Four children were hurt in a car that struck crowds during the Premier League trophy parade on Monday in central Liverpool, which left about 50 people injured.
A 53-year-old British man has since been detained in Liverpool.
According to Steve Rotheram, mayor of Liverpool City Metro, four injured people are “very, very ill” in a hospital.
On social media, Van Dijk wrote, “My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected.”

Jurgen Klopp, the ex-manager of Liverpool, wrote on social media: “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who are hurt and impacted.”
At a news conference on Monday, Premier Sir Keir Starmer said, “Liverpool stands together and the entire country stands with them.”
Kenny Dalglish, an ex-Liverpool manager and player, described the incident as “shocked, horrified, and deeply saddened” by the former manager.

On Monday during the bank holiday, thousands of Liverpool supporters gathered on the side’s streets to celebrate their Premier League victory.
The parade was held on Water Street, but traffic was prevented there.
However, eyewitnesses claimed that the vehicle disregarded “road closed” warnings.
Around ten minutes after the bus carrying Liverpool’s players, staff, and the Premier League trophy had left, the car slammed into the supporters.
Police claim that the incident is not connected to terrorism.
