Lei Peifan of China defeated world number one Judd Trump to advance to the Players Championship quarter-final.

The turning point came in the sixth frame when Lei missed what appeared to be an easy shot to level 3-3 thanks to England’s Trump’s clinical display on the show table in Telford.

Trump then made the most of his top break, which came in at 139, over the course of his final three frames.

Murphy, meanwhile, rallied to a strong performance from fellow Englishman Barry Hawkins for the win, 6-4.

Hawkins fought back from a 3-0 deficit to bring the score to 4-4, but Murphy kept his cool and won the game with a 123 break.

After coming from behind to defeat Stuart Bingham, the man Robertson beat 10-0 in the most recent World Grand Prix final, Mark Selby will face him in the final eight.
