Bly Twomey, a teen, and Will Bayley won their second gold medal at the ITTF European Para Table tennis Championships.

The 15-year-old won her first major title on Sunday at Helsingborg, Sweden, and followed it up with another gold.

In the final, British duo Twomey and Bayley defeated French duo Clement Berthier and Morgen Caillaud 11-4, 11-9, and 11-5.

After being defeated 3-1 by Juliane Wolf and Stephanie Grebe of Germany, Twomey and her partner Fliss Pickard had to settle for bronze in the women’s doubles class 14 to win.

After falling to Wolf in the final, Grace Williams also won silver in the women’s class eight singles.

It increased the British team’s medal total to 13, a number that included those won by Rob Davies, Tom Matthews, Chris Ryan, Martin Perry, Billy Shilton, Williams, Bishop, and Pickard earlier in the competition.

Twomey and Bayley first met at Brighton Table tennis Club in 2021, and two of her closest friends paid tribute to her influence on her career.

Will has always been my inspiration, and it’s amazing to work with such a talented player, Twomey said.

“I wouldn’t have thought it would happen if someone had told me at the beginning of this season that I would win two golds and one bronze at the Europeans.”
