Vanessa Feltz has revealed that she has turned down multiple offers made by the BBC including Celebrity Masterchef as she feared she would be ‘dreadful’

She is certainly no stranger to putting herself forward for reality TV shows. But it looks as though there is one area that the This Morning presenter draws the line at – and that is a cooking show. And the BBC soon became aware of this after asking her to take part in Celebrity MasterChef multiple times.

Despite laying herself bare on Celebs Go Dating in the pursuit of finding love following her public split with ex Ben Ofoedu, the broadcaster was unable to convince Vanessa Feltz to show off her culinary skills.

Speaking to the Daily Star, she explained: “I turned down Celebrity Shark Tank, I’ve turned down MasterChef about 50 times. I’m not a good enough cook; I’m terrible. My cooking would be so appalling, I just couldn’t face it. I’d be dreadful!”

She added: “It would only be okay if you were secretly a good cook and you wanted to show off. My children, when they hear the microwave go ‘ping’, they say: ‘Ah, just like Mummy used to make’.”

Vanessa has appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2013 but years before her dancing debut, she became an icon thanks to her on-screen meltdown in 2001.

Speaking about her time on the show, she explained to the Express that she was the first housemate in the world to ignore the commands by Big Brother.

This came a year after she split from her husband as she agreed to join the show as part of Comic Relief. Speaking that moment she wrote in her memoir Vanessa Bares All: Frank, Funny and Fearless, she said: “I should have been able to keep a lid on my emotions but I couldn’t.”

She added: “Rapidly I spiralled into an emotional tailspin, and the fact that I happened to be wearing a leopard-print dressing-gown and black sunglasses indoors at the time added to the spectacle.”

Vanessa continued: “We’d been given chalk. I’d noticed the dining table was made of blackboard. I decided I’d write some appropriate words just to give myself something interesting to read later.”

Scribbling on the table with her piece of chalk, she remembers writing the words “IMMOLATED, ISO- LATED, INCARCERATED, IMMURED, DEFENESTRATED, LAMPOONED, DISTRAUGHT, FRAUGHT, ABASHED, DIS- COMBOBULATED.”

Vanessa, 63, currently hosts her own TV show on Channel 5 during the week at 12.30pm, which appears to be a roaring success as it has been renewed for another year.

And the TV personality, who first became a household name in 1994 hosting her talk show Vanessa, expressed her joy and “excitement” of being re-commissioned.

Vanessa has had a lot of guests on her show but it looks as though while she may have a few dream guests, she is simply happy to have interesting guests.

The TV hosts has now won awards since launching her own TV show including Best Talk Show at the National Reality TV Show Awards and she also received a nomination for the TV Choice Awards.

But it looks as though love is certainly not on the cards as her busy work schedule has taken over her life. She explained that she has been working seven days a week since March which included her talk show as well as her LBC show on the weekends.

She added: “I’ve been doing seven shows a week for the last 200-and-something days. Been quite busy, I am exhausted. It’s good fun, very good fun.”
