While Joe Exotic earned a huge name for himself when he appeared on the hit Netflix documentary, Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness, the UK had their very own Tiger King with Terry Moore. The 78-year-old reached TV stardom and befriended a few pals in the showbiz industry before a police raid at his Hertfordshire-based Cat Survival Trust.

Big cats that were living in poverty in their enclosures were discovered at the location, where they were living. 26 endangered animals’ frozen carcasses were discovered in freezers, and it was soon discovered that a veterinarian hadn’t visited the location in years.

After a male puma threw his leg at him after a security door slammed into his hide, Terry needed to have his leg amputated.

Following reports of a medical emergency, officers were called to Codicote Road, Welwyn, at 4.04pm on Tuesday, November 5, according to a statement released at the time. Along with their colleagues in the ambulance service, officers were present at the scene. A man and a large cat that was crated on the property were involved in the incident.

The man, who is in his 70s, was taken to a hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries and treated by a doctor. He is still doing well. There is no longer a public threat, and the scene was quickly contained.

In a recent interview, Terry also mentioned the incident, saying, “I was losing so much blood. I called my wife and she helped me broom it on the head for ten minutes after hitting it with a broom. The cat became terrified. If the air ambulance hadn’t arrived, it would be pure luck that I had the phone and broom on hand.

In January, St. Albans Crown Court found that the British Tiger King had committed a number of animal welfare crimes, leading to the closure of his trust. Due to their health issues, the 28 animals at the trust were either rehomed or put to death.

Terry was given a £14,380 fine and banned from having animals for five years. However, Terry maintains that he hasn’t done anything wrong and defended having freezers filled with dead cats, including a snow leopard that died in the late 70s.

Due to issues with the wildlife trade, he claimed to The Sun. So I had to store them in the freezers instead. Our freezers were full of large cats, respectively.

Terry confessed that he occasionally put the cats in a box before stuffing it with plastic and filling it with carbon dioxide before putting them in a plastic bag.

He was charged and found guilty of using animals without a license for commercial gain and four counts of animal cruelty following the raid.

A wildcat named Hamish, a Bengali named Jasmine, a jungle cat named Lily, and a caracal were all named in the four counts. Terry was cleared of eight counts, though.

Rebel Wilson transforms figure in six-week plan after cutting out two food groups

Rebel Wilson, an Australian actress, overindulged in chocolate and ice cream during Easter, prompting her to embark on a new six-week health challenge.

After indulging a little too heavily over Easter, Rebel Wilson is hitting reset. The Pitch Perfect star, 45, who famously shed over 36kg during her widely-publicised “Year of Health” in 2021, has embarked on a fresh six-week health challenge – this time focusing on ditching her sweet cravings.

Sharing her journey with fans via Instagram, the Australian actress revealed that giving up her favorite treats hasn’t been easy. “The first few days were honestly tough,” Rebel confessed. “Giving up chocolate and ice cream – I wanted it so badly!”

Rebel is celebrating her progress, emphasizing that the goal is not to achieve perfection, despite a few errors. “I didn’t indulge in the sweets, but I did consume a few unhealthy things.” I still had a lot more energy than I had in a while. In my opinion, that is a win.

Her commitment is already paying off, with the actress revealing she dropped a kilogram in the first week. “It’s not about the number,” she explained, “but clearly, I was eating way too many Easter eggs before I started!”

After a fertility doctor advised her to prioritize wellness in order to increase her chances of having a child, Rebel made the decision to overhaul her health years ago. In a previous Instagram Live, she told viewers, “It wasn’t even really about me; it was thinking about a future mini-me.” That was what really launched it.

Not just about food, this new challenge. Rebel encourages her 11 million followers to join her by encouraging them to indulge in both physical and mental health as well as by adding something to their list. She said, “This week, I’m writing down five things I’m grateful for every night.”

In a lighthearted Instagram video where she posed in a bunny suit and admitted to having “like a dozen Cadbury Creme Eggs,” she officially launched the challenge.

She has endured temptation struggles after Easter weekend. In a candid Instagram post, she teased that “might or may not be on the train thinking of chocolate and ice cream,” but that doesn’t mean I haven’t broken the challenge, despite the difficulty!

Rebel has previously made a clamor in The Sunday Times about how important food and appetite are to her. She claims she understands the appeal of medications like Ozempic. She said, “Someone like me could have a bottomless appetite for sweets,” so I believe those drugs can help.

Wilson revealed that due to contractual obligations, she wasn’t even permitted to lose weight during her Pitch Perfect days. She remarked, “It was literally in my contract.” But after that last chapter, she began to give her health a greater focus.

Wilson’s challenge seems less like a strict diet and more like a mindful reset as she enters this new chapter of self-care. I’m therefore giving up ice cream and chocolate. What are you sacrificing?” She emailed her supporters. Let’s make a positive impact on ourselves.

Jordan ‘forcibly evicted’ Palestinians from informal refugee camp: HRW

An NGO claims that Jordanian authorities “forcibly evicted” about 100 people from a camp that houses displaced Palestinians.

In the capital’s al-Mahatta camp in November and December last year, the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) destroyed 25 homes and shops, according to Human Rights Watch (HRW) reporting on Tuesday.

The authorities paved the way for a town planning project, according to the humanitarian organization, who claimed that the evicted people were not given sufficient consultation, notice, compensation, or relocation assistance.

“Encroached upon”

Numerous people are left with few places to turn for help because of the displacement of families and the unavoidable consequences of their livelihoods, according to Adam Coogle, HRW’s deputy director for Middle East.

The Jordanian government does not recognize the al-Mahatta camp as a refugee camp, which is said to house approximately 8, 000 Palestinian refugees who were displaced by the 1948 Nakba.

The city’s authorities announced in December that the city’s four-year “Strategic Plan” for the city through 2026 includes traffic improvements, enhancing green space, and reducing the density of informal settlements’ residents.

According to the Alghad outlet, the city said the demolition operations also aim to reclaim formerly “encroached upon” and erected buildings on lands owned by the Amman Municipality.

Donation

According to HRW, dozens of residents who are now displaced claim to have been left in the dark and given only “two weeks to a month’s notice” to leave their homes and “vague verbal promises of compensation of 80 Jordanian dinars]$113] per square meter, with little transparency regarding the process or timeline.”

The displaced Palestinians were not entitled to compensation because they were “encroaching on state property,” according to Amman Mayor Yousef al-Shawarbeh, who cited the NGO as saying that they had been instead offered a “donation.”

Swansea set to appoint Sheehan as permanent boss

Following his successful tenure as caretaker manager, Swansea City are set to appoint Alan Sheehan as their permanent head coach.

Sheehan, 38, has impressed since taking over in February, when Luke Williams left.

When Williams left the club after a run of seven defeats in nine Championship games, Swansea was concerned about relegation.

However, Sheehan’s men are now certain to finish in the top half of the table, having earned 23 points from the Irishman’s 12 games in charge.

Sheehan confirmed discussions had been held over a long-term contract and stated that a decision would be made this week following last Saturday’s defeat at Millwall.

He has always been enthusiastic about taking the position for a long time, but he has repeatedly stressed that the club’s goals must be in line with his ideas.

Sheehan, a former Luton Town and Southampton coach, recently took over as Swansea’s assistant head coach.

Sheehan first assumed the role of caretaker boss in December 2023 when he helped Swansea collect 11 points from seven games prior to Williams’ appointment in January of last year. Heehan initially worked for Michael Duff’s backroom staff.

Sheehan made a second appearance in the top job after Williams said his farewells before making a second one.

Swansea were 17th at the time, eight points clear of the bottom three, but they have since turned in a remarkable form to climb to 11th.

Mike Peters dead: The Alarm frontman dies aged 66 after 30-year blood cancer battle

Mike Peters, the Alarm’s frontman, passed away following a diagnosis of blood cancer. A representative for the charity he co-founded with his wife announced that Mike had passed away at the age of 66, three decades after receiving his first cancer diagnosis.

Due to his health, Mike was forced to halt his US tour last year after being diagnosed with a rapidly advancing lymphoma. Mike’s passing left behind his wife and two children, as was revealed today.

He had planned to depart for the US last year, but he got a lump in his neck just five days before his 50-date US tour began. He was soon identified with Richter’s syndrome, which is where the chronic lymphocytic leukaemia transforms into a more aggressive lymphoma, thanks to quick medical attention.

Mike was just 36 years old when he received his first blood cancer diagnosis more than 30 years ago. He shared his own positive update just last year as he lengthyly posted a message of support for others who were experiencing Richter’s syndrome.

He stated in a letter from The Christie Hospital in Manchester in September that Professor Adrian Bloor had just informed him that I was now in complete remission following the completion of the clinical trial and chemotherapy.

It’s significant news, especially given that I was only diagnosed with aggressive Richter’s Syndrome in April and informed that I could expect to live just two to twelve months without getting treated.

He then thanked his wife and two sons, Dylan and Evan, for their support, as well as those who he had worked with for ensuring that he could still be on stage and perform as he loved and avoid getting infected.

He claimed he felt “lucky” to have discovered the lump while participating in an NHS clinical trial. He claimed that he “could not be here right now” if he hadn’t discovered it, and that he had been given the opportunity to spend a few months by doctors.

Mike also made an open confession regarding his 1995 diagnosis, in which he reaffirmed his conviction that he would not “let the disease rob me of a single minute of my life.” He explained that music helped him stay “mental strong” and that he wouldn’t give up.

He added, “I also make sure I stay as fit as I can, walk five miles a day with my dog Ziggy, and DJ every Friday at my wife, Jules’ bar The Red in our village of Dyserth, as he once shared his hope of being cured” forever.

England coach Mitchell to stay past home World Cup

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) has confirmed that England women’s head coach John Mitchell will continue in the role even if the Red Roses don’t win the Rugby World Cup at home this year.

Regardless of the outcome of the World Cup’s opening match in August, Mitchell, 61, and his England coaching staff have all signed contracts until June 2026.

England lost to New Zealand in the previous two World Cup finals, which was last won in 2014.

Results are important, according to Conor O’Shea, RFU director of rugby performance. “You don’t want people thinking about what their next job will be by having their contracts expire that day,” he said.

When Eddie Jones’ England lost to South Africa in the 2019 World Cup final, Mitchell was a member of the coaching staff. O’Shea supported him in handling the pressure that comes with leading a team at a home World Cup.

The men’s team failed to leave their pool at a 2015 World Cup in their absence, and the Red Roses lost the 2010 World Cup final to New Zealand on home soil.

Over the course of the next four or five months, Mitch [John Mitchell] will try to relieve that pressure from the group while also dealing with it and coming up with solutions, O’Shea continued.

Anyone who has successfully guided the All Blacks, England, the United States, and Japan will understand how to block out noise while also using pressure in a really effective way.

In a 43-42 thriller at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham on Saturday, England comfortably won their first four games of the Women’s Six Nations before holding on to defeat France by a point.

To extend their winning streak to 25 games, the victory gave them a fourth successive Grand Slam and seventh Six Nations title in a row.

The Black Ferns’ World Cup final defeat in 2022, when the Red Roses and Les Bleues squared off, was the closest the series had ever come to an end.

Anyone who believes they will win a World Cup because they are the hosts is lying to themselves, ex-Harlequins rugby director O’Shea continued.

Women continue to lose.

The RFU continues to invest £15 million annually, keeping England’s women from making a profit.

However, there are green shoots, with ticket sales increasing by 391% over the previous four years.

Despite losing the women’s game overall, they have collected £2.4 million in ticket sales just last season.

It’s not all about making money, said RFU director of the women’s game Alex Teasdale. In the end, I believe our purpose is to help the game grow.

37, 573 people tuned in to Allianz Stadium for last Saturday’s victory over France, a significant decrease from the 58, 498 people who also watched the same game in 2023.

Teasdale says: “We have got rugby world cup tickets on sale at the moment as well,” noting that Teasdale is not concerned by the figures.

Between Premiership Women’s Rugby and the RFU, we sold 250, 000 tickets for (women’s) rugby in England this year, according to “an interesting kind of stat from this season.”

We are in for more than a million tickets this year when you add the Rugby World Cup tickets to that (275, 000).

500 red cowboy hats were sold in the official stadium stores and outlets, one small success from the Allianz game.

Ellie Kildunne and Megan Jones, two Red Roses players who self-declared as the cowboys, are the owners of the hats.

About two hours before kick-off, Teasdale said the demand for hats “would need to significantly increase for the World Cup.”

Given that the Red Roses are known for having a very strong influence and background in their kind of country, she continued, “The cowboy hats are just really important in our trying to create a really strong fan engagement piece.”
