Vicario booers ‘can’t be true Spurs fans’ – Frank

Tottenham Hotspur supporters booed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, but manager Thomas Frank later said, “They can’t be true Tottenham fans.”

Fulham, Spurs’ 10th Premier League home defeat since 2025, conceded twice in the opening six minutes to lose 2-1.

However, Vicario’s mistake caused Fulham to score twice before the main conversation turned to the second goal.

He faced a long ball and headed toward the touchline after coming out.

The Italian turned and attempted to clear the ball, but slipped as Harry Wilson skimmed the ball off, and Josh King controlled it.

WIlson, a Wales midfielder, curled a shot into the goal from the 36.6-meter touchline, King laying the ball off.

Some Spurs fans booed Vicario moments later when the ball hit him once more.

At half-time, when the club was leading by 2-0, and once more at full-time, the team was booed off.

Frank was really irritated by one of those booings.

The Dane described the fans’ reactions to his goalkeeper as “I heard some of our fans apparently booed the incident and booed afterwards, which is completely unacceptable,” he told BBC Sport.

They can’t be genuine Tottenham supporters, they say. No problem, there is enough booing after the game, but when we are playing, we are supporting one another and moving forward.

Before Wilson’s strike, with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Spurs in a better second-half performance, Kenny Tete had given Fulham a fourth-minute lead.

Joe Hart, a former Premier League goalkeeper, claimed the second goal was “completely avoidable.”

Hart continued, “I do understand the fans’ annoyance.” Vicario plays a role that I am aware of. You will ultimately be judged based on your actions, despite the fact that he is a great team player and a real leader in the dressing room.

Vicario, an international from Italy, is currently playing for Tottenham for the third time.

After the game, the 29-year-old admitted he had to accept the criticism.

He said, “I take responsibility for that because I made the mistake.”

I simply hit the ball badly because my goal was to clear the ball long. The mountain was even more challenging to climb.

He claimed that football requires being booed.

What can I say when I say, “I’m a big man”? “He continued,” he said. The current state of the stands cannot affect us. Fans have the authority to decide what they believe.

Wilson struggled to score the goal despite Vicario’s error.

It was Bournemouth’s second-longest-range Premier League goal of the season, just behind Tyler Adams’ 43.3-meter goal against Sunderland, which coincidentally happened on Saturday.

Wilson claimed he was surprised that Wilson still had a goal unfulfilled.

Five seconds after the clearance, Vicario’s release from his box and Wilson’s shooting were completed.

Wilson said, “I thought the goalkeeper was out of the box for ages.”

Everything seems to go against you when you’re in a bad spell, with Vic making a mistake and Vic making the second shot deflected.
