Trump’s World Open title defence ended by O’Connor

Defending champion Judd Trump has suffered a surprise loss in the last 32 at the World Open, losing 5-2 to Joe O’Connor in Yushan, China.
World number one Trump, 35, swept past China’s Long Zehuang 5-1 on Monday but could not replicate that form against fellow Englishman O’Connor.
O’Connor, 29, recorded five half-centuries and hit 113 to complete his victory.
O’Connor told the World Snooker Tour, “I enjoyed playing against the best player in the world.”
“Thank goodness it was my day. There’s no reason why I can’t go on and win it”.
Shaun Murphy, the eighth-seeded player remaining, is the highest-ranked player in the standings following Kyren Wilson’s 5-4 defeat by Zhou Yuelong.
