Will diplomacy end the conflict in eastern DRC?

After holding direct talks in Qatar, Congolese and Rwandan leaders demanded a ceasefire.
Since the late 1990s, there has been conflict in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
After gaining control of significant eastern cities this year, the Rwandan-backed armed group M23 has been expanding.
On Tuesday, the rebels were scheduled to meet with DRC government officials in Angola. However, M23 rebels withdrawn, blaming their decision on the new European Union sanctions.
In Doha on Wednesday, President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, and President Felix Tshisekedi of the DRC met.
Eastern DRC leaders demanded a quick ceasefire.
