‘I’m Alive, Healthy,’ Sunny Ade Refutes Disappearance Claims

Sunday Adegeye, a popularly known as King Sunny Ade (KSA), a legendary Nigerian juju musician, has publicly refuted rumors that he may have vanished, saying that he is “alive, healthy, and grateful” to his fans.

The 78-year-old music icon released a press release on Tuesday via his official Instagram account in an effort to clear up the mess.

The singer reassured the public by describing the rumors as being entirely “false and malicious” and “true.”

I hereby declare as follows in contrast to the falsehood and fabricated news from April 28, 2025, which Damilola Esther Adeniyi-Adegeye and her associates spread when they discovered I was missing:

I’m still alive and well, Dr. Sunday Adeniyi-Adegeye MFR, also known as King Sunny Ade. My disappearance or my disappearance are entirely unsupported.

“I’m appreciative of my fans’ love and support. I appreciate your concern. I need to address these lies and let the public know I’m safe.

The statement read, “I admonish the blogger(s) and those spreading this misinformation to refrain from acting or be prepared to face legal action.”

The singer reiterated that he has performed at various events and is currently getting ready for an upcoming show in Akure, Ontario.

The “Aye Nreti Eleya” singer boldly stated that he was not kidnapped but rather took some time to recover in another popular video.

People are the honorary clothes I wear to protect myself, according to KSA. People started complaining about not seeing me after a few days of rest. I thank God that I didn’t abduct myself, I wasn’t kidnapped, and I didn’t go anywhere.

KSA was expressing his appreciation for the overwhelming concern his fans and associates all over the world in the video, which was captured inside a car.

People have been calling me nonstop for the past 70 or so hours, he continued, adding, “I must thank my fans everywhere.”

Rumour

On Monday, one of his daughters, Damilola Esther Adeniyi-Adegeye, allegedly claimed on Instagram that Dayo Adegeye, the artiste’s informal manager, was holding her father against her will, sparking online concerns about King Sunny Ade’s safety.

Damilola claimed Dayo mismanaged his finances, isolated their father from his family, and gave him sedatives to control him in her posts.

She wrote, “My brother wants to go home, but Dad told me that.” He is missing. His phones are missing. He hasn’t answered his calls or been online.

She also demanded Dayo’s arrest, alleging King Sunny Ade’s family members had acted improperly and improperly.

Dayo should be apprehended, I want to. I want him to give them all the money they have taken from him. She claimed that she has a UK visa and that she can run.

Hours later, she posted an Instagram message informing readers that she had just watched a video in which Sunny Ade (also known as Sunny Ade) is alright.

More Rebuttal

One of his sons, Dayo Adegeye, confirmed in a separate interview that his father is “hale and hearty” and that he has just performed at an event on Victoria Island. A second performance is scheduled for May 1 in Akure.

The claims were refuted by their father, who is still working of his own volition, according to his brothers, Emperor and David Adegeye.

The allegations have sparked mixed reactions among King Sunny Ade’s children, who have mostly refuted the allegations and defended his safety.

The musician has kept his composure despite the conflict between his family and his fans, choosing to appoint a confidant and assert his independence.

I’m currently traveling to a show. Last Saturday, I attended a performance in Lagos State’s Lekki. He said, “I thank Nigerians and everyone who is concerned.”

King Sunny Ade, however, warned that he might file legal action against those responsible for spreading the rumor, particularly bloggers and online platforms that made the claims without verification.

At least 22 people killed in restaurant fire in northeast China

According to Chinese authorities, the fire at a restaurant in Liaoyang in northern China left at least 22 people dead and three others injured.

The fire broke out shortly after noon on Tuesday, shortly after noon local time (04:25 GMT).

However, the scene’s images showed massive flames erupting from the multi-story building in Liaoyang, which is located about 580 kilometers (360 miles) northeast of Beijing.

According to state broadcaster CCTV, “the incident has resulted in 22 deaths and three injuries.”

Videos that were posted on TikTok, China’s version of TikTok, showed paramedics attempting to transport a victim on a stretcher to an ambulance and several firefighters using hoses to battle the flames.

More than a dozen fire engines were parked outside the restaurant in a second video that was captured from the social media platform above the scene.

According to Hao Peng, the secretary of Liaoning’s provincial ruling party committee, 85 firefighters and 22 fire trucks were on the scene.

Hao claimed that the on-site rescue operations had been finished and that people had been evacuated.

A long list of responding regional politicians, from the governor down, was provided along with a pledge to find the source of the disaster and severely punish those responsible.

According to CCTV, China’s President Xi Jinping demanded that “every effort is made to treat the injured, properly handle the aftermath for the deceased, provide support to their families, quickly determine the cause of the fire, and pursue accountability in accordance with the law.”

In China, workers frequently mistreat safety measures as a result of a lack of training or administrative pressure from their superiors.

Poor infrastructure, illegally stored chemicals, and a lack of fire exits and fire retardants, which are frequently aided by corruption, contribute to these disasters.

In recent months, there have been numerous instances of these deadly incidents. A fire at a nursing home in Hebei province, northern China, claimed the lives of at least 20 people on April 9.

Eight people were killed and 15 were hurt in a fire at a vegetable market in Zhangjiakou, northwest of Beijing, in January.

Kate Middleton explains she got chainsaw for Christmas for unexpected reason

The Prince and Princess of Wales have spent their 14th wedding anniversary today on the Isle of Mull, where they visited a community centre and Kate revealed her unusual Christmas present as well as a new hobby

The Princess of Wales has revealed she has taken up beekeeping and received a chainsaw for Christmas as she immersed herself in nature to recover from cancer. The future queen today joined husband Prince William on the Isle of Mull in the Inner Hebrides, as they celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary, mucking in at the community hall in the village of Tobermory, and asking for tips on carpentry and beekeeping.

Kate, who has previously told how nature became her family’s ‘sanctuary’ after her diagnosis and during chemotherapy last year, told a local beekeeper how she was “desperate for any tips” for her new hobby. Reminiscing with locals about their private visit 20 years ago, the Princess also revealed how she still has two watercolour paintings she bought in the town as a student hanging in a bedroom at home.

They also spoke about the three children they have had since their last trip, their love of soft play, and how the Princess visited the Waitrose cafe with baby Prince George for lack of any local mother and baby groups to take him to then. The couple began their two-day stay on Mull with a visit to the Aros community centre, built in the 19th century and home to events from wedding receptions to pantos, yoga classes and ceilidhs.

Upstairs in the hall, the Prince and Princess were shown some of the refurbishment work, meeting the painter, carpenter and volunteers. The Prince spotted a photograph of his late grandmother and grandfather’s visit to the island in 1956, proclaiming it ‘amazing’.

Shown a small work station, where Tom Nelson was making a new ‘surround’ for the community food bank fridge with wooden tiles on its roof, the Prince and Princess agreed to use a nail gun to add their own. William went first, sniffing the wood as he asked what kind it was and taking instructions on the tool.

He fired several nails in successfully before handing it over to his wife, advising her not to pull the trigger then and there “otherwise our trip will be remembered for all the wrong reasons”. Crouching down and adding her tiles matter-of-factly, the Princess was heard to say “I’ve been given a chainsaw” for Christmas.

Banjo, admiring her work, told William “What can’t she do!”. William, acknowledging his wife’s prowess at trying things out on public engagements, replied: “That always happens.” The downstairs of the hall has been converted partly into a new soft play, complete with pretend play area and mini cafe for young children and their families.

It is newly-painted with a puffin mural, which the Prince and Princess were invited to paint a flower on to. The Prince ushered his wife to do the first one, joking that she is the artistic one and that there is “no competition”. The Princess took her time painting a small white flower, persuading her husband to do his own.

“I think we’ve found Banksy,” joked Banjo Beale, the interior designer and television presenter who lives locally and is working on the renovation. “It’s you.”

“Come on, please please,” Kate asked William, handing him a paintbrush and palette, and patting him on the back and briefly leaning her head on his shoulder afterwards. At a pop up market on the other side of the harbour, Kate, 43, revealed how she has taken up beekeeping at her family home in Norfolk, as she continues her recovery from cancer.

The princess spent so long speaking to Sheila Barnard at a pop up market in the village of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull in the Inner Hebrides, that her husband Prince William jokingly suggested he was going to stage an intervention. Moving along several stall holders from local businesses, William and Kate – known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay when in Scotland, stopped to talk to Sheila and her husband Tim who have been keeping bees for more than 30 years.

Sheila told the princess how their nine colonies of the native black bee are the only variety that survive over 5 degrees during the harsh winters on the island. Kate said: “This is my summer project, I’ve only just started. At our home in Norfolk, I’m not there much during term time but during the summer I am hoping to really immerse myself in the process. I find it absolutely fascinating. I’ll have to take your number for some tips!”

Sheila and her husband Tim moved to the island 32 years ago from their home in Buckinghamshire and ‘revitalised’ the Mull and Iona Beekeeping Association, bringing together other locals fascinated by the creatures. Sheila told how they make scented candles from beeswax and cultivate the honey at the end of the season, in October, so “we never steal from the bees”.

As Kate asked Sheila “what sort of advice would you have for a novice, I’m desperate for any tips”, William leant in and joked to his wife: “This sounds like a conversation that could go on for a while so you’ll have to take Sheila’s number.”

The Prince and Princess, who are staying in a self-catering cottage on the island tonight, spent more than an hour walking through the small town’s harbour front road, shaking hands and taking photographs with locals and holidaymakers.

Many recalled their previous stay, described by the Prince of Wales as being in “2002…2004… somewhere around then”, and previously royal visitors including the late Queen and Prince Philip in 1956 and regular visits from Princess Anne as she pops into the shops while sailing around the islands off the west coast of Scotland.

The Prince said he could always confirm whether he had visited a place before because he is usually asked to sign the visitors’ book, joking that he may have had “one or two ciders” during his long weekend on Mull as a student. The couple will tomorrow meet forest rangers working to protect the stunning natural environment on the island and travel by ferry to the neighbouring island of Iona.

Israel releases Gaza paramedic who survived deadly attack on health workers

According to the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), a Palestinian paramedic who survived a deadly Israeli attack on a group of first responders in southern Gaza last month has been released from Israeli custody.

According to the PRCS, at least 10 Palestinian detainees were among those who were detained on Tuesday and were taken into custody in the Gaza Strip.

After 37 days in Israeli detention, the organization shared footage that appeared to show a clearly emotional al-Nassasra embracing his colleagues on social media.

After the Israeli military fatally shot 15 health workers on March 23, in an attack that drew widespread outcry and calls for an independent investigation, his exact whereabouts were unknown.

According to the PRCS, “He had been detained while performing his humanitarian duties in the Tel Al-Sultan area of Rafah Governorate’s massacre of medical teams.”

Israeli forces opened fire on the doctors who were driving ambulances to aid Palestinians who were being treated for wounds at the site of a previous Israeli attack, according to the PRCS.

The organization claimed that its team lost communication with it, and Israeli forces blocked access to the incident’s location.

A week later, when UN and Palestinian officials arrived in the area, they discovered a mass grave with bodies and bulldozed ambulances.

According to the PRCS, six members of the Palestinian Civil Defense Team and one UN employee were killed in addition.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society’s statement on March 30 stated that the massacre of our team was a tragedy for both humanitarian work and humanity.

One of the slain doctors’ mobile phones had a video that captured their final moments. Before being shot by Israeli forces, they were inside clearly identifiable rescue vehicles and had highly reflective uniforms.

The Israeli military announced it would investigate the incident in the midst of the international outcry.

It claimed last week that a number of “professional failures” had been identified as a result of its investigation. One soldier was fired, according to the army, and their code of ethics was upheld.

The PRCS criticized the findings made by the Israeli military and demanded an UN body’s independent and impartial investigation.

One of two survivors.

Al-Nassasra, 47, is one of the two people who survived the attack.

Munther Abed, the other survivor, claimed at the time that he witnessed al-Nassasra being bound, captured, and taken away.

According to his son Mohamed, the father of six last spoke to his family the night of the Israeli attack when he vanished, telling them that he was about to break his Ramadan fast with his coworkers.

He didn’t respond when the family tried to call him at dawn the following day, and the PRCS informed them that neither he nor the other emergency personnel could reach him.

Al-Nassasra’s son said Al-Nassasra’s family had always been warned that whenever he set out on a mission, he might not return. Al-Nassasra continued his work throughout Israel’s 18-month war against Gaza, but the family made an effort to avoid thinking about it.

Al-Nassasra’s coworker Ibrahim Abu al-Kass also reported to Al Jazeera that al-Nassasra would always hand out candy to children to encourage them to play somewhere safe, not in the middle of the road.

During the war, Israel has intensified its arrest campaign. At least 9,900 Palestinians are currently being held in Israeli detention facilities, including 400 children, according to the Palestinian prisoner support group Addameer.

More than 3,400 people are being held in “administrative detention,” which is an indefinite term that can be renewed for six-month periods.

Before being transported to a hospital in Deir el-Balah’s Deir el-Balah for medical checkups, Al-Nassasra and the ten other detainees were released through the Kissufim checkpoint along with them.

According to Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum, the detainees who were released from jail, had reported being tortured in “horrific ways” and were in a “bad physical and psychological state.

During the Gaza bombardment, Israeli forces frequently target first responders, humanitarian workers, and journalists.
