Zara McDermott first gained notoriety on Love Island and had a relationship with Made in Chelsea’s Sam Thompson. She is now dating Louis Tomlinson, a former One Direction singer.
Zara McDermott and her boyfriend Louis Tomlinson made a rare public appearance together last weekend. The pair held hands together at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
The One Direction star gave his stylish girlfriend an run for her money by turning up in a shiny silver tracksuit with eye-catching red piping. He paired the outfit with silver trainers and circular sun glasses made by Ray Ban.
In a tailored dark blue denim suit, Zara looked a little more formal. Although the shirt had wide sleeves and a bottom that popped out, darts at the waist made it fit. Her wide-legging jeans almost obscured the black pointed toe heels she was wearing on her feet. Zara added a cute detail by matching Louis’ tracksuit’s piping to Zara’s red nails.
The pair attended the event in Paradise, Nevada. They were joined by celebrity guests including, Beyonce, Cynthia Erivo, Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas.
As they watched, Max Verstappen sped to a victory, whilst UK favourite Lewis Hamilton finished at a crushingly low spot of 10th place. He would have finished lower, but Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were both disqualified as their cars failed to reach minimum skid wear measurments. McClaren had to apologise to Norris and Piastri, who would ahve finished second and fourth respectively if they hadn’t been disqualified.
Prior to the Grand Prix, Louis performed on stage. The star was in One Direction for years after the band was the runaway success from their series of The X Factor in 2010. Their popularity, particularly in America, was likened to Beatlemania.
Since splitting up in 2016, Louis has since released two solo albums, including one that reached the top of the UK Official Charts. He is scheduled to release a second album, How Did I Get Here?, in January.
He and Zara have been in a relationship since early 2025. Their relationship was made public in August via a social media post. Zara is thought to have moved into his north London home, after leaving the Fulham residence she shared with ex-boyfriend Sam Thompson. The couple split in December 2024.
There were rumors that their breakup was difficult, but a source told the Daily Mail that it wasn’t: “There hasn’t been any scandal or fallout between them; it’s just the result of a difficult year where they both had to spend a lot of time focusing on their own projects.”
Louis has previously tried to keep his relationships low-key, but did open up about some of his past girlfriends. In 2011, he started dating Eleanor Calder, and the pair were together for four years before breaking up in 2015. They rekindled their romance in 2017, and Louis told The Sun that he wanted to marry her. He said: “If you’re asking me if I’m going to marry her? Yes, I think so!”
Louis briefly dated Briana Jungwirth during the two years that followed. Freddie, the son of the two, was born in 2016, and they are the parents. Because Louis has tried to keep Freddie out of the spotlight, he hasn’t been much seen in public.
