Jake Wightman, Josh Kerr, and Neil Gourley claim to be in good company at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in the summer of next year.

Wightman won second place in the Tokyo 1500-meter final, giving the trio their gold from 2022.

Gourley placed 10th overall, Kerr, world champion in 2023, and Olympia silver medalist last year.

Wightman, 31, believes that having two significant competitions in the UK in 2026 would be a chance he might not otherwise have.

The former Olympian has had a rough recovery in Tokyo despite recovering from injuries from his triumph in Eugene [Oregon] two years ago.

Next year, Wightman hopes to achieve double glory on home soil.

He added that there will also be an electric European Championships in Birmingham.

There are a lot of reasons why Brits will demand that we step up next year because performing in front of a crowd at home is something that’s lacking.

You’re not sure if we’ll get another one like that, he continued, “I hope we can try to make the most of it next year.”
