The Abuja-Kaduna route’s train operations have been suspended until further notice by the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC).
Kayode Opeifa, the NRC’s managing director, made the announcement while giving journalists a briefing in Abuja hours after the incident.  ,
According to Opeifa, the company’s technical staff is currently conducting an investigation at the train derailment site in addition to the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) and other relevant agencies.
He refuted claims that all passengers on board are being given refunds for their tickets and said the trains are in good condition.
At the Asham station, Idu train station, Abuja , the NRC boss also received some passengers.
Six passengers received minor injuries, according to Opeifa, and have since received medical attention. He did, however, claim that the precise passenger count hasn’t been determined yet.
