Ayotunde Ogunleye, a senior advocate in Nigeria, has criticized #FreeNnamdiKanu protesters for abusing a valid court order that restrains demonstrations in some areas of Abuja.
Citizens must follow court orders, even when they disagree with them, the senior lawyer said on Tuesday during a discussion on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
Even if you don’t agree with it, a court order must be followed. The constitution allows you to go to the court to set it aside, he said on the current affairs program.
Ogunleye argued that courts have the power to impose limitations on fundamental rights in the public interest as well as the constitution, which guarantees them.

He believes that violating judicial orders violates the rule of law and national institutions.
Instead of taking to the streets, the SAN argued that protesters should have protested the order legally. He also advised people who wanted to release Nnamdi Kanu should look into the legal options available to them.
