What I Discussed With El-Rufai – SDP Chair
Shehu Gabam, the national leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), opened his discussion with Nasir El-Rufai, the APC’s chieftain.
Gabam, who was a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Thursday, said his party has done nothing wrong in holding talks with ex-Kaduna governor El-Rufai.
“Why the dust about Malam Nasir El-Rufai? They say he is not significant, he’s nothing. Why the worry about El-Rufai? Why the worry about Segun Sowunmi? Why won’t the government fill the necessary roles for them to increase the effectiveness of the government if they are significant? he queried.

He claimed that the party’s goal was to analyze the state of the nation in 2024. We are an opposition party with elected members in the parliament, state assemblies, and in the local governments. Therefore, as a party, we have a duty to look at areas where things aren’t going well, squander the opportunity to meet with many people, and open the party’s door.
” It’s the same things APC did when PDP was misbehaving, they re-organised, they regrouped, they relaunched a merger that led to the defeat of the PDP.
“So, we are not doing anything wrong. I’m not sure why the gossip is so intense, as if it were Nasir El-Rufai or Segun Sowunmi, both of whom are friends, were the first to visit. We’ve been in this struggle for a better Nigeria, not to undermine Nigeria”.
The SDP chairman said the ministers in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet don’t have the capacity to drive the president’s vision. He claimed that Nigeria has never experienced the economic hardship it is currently experiencing.
