Charlie Kirk, the right-wing activist and founder of Turning Point USA, was to be honored at a memorial service in Arizona on Wednesday. He was shot dead.

More than 63, 000 spectators will be able to watch the event at Glendale’s State Farm Stadium on Sunday. According to organizers, more space has been set up nearby to accommodate overflow crowds.

The gathering, which Turning Point USA has titled Building a Legacy: Remembering Charlie Kirk, will feature President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and a number of other Republicans. Erika, the organization’s new chief executive, is also scheduled to address the event.

Before setting out for Arizona, where Turning Point USA is headquartered, Trump declared, “We’re going to celebrate the life of a great man today.”

Phil Lavelle of Al Jazeera in Glendale stated that it was “impossible to say how many people will be here because this is not a ticketed event, people were just asked to register online.”

However, a woman we spoke to recently claimed that the large number of people attending had hindered her chances of entering.

The service was deemed to be of “the highest highest national significance,” a designation typically reserved for occasions like the Super Bowl, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Due to Trump’s attendance and the political unrest surrounding Kirk’s death, officials claim tight security measures are in place.

Kirk, 31, was killed on September 10 at a university in Utah. A 22-year-old suspect was charged with murder, claiming that Kirk was killed because he had “enough of his hate.”

At the US-Mexico border, Kirk was a polarizing figure who advocated for the use of tear gas, rubber bullets, and whips against immigrants, made the claim that there was “no factual evidence to support global warming,” and called for the use of tear gas.

Kirk, a key figure in the Trump movement, was viewed by the US right-wing as a significant figure who helped young people support the US president and conservative causes.

“Charlie Kirk was seen as someone who really managed to sway the youth vote through this, leveraging and using Tik Tok to spread his message,” Lavelle said. “Social media plays such an integral role in politics.

Despite law enforcement refuting claims of a wider alleged assassination plot, Trump has been accused of using Kirk’s murder to gain political advantage by fusing it with what he calls “left-wing extremism.” Those who claimed he had stoked political unrest have criticized his statements.
