X Factor contestant looks totally different 18 years on from reaching ITV show’s final
Over the past 18 years, Eoghan Quigg, who won the title of finalist on The X Factor in 2008, has undergone a significant change.
Eoghan’s appearance is significantly different from that of his younger self. Gone is the spiky-haired, cute singer fans once knew, replaced by a tattooed, bearded version of the former star.
Eoghan and Amy welcomed their son Camden in April of 2023 and Emmy Belle in April of 2021, two years after being fully immersed in family life. He also helps raise Amy’s two children, Cooper and Milla, from a previous relationship. Eoghan came in third on The X Factor, trailing only JLS and Alexandra Burke, who she mentored.
He now lives in his 32nd year and shares moments from his life on social media. He is a musician and digital creator. He recently posted a humorous commentary on the difficulties of beginning a January health kick in a video of himself enjoying a large pizza. In contrast to Liam Payne, a fellow contestant with whom he became famous with One Direction, in reflecting on his career, Eoghan expressed gratitude for choosing a simpler life with a focus on family and community.
Eoghan recently claimed that Liam assisted him in getting through the X Factor, but he claims there is no way he would permit his child to participate. He was just 16 when he made it into the semi-finals of Simon Cowell’s singing competition in 2008, and is now a radio presenter in Ireland. The One Direction singer, who was 14 when he first tried to win the judges, then returned a few years later as he completely dominated the world.
The Northern Irish singer, who died last week, paid tribute to the tragic star and expressed his gratitude that he had not surpassed Liam’s height in the industry. The father-of-two claims in a Talk TV interview that he and his mother Karen were determined to help him with the demands on the reality television program.
He said: “I first met Liam when he was 14 and I was 15. We were quite young, two similar lads, who liked football, liked music, still at school. Through Bootcamp, we got to know each other and then when we went to the judge’s houses we really, really bonded then. I was only 15, it was my third time out of Ireland. She checked on me and ensured that everything was alright. It’s a very dark day for the music industry”.
He continued, “I don’t think I’d be really comfortable with asking my child if Daddy can I go on a reality TV show.” Just with the social media aspect. When I joined social media in 2008, I had the good fortune that it wasn’t all that big. I kind of have to count my blessings because it was just beginning. Because it’s a very dark place”.
Sweet Eoghan was supposed to be signed by Simon after his X Factor success, but he instead chose to sign with RCA. Since then, he has released an album in 2009 and has entered the Irish national team to win the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest.
