We are not ruthless enough – Postecoglou

Fans of Nottingham Forest are beginning to understand how important it is to dominate games, create lots of chances, and ultimately fall short of winning.

Postecoglou has endured a terrible run since taking over as manager of his first home team, winning five games without winning in his fifth game. That is the result of his appointment on September 9.

Even the Australian was aware that his appointment was not exactly “love at first sight” as many Forest fans were concerned.

Fans who questioned the substitution of Nuno Espirito Santo to Postecoglou won’t have had their doubts squelched by Forest only drawing one point from games against two newly promoted teams, including a 1-1 draw at Burnley on September 20.

Forest managed 39 attempts in total in their two matches against Burnley and Sunderland, which underlines their goal issues.

After Sunderland fell, Postecoglou said, “We are simply not ruthless enough to turn our dominance into wins.”

“From our perspective, I must sort that out. The players are mentally sane and focused. In the last three and a half weeks, a lot has happened.

I’ve been saying that the players are accepting any changes they are making and that they can’t dwell on them.

The main issue is their inability to score goals, according to Postecoglou, who added that “we have the foundation to win games of football but we are not and we need to change that.”

According to the statistics, Postecoglou has already increased Nottingham Forest’s attack-mindedness over the course of Nuno’s tenure.

Before he was fired, the Portuguese coach’s side had 31 attempts on goal in their three Premier League games, including a game against Arsenal away, while their team had 44 attempts in Postecoglou’s three games so far this season, which includes an away game against Arsenal.

The key is turning those efforts into objectives, and some of those who have watched Forest under Postecoglou have faith in the future.
