The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has , banned 60000-litre petrol tankers from operating on roads in the country.
In recent months, there have been numerous fuel tanker accidents in Nigeria.
However, Ogbugo Ukoha, the NMDPRA Executive Director of Distribution Systems, Storage, and Retailing Infrastructure, stated that the 60000-litre tanker ban will start effective on March 1, 2025.

Trucks with a capacity of more than 60 000 litres will not be permitted to load in any petroleum-related loading depot starting on March 1, 2025, according to Ukoha in a briefing held on Wednesday in Abuja.
We will also prohibit any truck over 45 000 litres from loading or moving petroleum products by Q4 of 2025. That is today’s breaking news.
