Eamonn Holmes ‘in pain all the time’ as pals question GB News stint after fall

Eamonn Holmes recently fell from his chair live on the air, leaving GB News viewers speechless. However, broadcaster’s friends claim that he frequently experiences pain as a result of his health issues.

Due to his ongoing health issues, Eamonn Holmes is said to be “always in pain.” After enduring a number of setbacks in recent years, the broadcaster has previously been honest about his health. The 65-year-old’s friends have now questioned why he’s been on TV for so long.

When Eamonn abruptly fell from his chair on GB News on Wednesday, viewers were gobsmacked, completely dejected by the chaos. His TV work is reportedly the subject of controversy among network bosses.

The Northern Irish broadcaster has had hip replacements and additional surgeries in recent years as a result of three slipped discs. His health improved in 2022, but he declared that he could no longer “walk or look after himself” just one year later. Seanon has chronic back pain and frequently uses a walking aid.

According to a source, “He’s in pain all the time.” They continued, “It’s so very sad to watch. He is up at dawn every day and watches three hours of live television, which he is, of course, very good at. He occasionally has no feeling in his back.

The source continued, “The viewers love him, but you do have to wonder how long this will continue.” Eamonn disappeared from his show last week, leaving Ellie Costello to serve as the program’s anchor. During this time, he caused a stir among GB News viewers.

However, the fall on Wednesday caused a commotion on the program because Eamonn fell from his chair and Charlie Rowley was unable to contain himself.

Charlie remarked, “Oh my gosh! ” as a sudden crash was audible. Before the program ended with an advert break, Eamonn was heard saying, “I’m fine, fine, fine, fine, carry on, carry on.”

Eamonn said, “I’m alive,” as the program returned after a break before yelling at the “wonky” wheels on his studio chair. He told Ellie, “We don’t really like the chairs we have here, because they have very wonky wheels on them.” He continued to explain that he recently experienced pain after falling at home.

I fell two weeks ago in my bathroom, which hospitalized me, and hit me in the back, so it was a shock for me, Eamonn said. And it hit me once more, right in the back. Really, really, really sore. He said, “An unexpected journey this morning… bit of a fall on the bathroom floor,” in a statement released at the time on social media. Oh my goodness, it hurts. “Thank you Ambulance crew,” along with four emojis that clatter.

He continued, “Life’s not easy these days, but I wanted to be spending the holiday weekend.” Thank you to everyone who takes care of me.

The Mirror has approached Eamonn’s spokesperson for comment.

Can you wear red to a wedding? Guest dressing style rules to follow this summer

Every wedding season, these inquiries arise: CAN you attend a wedding in red? How about black? The solutions are available to us.

From wearing red to black tie rules, here are the wedding guest dressing rules(Image: Getty)

Many of us are making wedding outfit plans well in advance to ensure we have the best choice as we approach the end of the wedding season. There is one thing we all take note of when we’re the bride’s mother, a close friend of the groom, or a plus one who has nothing to do on the day other than sit back and enjoy the free bar: not upsetting or upsetting the bride.

What other guidelines do you need to follow besides the one that we all know to avoid wearing a white dress? We have the answers to almost all of the style queries you’re almost certainly Googling, from dressing in red to wearing black to exposed to a lot of leg. So let’s dive in…

Can I attend a wedding in red?

The short answer is “yes,” with some exceptions. If you’ve been told that wearing red as a guest is disrespectful, it’s probably because a stale myth that still circulates holds that it indicates that you’ve had an affair with the groom. Although it’s a silly folk tale, some of us still worry about wearing the color because it has been widely shared enough.

At Indian weddings, where the bride herself is customarily required to wear red, there is an exception. If you have your heart set on a red dress, it’s always best to check in with the bride, if possible. This also applies to other Southeast Asian cultures. Zoe, our head of fashion, approved a red guest dress for an Indian wedding last summer. The bride wore a stunning fuchsia-pink saree as her bridal gown. However, don’t assume this to be the case on your own.

The invitation does not specify a color scheme for the wearer. Weddings these days have a color “theme,” so some invitations may ask you to wear lighter tones, such as black or even white. Make sure you don’t annoy people in pictures by sticking out like a sore thumb.

Can I attend a wedding in black?

Again, the simple answer is yes, and it’s a very chic choice, especially if the wedding has a black tie dress code. The confusion dates back to the Victorian era, when wives would observe a full year of mourning in black after a husband’s passing. Additionally, families frequently opt to wear black as a sign of respect for up to six months.

However, black has become a go-to for many when it comes to occasionwear dressing up, largely thanks to the likes of Audrey Hepburn and Chanel. If the dress code is black tie, wearing black is also a very safe option (though women are not required, despite the name).

Can I expose some skin?

The answer to your question is probably yes if you’re wondering if a dress is too short or cleavage-spying. Trust your gut if you think it might be pushing the boundaries of appropriate clothing. Although there are no “standard” wedding guidelines for how long dresses should be on the floor or how long should the necklines should slither, take into account what you would like to see at your own wedding. Plus, you want to feel at ease with yourself; no one wants to drag their dress down or up all night.

However, you only need to pay attention to the length of your dress at a back-tie wedding. Black tie refers to a long dress or a sophisticated long jumpsuit for women.

What are the hottest wedding guest dress trends for the summer of 2025?

Satin slip dresses

Satin dresses have long been a popular wedding attire, but this season it’s getting some more sophisticated details, like paneling and lace. Olive green or chocolate shades are guaranteed to look more expensive if you want to be on trend with your color scheme.

Buttery dresses

It costs $35.99 to purchase the Zara Satin Halter Dress.

The versatile and creamy colour works on all skin tones and is ideal for an outdoor or an abroad wedding where sunsets will add an extra golden glimmer to the gown.

Ruffles

It costs $47.99 to purchase the New Look Black Zebra Print Ruffle-Trimmed Maxi Dress.

Ruffles are popular because they prevent people from wanting dresses that cling to their bodies or make lumps and bumps appear. The best part is that this designer-born silhouette has plenty of good low-cost options available on the high street.

silhouettes of bandeau

The hottest style to wear for special occasions in 2025 is retro-looking bandeau dresses. They work great for skimming over the hips and accentuating the waist with a slight fit and flare shape. The ones that feature contemporary floral and gingham prints (also popular summer pattern) receive the most points.

‘I play 20 minutes’ – Garnacho puts Man Utd future in doubt

Alejandro Garnacho, a winger for Manchester United, questioned Ruben Amorim’s decision to play him for “20 minutes” in the Europa League final defeat by Tottenham, casting doubt on his future at the club.

Spurs’ 17-year trophy drought was ended by Brennan Johnson’s first-half goal, which ensured United would be without European football for the next season.

Mason Mount was replaced in Bilbao by Garnacho, 20, who had 19 minutes left in normal time before being benched.

The Argentina winger, who was linked with Chelsea and Napoli in January, criticized Amorim’s decision to give him a limited role in the final.

Garnacho said, “Up until the final, I played every round supporting the team, and today I play 20 minutes,” “I don’t know.”

The outcome will affect not just [my decision], but the club’s situation for the entire season. I’m going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens afterward.

Six hours before kick-off, Garnacho discovered that he was starting on the bench and that he was celebrating in the 2024 FA Cup final and 2024 Community Shield. He posted a photo of himself on social media.

His brother, Roberto Garnacho, claimed the winger had been “thrown under the bus” on his Instagram account.

Roberto Garnacho remarked, “Working as no-one else, helping every round, coming from two goals in the final two finals, just to be on the pitch for 19 minutes and getting thrown under the bus.”

Following Amorim’s comments following the match, the Portuguese head coach referred to Garnacho’s miss in the semi-final second leg against Athletic Bilbao.

Amorim questioned whether he ought to have introduced Garnacho earlier, and he responded, “How many times have it happened and it was the opposite?” Some players, like Mason Mount, play Bilbao and alter the game.

It’s now simple to say, then. Who lacked a significant opportunity in the first half against Bilbao? [Garnacho] Yes. Naturally, it’s now simple for us to discuss a lot of points.

After “liking” Dutchman’s social media posts following his Premier League defeat by Bournemouth, Garnacho apologized to then United manager Erik ten Hag last year.

The winger and team-mate Marcus Rashford were both dropped for Amorim’s visit to Manchester City in December due to “training performances, game performances, and team-building engagement.”

Garnacho was one of the United players to leave the club with doubts over his future, with Bruno Fernandes, the team’s captain, suggesting that he might “cash in” on him.

The 30-year-old has been linked with joining Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

Portugal’s Fernandes remarked, “I have always been honest.

It’s what it is, if the club decides it’s time to end because they want to do some cashing in or whatever. Sometimes, this is football.

“I’ve always said I’ll stay until the club tells me it’s time to leave.” More needs to be done, in order to restore the club’s former glory.

Summer transfer looms

Garnacho initially appeared to be leaving Manchester United in January, so speculation about the youngster will only grow in the wake of last night’s events in Bilbao.

His axing from United’s starting lineup quickly becomes apparent in his own social media post before the game.

Tensions will only increase if his brother posts something more.

Amorim is evaluated on performance, just like any other manager. We can never predict what would have happened if a different team had started when things don’t go well because selections are made when they don’t go well. It is assumed that the performance would be better, but that is all that is, an assumption.

This season, Garnacho has missed a lot of “big” chances. Garnacho is at least partially to blame when Amorim complains that his team did not score. He is not entirely on his own.

According to my personal opinion, given how many praises he received last season and how frequently he played, his abilities were misassed and his career trajectory was set.

There is no denying that Garnacho has talent. He must work hard on his game to achieve the desired improvements, but he is not finished. I’m not sure whether the social media component is eliciting the appropriate signals.

I can see a summer transfer coming up in the Premier League, given United’s financial situation, Garnacho’s homegrown status, and how that works in the league’s profit and sustainability rules.

Are we capable enough?

After losing in Bilbao, defender Luke Shaw said his team-mates must now beg questions about whether they are capable of playing for the club.

United will not play football in Europe again after the 2014-15 season, for the first time since that defeat.

For a club like Manchester United, the season is “not really good enough,” said England defender Shaw, 29. “It’s hard to put into words, but I think it’s not really good enough for a team like that.”

“I think absolutely me, and I believe we must all be asking ourselves this evening. Are we capable of bringing this together? Because of this club, this season, it’s unacceptable.

‘Are we good enough?’ – Shaw questions Man Utd squad

After Tottenham lost in the Europa League final, Manchester United’s Luke Shaw says the squad needs to reevaluate whether they are capable enough to play there.

Spurs’ 17-year trophy drought was ended by Brennan Johnson’s first-half goal, which ensured United would be without European football for the next season.

With just one game left, United are already guaranteed to finish in the bottom league standings ever.

United’s ability to sign players this summer will depend on whether they win the Europa League, but Shaw, 29, claims there are still questions over the squad at Old Trafford.

The English defender Shaw, however, said, “I think the season is not really good enough for a club like Manchester United.

“I think absolutely me, and I believe we must all be asking ourselves this evening. Are we capable of bringing this together? Because of this club, this season, it’s unacceptable.

Bruno Fernandes’ defeat in Bilbao results in his second Europa League final since 2021 when he lost to Villarreal.

The 30-year-old Portugal international has been linked with a move to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, and he says he will leave United this summer if they “cash in.”

“I have always been truthful,” Fernandes said.

It’s what it is, if the club decides it’s time to end because they want to do some cashing in or whatever. Sometimes, this is football.

“I’ve always said I’ll stay until the club tells me it’s time to leave.” More needs to be done, in order to restore the club’s former glory.

Barry Fantoni dead: BBC star dies at home as tributes pour in

Following a heart attack, Barry Fantoni, who wrote the scripts for That Was the Week That Was and hosted A Whole Scene Going On for the BBC, passed away at the age of 85. He passed away on May 20 at his Turin, Italy, home. He also made a name for himself as a cartoonist in Private Eye magazine, which confirmed the news.

Ian Hislop, the editor of Private Eye and Have I Got News For You, paid tribute. “Barry was a brilliant multitalented writer, artist, and musician. From the beginning of the 1960s, he was a significant member of Private Eye’s comic writing staff, and I greatly enjoyed working with him when I later joined the magazine.

He was the voice of the legendary poet and obituarist E J Thribb for a long time and he was the author of formats, characters, and jokes that are still popular. So, Barry, farewell.

Fantoni, a man of many talents, established himself in British pop culture in the 1960s. He received a Wedgewood Scholarship to attend the Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts when he was 14 years old.

Early in his creative career, he became a key figure in the 1960s’ vibrant pop art scene in the UK.

Fantoni joined the writing team for David Frost’s renowned satirical program That Was The Week That Was, which he hosted. His sharp wit and writing abilities earned him a spot on the show.

He hosted the BBC’s youth-focused music and fashion program A Whole Scene Going in 1966, which he himself took to the stage.

The Spencer Davis Group and Pete Townshend were just two of the performers in the show, which became a cultural focal point for Britain’s under-21s.

Fantoni worked for The Times, a caricaturist for Radio Times, and later, a record reviewer for Punch magazine in the 1970s, in addition to his contributions to Private Eye, which he was a staple from 1963.

Tributes have poured in for Barry

Sir Bruce Forsyth, DJ Tony Blackburn, and comedian Sir Ken Dodd are just a few of Britain’s most well-known figures whose likeness and spirit are captured in his caricatures.

After nearly five decades, Fantoni officially retired from Private Eye in 2010. He told The Independent, “It was just time to leave,” when he explained his decision to step back. I had already done it. The place is no longer even worth puncturing.

Pacers beat Knicks in overtime after late comeback

Images courtesy of Getty

The Indiana Pacers won the first game of their NBA Eastern Conference championship series 138-13 after overturning a 17-point deficit in the fourth quarter.

The Knicks led 69-62 at halftime thanks to Jalen Brunson scoring 41 points.

With two minutes and 51 seconds left, the hosts continued to win.

Before Tyrese Haliburton’s two-point shot on the buzzer made it impossible for Indiana to break the deadlock with six straight three-pointers, five of which were made by Aaron Nesmith.

In overtime, the Pacers won a famous game at Madison Square Garden, and there was still more energy.

We’ve shown it all year, and we’re so proud of the resilience of this group. We’ve had to win in so many different, random, and unique ways, but we just kept fighting, going, and it’s fun, Haliburton said on TNT.

“We had the impression that the opposing team had control of the game.”

It won’t be finished until it’s over, until it’s at zero. That is a truly wonderful victory. However, I think there is still a lot to improve.

When Haliburton attempted a three-pointer in regulation time, Haliburton believed he had won the game, even imitating Hall of Famer Reggie Miller’s infamous “choke” celebration, but replays revealed his toe was on the line and the result only counted for two.

The Pacers have won four straight post-season games without falling 15 points or more behind.

Tom Thibodeau, the head coach of the Knicks, said, “It’s obvious there’s a disappointment when you fall short.”

All you look at is “We got to be ready for game two,” the statement read. We must now overcome the disappointment with more resolve.

On Saturday, at 1:00 a.m. BST, New York will host the second game of the best-of-seven series.
