Two Irish Premiership games postponed due to frozen pitches

BBC Sport

Two of Saturday’s Irish Premiership fixtures have been postponed due to frozen pitches.

Following the deluge of cold weather that this week caused parts of Northern Ireland to experience snow and ice, Ballymena United v. Glentoran at the Showgrounds and Glenavon v. Coleraine at Mourneview Park were both called off on Saturday morning.

The Sky Blues and the Glens met in the BetMcLean Cup on Tuesday night, when the match was switched to the Oval due to heavy snowfall in the Ballymena area, which made the Warden Street ground unplayable.

Following a pitch inspection at Mourneview Park on Saturday morning, the game between Glenavon and Coleraine was postponed.
