What did Gregg Wallace say to Penny Lancaster? As Rod Stewart slams ‘tubby bully’
After her husband, Sir Rod Stewart, accused the presenter of bullying, a heated exchange between Gregg Wallace and Penny Lancaster has resurfaced.
Kirsty Wark, a former Newsnight host, is one of 13 people who allege the MasterChef presenter made inappropriate sexual remarks. Wallace, who has resigned as host of the cooking program, has refuted claims that he made inappropriate sexual remarks.
Wallace, 60, is “committed to fully cooperating throughout the process” during the investigation process, a statement from the show’s production company Banijay UK said. Following the news, Sir Rod referred to Wallace as a “tubby, bald-headed, ill-mannered bully”. He wrote: “So Greg Wallace gets fired from Masterchef. You humiliated my wife while she was on the show, but did you not have that little bit cut out? You’re a tubby, bald-headed, ill-mannered bully. Karma got ya. Sir Rod Stewart”.
Penny, the star of Loose Women, was left embarrassed after eating her fried calamari and tartare sauce in a new clip on the cooking program. As she prepared her dish, Penny beamed with confidence and said, “I’m doing surprisingly well compared to what I imagined how I’d be doing.” I don’t want to slip up now”.

However, when it came to tasting her dish things quickly went wrong. As she plated up, Penny said: “That tartare sauce doesn’t look like the tartare sauce I’d normally have”. Gregg told her: “You used whole eggs instead of egg yolks”. Judge John Torode added: “What I’ve got in here is a raw egg/oil milkshake. Unfortunately, I can’t eat that”.
With the help of her peers for her chicken and coconut curry, green papaya chutney, grated apple, turnip and carrot salad, and coconut rice, Penny was able to move on from her error later in the episode. Gregg told her, “You have had what we call a very good day, in the industry, I found myself going from bowl to bowl to bowl and finding it difficult to stop.”
However, during the episode she was eliminated from, chaos broke out in the kitchen. Penny was struggling with her timings as Gregg quipped: “Mate, we can’t be 10 minutes late”. He then branded her delay ‘ serious’. Walsh and John have co-hosted MasterChef since 2005.
The BBC received complaints from people regarding historical allegations of misconduct while working with presenter Gregg Wallace on one of our shows, according to a statement released earlier this week. Although these complainants have not directly contacted our network’s producers or parent company Banijay UK, we believe it is appropriate to conduct an independent, thorough investigation right away.

Gregg Wallace will step down from his MasterChef role while this review is being conducted, and he will work closely with him all the way through. On all productions, Banijay UK’s duty to its staff is always a top priority, and we always make our expectations clear to both the cast and the crew, with various ways to raise concerns, including being clearly promoted on set, including by phone.
It continued:” Whilst these are historical allegations, incidences brought to our attention where these expectations are not met, are thoroughly investigated and addressed appropriately. We take any concerns that are raised with us seriously and have effective procedures in place to handle them, according to a BBC spokesperson. We are always making it clear that any behavior that does not meet the standards set by the BBC will be tolerated. When an individual is hired by an external production company directly, we share any grievances or concerns with that organization and will always assist them in their communication.
After leaving MasterChef, Wallace thanked his fans on Instagram for their continued support. I would like to thank all the people for getting in touch, reaching out, and sharing their support. That’s good of you. Thank you very much. Gregg “took matters into his own hands on Sunday morning despite previous statements that his spokesperson had made.”
The cooking expert addressed those who were criticizing him on Instagram and claimed that he had never received any complaints from his screen-working career of 20 years. He claimed that some middle-class women of a certain age were among his accusers and that other MasterChef female contestants had made sexual remarks of their own.
In his Instagram Stories videos, Gregg said:” I’ve been doing MasterChef for 20 years. Amateur, Celebrity and Professional MasterChef. And in that time, I have worked with over 4, 000 contestants of all different ages, all different backgrounds, all walks of life. And apparently now, I’m reading in the paper, there’s been 13 complaints in that time. A select few middle-class women of a certain age are expressing their opinions in the newspaper, just like Celebrity MasterChef. This isn’t right. “
He continued in a second video:” In 20 years of television, can you imagine how many women, female contestants, on MasterChef have made sexual remarks or sexual innuendo. Can you imagine? “
And in a further video message to fans, he commented:” This is important to me. Twenty years of doing Celebrity MasterChef, Amateur, Professional, Eat Well For Less, Inside the Factory… Do you know how many staff, all different sorts of staff, can you imagine the people I’ve worked with? How many employees criticized me during that time, exactly? … Absolutely none. Zero. Seriously. “
