The University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan students are protesting peacefully against the persistent power cut, according to the minister of power, Bayo Adelabu.
IBEDC had been shut down by the hospital since October 2024 because of an alleged N500 million debt that had been outstanding.
The protesters demanded a 50% tariff reduction and a full reconnection of UCH as soon as possible, according to the protesters.

Adelabu also made a plea to the students to allow dialogue while proposing a truce between the IBEDC and UCH.
The students carried placards with different inscriptions such as, “+ 100 Days of Darkness: Save UCH, Save ABH Hall, Save Falade Hall, Give Us Light, This Is Not How We Want To Live, Medical School Is Hard Enough—Give Us Light, All We Are Saying, Give Us Light”, among others.
