Man Utd Booed Off After Friendly Loss In Malaysia

In front of 72, 550 people, Manchester United lost 1-0 to a Southeast Asian XI in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, and they were booed off.

In the gruesome heat, Ruben Amorim’s team appeared drained and without ideas, finishing 15th in the Premier League for their worst season since 1974.

Before the game was over, some Bukit Jalil National Stadium fans left, and there were boos at the end.

United have struggled for goals all year, which is further evidence of why they are reportedly willing to pay £65 million ($85 million) for Brazilian international attacker Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

Amorim, who shook his head at times during the game and was obviously frustrated, declined to confirm the Cunha deal.

The Portuguese coach had no issues with fans booing his team off and was happy to leave the Malaysian capital and head to Hong Kong.

He said, “We were slow and we still don’t have it in us to win every exercise, game.”

The fans’ boos are something we need, they say.

No matter what the circumstances are, these people still believe in Manchester United.

We have a responsibility to make the team better both now and the following year.

“We need to have that belief, that hunger to win every game, that is important,” I said.

United started with a number of regulars in their first of two Asia-based post-season games, including Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund, Casemiro, Diogo Dalot, Manuel Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo, and Harry Maguire.

The ASEAN All Stars appeared more dangerous in the first half at 32 degrees Celsius (90 Fahrenheit) at kickoff.

In the 16th minute, they fired just wide, and Onana was then called back to action with a subdued save that he was criticized by the pro-United crowd.

United faced the first real threat with a 25-yard effort that was turned back for a corner before the young midfielder saw his shot cleared off the line in the 38th minute.

In the second half, Captain Bruno Fernandes scored a subpar restart with a half-volley.

Despite appearing to be heading for United, Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho made a lively comeo from the bench.

In the 71st minute, Burmese attacker Maung Maung Lwin found himself clean through on goal and fired past Tom Heaton into the top corner, which United were better in the second half, but the Southeast Asian side stunned the visitors.

Heaton’s arrival at United’s rescue soon after to stop further embarrassing Heaton.

On Friday, United will face the Hong Kong team.

Raducanu outclassed by Swiatek at French Open

In their French Open second-round encounter, Emma Raducanu’s miserable performance against Iga Swiatek persisted.

The British number two lost all five of her matches to the five-time Grand Slam champion after falling to 6-1, 6-2 on the clay in Paris.

The conflict between the top-ranked players on the WTA Tour and the 41st-ranked Raducanu was once more rehashed.

As fifth seed Swiatek rattled off five games in a row, 22-year-old Raducanu quickly lost her way after being unable to convert a break point in the opening game.

As the 23-year-old from Poland secured the opening set in 35 minutes, Raducanu’s second serve was put under serious pressure and her groundstrokes grew more ragged.

Swiatek, who has won four of the previous five Roland Garros titles, is known as the “Queen of Clay” for her impressive performance in this match, which gave her 2-1 lead in the second set.

There are some questions about her level after a subpar clay-court swing, though, and they came up again when Raducanu threatened to retaliate right away.

In a drawn-out fourth game, Swiatek was able to save three break points, one of which is crucial between players of her status and Raducanu, by maintaining her intensity under pressure.

Raducanu struggles against the best in progress.

Over the past three months, Raducanu has made positive progress from the outside.

After suffering from injuries for a while, the 2021 US Open champion has since climbed back into the top 50 and made progress by reaching the Miami Open quarter-finals and the Italian Open last 16.

Since appointing Mark Petchey as her coach in an “informal” arrangement in March, that has been a benefit of playing with more freedom.

However, she was unable to accomplish that against Swiatek.

Swiatek’s depth of return and ability to change angles contributed to a more rigid approach, but Raducanu’s ball-striking was also subpar.

It was difficult to keep up the rallies with Swiatek, which demonstrated how difficult it is for Raducanu to find returning ball after ball in the face of intense competition from the leading stars.

Coco Gauff, the second-ranked American, was the subject of a similar incident earlier this month on the clay in Rome.

Even though Raducanu has undoubtedly made progress with her resilience, it is clear that she still has a way to go despite only winning three of her 14 professional matches against top-10 players.

One of the most challenging challenges in the game is to defeat Swiatek on the red dirt because clay is not her natural surface.

Chelsea, Real Betis Fans Clash Before Conference League Final

After a confrontation between Chelsea and Real Betis fans before Wednesday’s UEFA Conference League final in Poland, Riot police deployed a water cannon and blocked parts of central Wroclaw.

We made four arrests, according to Wojciech Jablonski, a spokesman for the Wroclaw police.

He claimed that “a water cannon” was used to end fanfights between opposing fan groups.

According to Jablonski, “several hundred police officers came in there (…) to restore public order and identify those who broke the law.”

Chelsea fans crowded inside the hurriedly put up security cordon.

An AFP reporter at the scene reported that “police in riot gear surrounded a bar occupied by Chelsea supporters.”

As riot police took up positions, Chelsea fans jeered as they arrived.

All “unauthorised” people were urged to leave the area by the police.

Donald Tusk, the prime minister of Poland, vowed “tolerance for violence on our streets.”

He thanked the police for their “steady action” against Chelsea and Betis t-shirts in Wroclaw. We advise that the police will be even more violent today. posted on X in the thread.

At the fanfest area, the city center was crowded with English and Spanish club fans who photographed the trophy before the kickoff at 1900 GMT.

The old town’s atmosphere was generally friendly, the bars were full of supporters, and there were occasionally police sirens.

The Blues can now complete the set if they defeat Betis in the final of Poland’s most recent competition, the Champions League, Europa League, Super Cup, and the no-winners’ cup. They have already won the Champions League twice.

Amy Childs’ wedding planning chaos from last-minute change to ‘overwhelming pressure’

The reality star is said to be “gutted” over the last-minute changes that prevent cameras from following their wedding vows, so Amy Childs and Billy Delbosq have “called off” their wedding.

Amy Childs has dramatically called off her wedding to fiancé Billy Delbosq after a number of setbacks left her feeling “overwhelmed” and under intense pressure, according to reports.

The TOWIE star, 34, had been planning a lavish big day for later this year – with cameras set to follow the build-up for a new show – but those plans have now reportedly been scrapped. “Amy’s gutted,” a source told Closer.

“Everything was heading towards a September wedding, but real life got in the way – it’s all been too much.” Amy and Billy, 42, who share two-year-old twins Amelia and Billy, got engaged in April 2023 in a sweet family moment that saw Billy dress their newborns in matching suits, reading “Mummy, will you marry my Daddy?”

The couple, who got married while lockdown, had even begun shopping for clothes and talking about places to go. However, the wedding has recently been thrown into chaos and is now officially “canceled.”

Amy had a “wedding body” in February, and she claimed to be looking into a September or October date. But by April, she had already acknowledged that the pressure was weighing on: “I still don’t know if it will be this year… ” I’m overwhelmed, I feel”!

She said, “We talk about it nonstop for one week, and then we don’t even mention it once more.” The couple was shocked when Amy and Billy’s £1.7 million home in Essex was targeted in an attempted break-in earlier this month, which made things worse.

Days later, Amy’s mum, Julie, suffered a heart attack and needed emergency surgery – something Amy said “tipped our world upside down.” In April she took to Instagram and said her mother, 59, collapsed from the health scare leaving her terrified.

At the time, Amy made the revelation that Julie was “doing okay” but in need of rest and was awaiting a stent placement in the hospital. Amy has decided it’s just not the right time, the source continued. “With everything that’s gone on, including the break-in, her mother almost passing away, she’s decided it’s not the right time.”

She and Billy are still together, but their wedding was postponed. Everything has just grown too sluggish.” Amy confessed to questioning her relationship in 2023 after revealing that Billy still wanted to marry her.

“Since he proposed, he hasn’t mentioned it once,” she told The Sun. “I actually asked him the other day if he still wanted to marry me!”

She later admitted that she had no intention of getting married. I’m not sure I could even make plans at this time. Nothing can be proved by the fact that we don’t need to marry.

Amy also has two daughters, Ritchie and Polly, eight, from her ex, who is also named, and Ritchie, five, from her ex-boyfriend.

Fight for the Pacific – Episode 2: Fallout Zone

A compelling examination of the effects of militarisation of the Pacific islands in the midst of a global power conflict.

In Fallout Zone, we examine the South Pacific’s growing geopolitical tensions and highlight its strategic significance as they escalate.

We travel to Hawaii, where a significant US military presence has had a significant impact on both the local communities and the region’s indigenous communities. Many of the state’s native people struggle to make a living because of the US presence. Hawaiian activist Tia Marie Masaniai describes the reasons the majority of people reject the idea that Hawaii belongs to the US.

US nuclear testing has always been closely watched for its legacy. Mina Titus from the Marshall Islands, who has the long-lasting effects of US actions in her country, introduces us to the Pacific island nation. Despite the lack of tangible evidence of the nuclear testing we have today, the long-lasting effects still loom.

We come to a conclusion in Kaitoke Aotearoa, New Zealand’s Maori name for indigenous peoples, where they are implementing strategies for food sovereignty. They want to reduce imports, adopt a more sustainable and healthy lifestyle, and reclaim previously colonized land by producing and growing their food.

Our Showbiz team has been following the inquest into the death of Hollyoaks and reality TV star Paul Danan, who was found unresponsive at his home in Bristol on January 15. The late star, who also appeared in Celebrity Big Brother and Celebrity Love Island, died from a cocktail of drugs, including cocaine and heroin.

The inquest heard that friends of Paul raised the alarm after not seeing him. They could not get hold of him for two days before he died, so got a ladder to look through an open window, and a neighbour entered to find him. There he found Paul, dead sitting slumped at the edge of his sofa, with the television still on.

Paul’s mum, Beverley Danan, paid tribute to her son saying: “Paul helped so many people from all walks of life but just could not help himself in the same way.” She added: “His smiling face and love for life will always be remembered.”

Coroner Debbie Rookes recorded a conclusion of misadventure. She told the coroner’s court in Bristol: “I do not have any evidence before me that Paul planned to take his own life.”

Baby dragged in buggy by Liverpool parade car avoids serious injury

A baby was dragged around 15ft in his pram(Image: Daily Mirror)

This morning, our News team reported on the baby who was dragged 15ft in his buggy by the Liverpool parade car and miraculously avoided serious physical injury. On Monday night, a Ford Galaxy ploughed into pedestrians in the city centre, including Daniel Eveson’s infant son and partner.

Daniel “thought he had lost everything” when baby Teddy was “chucked” down the road after the impact, while his partner went under the wheel of the vehicle. It has now been confirmed the baby escaped without significant physical harm.

A Good Samaritan in a nearby restaurant rushed to make sure Teddy was safe and then looked after the infant while Daniel tended to his spouse, it has now emerged. The dad’s partner was taken to hospital, where she spent at least Monday night.

Daniel said: “To me looking and finding his pram. To not knowing if he was alive. To seeing him alive. It was a lot to take on… I thought I had lost everything, I really did.”

Teddy was “chucked about 15ft down the road” in his pram. It is understood he remained inside the buggy, which buffeted any subsequent impacts. He did not need treatment at hospital, it is believed.

Brit found sleeping rough on Peru street after ‘terrifying’ ordeal

Hannah Almond

In other news, a British tourist who was feared missing in Peru has been found. Hannah Almond, 32, was on a yoga retreat to the South American country but after being attacked she was found slumped on a pavement by well-wisher friend Piero Villanueva who she had met briefly in Lima earlier in her trip.

Hannah travelled to Peru in March on a yoga retreat to “find herself,” friends say. However, Hannah lost contact with her friends there and thugs allegedly burned her possessions. She lost her phone, passport and was left penniless after she was attacked in the city of Cusco.

Friends have said that Hannah, a fashion graduate from Grimsby, suffered a mental health crisis after being attacked and may require psychiatric care before flying home. It is said she initially refused to accept assistance, with psychosis triggered by the trauma of being violently robbed leaving her too frightened to engage closely with officials or locals.

Piero told a local TV station late yesterday: “I have just found her. She is safe and well. I’d like to thank the authorities and the people who contacted me to so I could help her. A friend of Hannah is arriving in Cusco today and I’m talking with him to be able to assist her.”

In an update on a GoFundMe page set up over the weekend to help bring Hannah back to the UK, a friend Sophie Wallace said: “Due the help of everyone sharing the story, Hannah has thankfully been found and one of her friends is on the way to Cusco to persuade her to accept support and come home.”

Diana’s family left devastated after fire rages at estate where she’s buried

The fire that raged on the Althorp estate

This afternoon, our Royal team reported on the fire that destroyed a building at the estate where Princess Diana is buried. Taking to social media, the late royal’s younger brother Earl Spencer revealed that a farmhouse at Althorp House had been targeted by vandals and had burned down.

In the post, he shared pictures of the blaze as well as the aftermath showing the destroyed building. He penned on X: “Stunned to learn that one of @AlthorpHouse⁩’s farmhouses – fortunately, unoccupied at the time – was apparently burnt down by vandals last night. With thanks to @northantsfire ⁩for doing their very best. So very sad that anyone would think this a fun thing to do.”

Althorp’s conservation manager, Adey Greeno, later shared on the platform that the farmhouse had to be “razed to the ground” for “safety reasons”. Althorp has been the ancestral home of the Spencer family for 500 years and it was where Diana grew up after her parents divorced before she married the now King Charles. The 13,500-acre estate was where she was laid to rest after her untimely death in 1997.

Farage savaged as ‘poisonous’ after defending ‘racist’ Reform ad

Nigel Farage
The row comes amid speculation Nigel Farage could visit Scotland in the run-up to a by-election next week(Image: AP)

Finally, the leader of Scottish Labour has branded Nigel Farage a “poisonous man” after the Reform UK leader tried to justify a “racist” advert released by his party. Our Politics team reported that Mr Farage yesterday defended his party’s attack ad which claimed Anas Sarwar, who was born in Glasgow to Pakistani Muslim parents, will “prioritise” Pakistani people.

That attack prompted Mr Sarwar to brand the MP a “poisonous man who doesn’t understand Scotland”. At a press conference that was televised to the nation on Tuesday, Mr Farage played a clip of the Labour politician which he said supposedly justified Reform UK’s advert.

But the video did not show Mr Sarwar saying what the ad had claimed, with it instead showing him saying the Pakistani community should be represented in politics. “Pakistanis need (to be) represented in every mainstream political party in Scotland and across the UK,” the Scottish MP said in the video.

Mr Farage accused the leader of Scottish Labour of introducing “sectarianism into Scottish politics”. Mr Sarwar branded Reform UK’s attack “a blatant attempt from Nigel Farage to try and poison our politics here in Scotland”.
