Men’s Six Nations: Italy v Wales
Venue: Stadio Olimpico, Rome Date: Saturday, 8 February Kick-off: 14: 15 GMT
Aaron Wainwright is awaiting results from scans for a suspected broken cheekbone from France’s 43-0 hammering, which raises concerns for Wales’ Six Nations number eight.
Wainwright, 27, was substituted in the back row after being forced off in Paris on Friday night with the help of Tommy Reffell, who had joined captain Jac Morgan and James Botham in the fourth minute.
Taulupe Faletau, the back rower in Cardiff, injured his knee. The squad’s two specialist number eights are Wainwright and Faletau.
The 35-man squad has lock options for back-row players, including locks Christ Tshiunza and Freddie Thomas, while head coach Warren Gatland may add players from outside the squad like Josh Macleod, Taine Plumtree, Morgan Morse, or Taine Basham.
Owen Watkin, a Ospreys center, is expected to miss the remainder of the season due to a severe knee injury in Paris.
