Brandon Williams says he has since refocused on his football career and learned lessons from his mistakes.

Williams has agreed to a one-year contract with Hull City to begin a new chapter.

He was suspended for two years after serving a 14-month sentence for dangerous driving, which he did for 20 months.

Former Manchester United full-back wanted to look back on the dark chapter despite it being dark.

The 24-year-old told BBC Radio Humberside, “I wasn’t in a good place at the time,” she said.

After rising through the ranks at Old Trafford, Williams started 51 games for United.

It appeared as though he was going to have a glittering career when more than two thirds of those appearances occurred during his debut season as a teenager under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s supervision.

He was detained for dangerous driving in August 2023 before being let go by United for the summer and taking a complete break from football.

He claimed, “I just lost my football love.” “I had a lot going on and couldn’t concentrate on my football,” he said. “Things were going on off the pitch.”

Williams sees leaving football as the right decision for him in the height of his career, which is difficult.

He was able to work away from the glare of the general public, and thanks to successfully completing a trial period with Hull, he can now begin to rebuild.

He said, “I took action to step away from the game, but I think I did it well.”

“I was working silently. I was working the entire time, despite everyone’s questioning of my actions.

“I made sure I was ready to return to football,” he said. The goal has always been that.

It was crucial that I did get the training and friendlies in before the pre-season, because I was ready to return to football.

Williams was a substitute for the Tigers’ Sunday victory over Oxford United in the Championship.

He appeared in a few pre-season games, but his eagerness is his first competitive appearance since December 2023.

However, he did feel he had missed out on the game because of his involvement in the squad.

He said, “I’ve missed the nerves and butterflies before the game.”

I was eager to join the pitch because I’m not very patient, but that will probably follow. I must now make an impression on the manager.
