say. And I rely on you more than ever. Because we have each other again, we will have great music, my day-long query, the mystery voice, your soundtrack stories, and so much more.

Hailey Bieber had an iconic reaction after striking a deal to sell her beauty and skincare brand Rhode to e.l.f. Beauty in a transaction that could reach a staggering £740 million ($1billion). Hours after news of the massive deal broke, Hailey posted a TikTok to let people know just how she was celebrating.
As she dances to rapper JT’s song Ran Out while captioning the now-viral video clip “well.. good morning”!, Hailey can be seen wearing a strapless, black dress with her hair down and a big smile.
The beauty mogul was out having dinner at Alba in West Hollywood to celebrate her win. Her pop star husband, Justin Bieber, was conspicuously absent from the celebrations, as Hailey seemed to have stepped out sans husband (but with her girls) to celebrate the major milestone. Justin did however, post the news of the deal to Instagram, albeit without a caption.

The billion dollar move, announced on Wednesday, May 28, is being hailed by Vogue Business as one of the most significant beauty industry acquisitions of late.
Announcing the deal, Hailey took to social media and wrote: “When I launched rhode in 2022, I always had big dreams for the company, and the most important thing to me is to keep bringing rhode to more spaces, places, and faces globally. So today I am so incredibly excited and proud to announce that we are partnering with e.l.f. Beauty as we step into this next chapter in the world of rhode.
I came across a similar-minded disruptor who had the same aspirations to be a different kind of business and who values big ideas and innovation, which will allow us to keep the brand growing. I’m more motivated, upbeat, and prepared than ever to take on a bigger role as the CEO, head of innovation at rhode, and strategic advisor to e. f. Beauty.

On Sunday, Mexico will hold its first nationwide judicial elections, becoming the first nation to have judges chosen solely by public vote. What benefits and drawbacks exist? John Holman of Al Jazeera explains.
Lando Norris led Red Bull’s Max Verstappen during the first practice for the Spanish Grand Prix.
As teams accept new front wings forced upon them by a rule change for this race, Norris, who won in Monaco five days ago, was 0. 367 seconds quicker than Verstappen.
Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, Ferrari’s third and fourth drivers, came in third and fourth.
In this first session, Norris was 0.576 seconds quicker than the Australian, who leads teammate Oscar Piastri by three points.
Liam Lawson of Racing Bulls was in sixth place, ahead of Pierre Gasly of Alpine, Yuki Tsunoda, and Isack Hadjar of Racing Bulls, who was a member of the Haas of Briton Oliver Bearman.

Early on, the Spaniard was one of the pacesetters, but as the session progressed, it became apparent that the veteran had a problem with the engine’s performance, based on radio transmissions between the Spaniard and his engineer.
Alonso, who had an engine failure at home last Sunday, retired in Monaco and finished his session five minutes early.
The FIA’s new front-wing flexibility test, which aims to reduce how many flexing wings can teams use to control aerodynamic performance, has been the main focus of the weekend thus far.
Ferrari and Red Bull hope that the stricter restrictions will help boost their chances of succeeding in the FIA’s race competition. According to McLaren, it will have essentially no impact on relative competitiveness.
Front-wing flexibility has been a key feature of modern teams’ efforts to increase speed on straights and maintain downforce in corners. The wing’s “backs off” on the straight to lessen drag before returning to its highest-density position for corners for maximum downforce-producing.
However, the phenomenon has actually helped in the current car generation by adjusting for both high- and low-speed cornering performance.
Low-speed understeer, a lack of front grip, and high-speed oversteer, a lack of front grip, have been a problem for the new generation cars introduced with new rules in 2022, which focus on underbody downforce produced by so-called Venturi tunnels.
Teams can lessen this apprehension in quick corners by reducing the front wings’ effectiveness at higher speeds without making the cars too difficult to drive at low speeds.
Although it is unknown whether the more stringent tests will have any impact, McLaren and Mercedes are widely regarded as pioneers of this particular approach.
