Dayana Yastremska, a Ukrainian, may have an allergy to grass, but she said she enjoys it now that she has won her first competition at the Nottingham Open.

In a rain-sparing semi-final, the world number 46 defeated Polish sixth seed Magda Linette 6-4 6-4 to advance to Sunday’s final, where McCartney Kessler will face American McCartney Kessler, who defeated Slovakia’s Rebecca Sramkova 6-4 6-2.

Even though I believe I have a bit of an allergy to grass, Yastremska said, “I really enjoy playing on it.”

“I’m very excited and proud of myself,” she said. Overall, everything ran smoothly. I’m looking forward to the final.

Yastremska will face Beatriz Haddad Maia in the first round, Katie Boulter from the quarter-finals, and Beatriz Haddad Maia from the top seed, who has only lost one set in the final.

The BBC broadcasts the final at 12:00 BST.
