As his uncertain future takes a new turn, Yoane Wissa has removed all ties to Brentford from his Instagram account.
The DR Congo forward wants to join Newcastle after being excluded from the squad for Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest.
This summer, Brentford turned down at least one offer for the forward, according to the Magpies.
Wissa threatened to not play or train for the club again if it did not approve of his protracted move to St James’ Park after arriving early from their pre-season camp in Portugal.
The 28-year-old returned to first-team training while continuing to make clear that he wanted to join Newcastle after there had been a minor thawing of relations since then.
However, according to sources, Brentford are still hesitant to let Wissa leave because they believe he is now worth more than the original £40m asking price.
According to reports, Brentford is now willing to pay £60 million for Wissa, who did not play for the team in the pre-season.
The forward has now removed all images of him training or playing for the club from his official Instagram page, causing the conflict between Wissa and Brentford to escalate.
Tottenham is also interested, but Newcastle’s move appears to be more recent. Will Brentford decide to let him go before the transfer deadline?
