Following the passing of former Liverpool manager Matt Beard, the Women’s Super League game at Aston Villa on Sunday was postponed.

The WSL stated in a statement that “a further announcement regarding the fixture rearrangement will be made in due course.”

In 2013, and 2014, Beard, 47, guided Liverpool to their first ever Champions League title, and he led the team to back-to-back WSL titles.

He was appointed again in 2021 and helped the Reds reclaim their position as manager until February, helping them to finish seventh overall.

Liverpool praised “an extremely committed and successful manager” in a statement released on Saturday.

He was a person of genuine integrity and warmth, and everyone he worked for at the club will always remember him with genuine fondness. Please rest in peace, Matt.

Beard took over as manager of Burnley in June, but he left after only two months.

It was also confirmed that West Brom’s Women’s National League game against Burnley had been postponed on Sunday.
