We now know who has advanced to the knockout stage with the conclusion of the Europa League group stage games.

Manchester United are the only team to have an unbeaten record and reach the last 16 since their 2-0 victory over FCSB.

An injury-hit Tottenham beat Elfsborg 3-0 and Rangers saw off Union Saint-Gilloise 2-1 to also avoid extra games in the knockout play-offs.

Through each stage, these teams exist:

Last 16: Lazio, Athletic Bilbao, Manchester United, Tottenham, Eintracht Frankfurt, Lyon, Olympiakos, Rangers.

Knockout phase play-offs: Bodo/Glimt, Anderlecht, FCSB, Ajax, Real Sociedad, Galatasaray, Roma, Ferencvaros, Viktoria Plzen, Porto, Midtjylland, Union Saint-Gilloise, AZ Alkmaar, PAOK, Twente, Fenerbahce.

Who meets in the knockout phase play-offs?

The teams that placed between ninth and twenty-eighth compete in two-legged play-off matches on February 13 and 20 to determine who will advance to the last 16.

The draw will take place on Friday, 31 January at 12: 00 GMT… but teams already know which sides they have a 50-50 chance of meeting because of their final positions in the league phase.

At this point, none of the three competing British teams are involved.

In addition, players are aware of the two possible opponents in the last 16 if they advance to the play-off.

Fenerbahce or Twente will square off against Bodo, Glimt, Anderlecht, and Ferencvaros or Porto will face Roma or Viktoria Plzen.

In the final 16 meetings, who meets?

Manchester United or Tottenham will take on either AZ Alkmaar, Midtjylland, Real Sociedad or Galatasaray in the last 16.

Rangers will face either Twente, Fenerbahce, Bodo/Glimt or Anderlecht.

Those ties will take place on 6 and 13 March.

Lazio and Roma, Italian city rivals, also have a chance to meet in the last 16.

Before the last-16 draw on February 21st, clubs won’t know which team they will face exactly.

Which British clubs might be joining later?

After finishing the group stages in third and fourth, respectively, causing them to meet in the final, Manchester United and Tottenham cannot meet.

However, one of them might face Rangers in the finals.
