Drew Barrymore has opened up about motherhood and how it has changed her, admitting that she was ‘ selfish ‘ before she had her two daughters Olive, 12, and Frankie, 10

Drew Barrymore confessed that she was “selfish” before embracing motherhood. The 50-year-old actress-turned-chat show host, who shares Olive, 12, and Frankie, 10, with her former spouse Will Kopelman, conceded that while being a mum is “consuming”, she actually “prefers” this version of herself.

In response to a fan’s query about how long it took her to regain her sense of self after having a baby, she wrote: “I’m still not myself. And I don’t know if I will ever get back to the carefree, selfish person I was before children. I can never not know this love and concern I have for my two daughters. It’s consuming. I am just trying to embrace the new me. And I do prefer me now.

The Hollywood star added in her UsWeekly piece:” I’m much more capable. Much more trustworthy. Much more admirable than I ever was.

However, the Never Been Kissed star also emphasised that both child-free living and parenthood should be viewed as “considered perfectly fulfilling roads” in life, and that “time” is the ultimate tool for self-discovery.

She added: “‘ Motherhood ‘ or ‘ otherhood ‘ should be considered perfectly fulfilling roads. And may each one of them lead us to our better selves. I think this takes time, though. Maturity has so much to do with it. Time is the great teacher”.

Subsequently, Drew was quizzed on how she manages to organise family holidays that cater to everyone’s preferences and requirements.

She elaborated on vacation planning preferences: “If one family member loves to be lazy and make no plans and lie around all day… let them do that!

” And if other members are active and want to see a place and experience it for all it is, you just have to put together two different itineraries.

“One, the Lazy Man’s Agenda, which is you let them figure it out for themselves! And tell them they are always invited. No. 2, the people who want to be proactive, you search out restaurants, activities, traditions, sites to be seen or local off-the-beaten-path suggestions, and you can aggregate from simple Google searches or magazine clippings or friends who have been there.”

Drew recently chatted with Meghan Markle on her daytime US talk show, just days after the release of the Duchess’ Netflix show With Love, Meghan.

During the segment, Meghan did a cooking demonstration of thumbprint cookies with Drew. The former Suits actress also gave several glimpses into her family life with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, while opening up about her marriage to Prince Harry.

In one of the most telling moments during the interview, Drew welcomed viewers and told them she had been joined by Meghan Sussex.

The names of Gene Hackman and his spouse Betsy Arakawa have been quietly scrubbed from New Mexico’s Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI) list of “unclaimed decedents”, amidst rumours suggesting a bitter family division at play over the bodies left unattended.

This comes after mounting speculation that their loved ones had yet to lay claim to the bodies, igniting talks of “family feud”. Up till Thursday night, the Hackmans were still marked on the OMI’s website, but by Friday morning, People observed they’d vanished from the record.

An official from the medical examiner’s office clarified to People that even if a name is present on the list, “in many cases, OMI is in contact with legal next of kin, and plans are underway to transport the body to a funeral home or place of burial”.

According to the current protocol, an “unclaimed decedent” implies individuals have been ID’ed, but Next-of-Kin haven’t been tracked down. This revelation comes hot on the heels of conjecture earlier this week suggesting their kin hadn’t taken responsibility for their remains a month post their passing.

Gene, aged 95, and Betsy, aged 65, were discovered dead inside their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, alongside one of their trio of canine companions in February. Come March, the specifics surrounding Gene and Betsy’s demise came to light.

Under the order, documents containing images or videos of the body of Hackman or Arakawa, the interior of their home, or their deceased animals, cannot be released.

Post-mortem examination and death investigation reports are also not able to be disclosed by the Office Of The Medical Investigator under the hold.

The US state’s open records law blocks public access to sensitive images, including depictions of people who are deceased. But the bulk of death investigations by law enforcement and post-mortem examination reports by medical investigators are still typically considered public records under state law to ensure government transparency and accountability.

It comes after Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office found that Betsy’s phone was last used on February 12 to call a medical centre in Santa Fe called Cloudberry Health.

A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said three calls were made to Cloudberry Health, and one from the medical centre to Arakawa’s phone was made that afternoon, and appeared as a missed call on the device.

R&amp, B legend Usher began his London residency this weekend and followed up his epic opening show with a boat trip down the River Thames with 100 VIP guests

Following the opening night of his Past Present Future European Tour, Usher took to the River Thames for a celebration. The musician, 46, marked the occasion with a stylish celebration as he set sail down the river.

He was joined by over one hundred VIP guests, as he sailed from Greenwich Pier to take in the breathtaking views of London’s most iconic landmarks, including The London Eye and Tower Bridge. The boat party then arriving at Embankment Pier. Usher was joined by guests, including musician RAYE, and presenter Judi Love, with the ensemble heading to The Yeah Man at The Box Soho.

It comes as the King of R&amp, B got his near-two week stint at London’s 02 Arena under way on Saturday. The superstar was on top form as he sang over 40 of his hits to the sold out crowd on night one.

He was seen feeding fans in the crowd fruit in crazy scenes as he kicked off his run in the capital with a bang.

Usher, best known for huge tracks such as You Make Me Wanna and YEAH showed off his talents and showmanship at the first take.

Mirror reporter Janine Yaqoob was on hand to take in the party atmosphere, saying: “From his multiple outfit changes, to his interactions with the crowd, pumped up Usher kept the energy levels up throughout the two hour set, so much so he was dripping in sweat for most of it.”

The star is said to have got his fans in attendance hot under the collar with his array of raunchy routines. Sometimes the efforts saw him go topless and grind against a microphone stand and grab his crotch.

Usher’s 10-show run at the 02 will conclude on May 7, with the star performing April 1 -2nd, 5-6th, 8-9th and 11th April, before his final shows on May 6th and 7th.

Usher initially announced his UK tour following his thrilling Super Bowl half-time show last year. He revealed it will mark 30 years in the music industry and promised fans a performance of a lifetime.

It is the singer’s first European tour since 2015. As well as entertaining the crowds in London, he will head to Paris, Amsterdam and then Berlin, concluding his tour in Germany’s Mercedes-Benz Arena in May.

After announcing his tour, Usher said: “Europe, you ready? After the epic experience at the Super Bowl and the huge demand for shows across North America, I’m happy to announce I’m coming your way as well – for shows in London, Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin.

” This tour is both a celebration of the past 30 years and a glimpse into the future. We are just getting started! “

Jessie J shared a series of unseen pictures of her with her baby son Sky Safir Cornish Colman as she celebrated Mother’s Day. The pop star uploaded an array of black and white pictures to Instagram where she is seen cuddling him as a newborn laying in bed topless.

The wholesome images also see her posing with Sky and his father Chanan Safir Colman with the trio looking blissfully happy. She captioned the post: “Forever grateful. Forever Sky. I was 11 days post partum in these pictures and had no clue what I was doing. I still don’t always know. But I do know that I love this boy more than anything in this world.”

Jessie welcomed Sky in May 2023 after she previously shared her devastation at suffering a miscarriage in 2021. Earlier this week she denied rumours that she is expecting a second baby after uploading a picture to Instagram where she appeared to be cradling her stomach.

Sharing a photo Dump on March 25 she was seen spending quality time with Sky and playing the piano in the pictures. But one shot in particular caught the eye of fans as began speculating that she was pregnant. The picture saw her posing in a mirror wearing a black oversized blazer with one hand placed on her stomach.

One fan then commented: “I thought there was a baby on the way”, as many more also agreed that they had thought the same thing. Another wrote: “First pic…. Don’t you ever do this to me again. I was in tears thinking about baby 2”.

However, Jessie was quick to deny that she is pregnant and told fans she is focused on making new music which will mark her first release since 2018.

She teased some of her new work back in October 2024 when she posted an Instagram video of herself singing the lyrics to a new ballad titled The Award Goes To.

At the time she wrote: “I wrote this song the day I fired my last (6th manager) 3 years ago for being uninterested in me and my career dreams”. She then clarified that she had tried to release the song when she was six months pregnant but had been blocked by her label.

She added: “Even though this song is still not available to buy, I sing it because the clarity and strength it gives me has made me make some of the best decisions in my career and life to date”.

Since then Jessie has been focused on motherhood after welcoming Sky following an open battle with her fertility.

At the time of Sky’s birth she wrote on Instagram: “A week ago my whole life changed”, she said on her Instagram Stories at the time. “My son entered this world and my heart grew twice the size. The feeling is indescribable. I am flying in love”.
