Trump says ‘days numbered’ for Venezuela’s Maduro

President Donald Trump has slammed the possibility of American military action in Venezuela, rejecting any suggestion of “war” but threatening the nation’s leader.

The president warned that President Nicolas Maduro’s days are overnumbered during a CBS interview that was made public on Sunday. The US has increased its military presence in the Caribbean, where it has repeatedly attacked alleged drug traffickers, which UN officials and scholars claim are in grave violation of both US and international law.

Trump responded, “I doubt it,” when asked if the US waswaging war against Venezuela. Not in my opinion.

However, when asked if Maduro’s presidency was over, the president responded, “I would say yes. “Yes,” I believe.

In response to reports from US media outlets that Washington is planning to launch strikes on Venezuelan military installations as part of its “narco-terror” campaign.

Trump made an apparent defense of his assertion that he was planning attacks inside Venezuela, though he did not completely reject the notion.

He said, “I wouldn’t be inclined to say that I would do that.” I won’t disclose my intentions regarding Venezuela.

Maduro, who is facing drug trafficking charges in the US, has accused Washington of using a drug war as a pretext to “impeach regime change” in Caracas to seize Venezuelan oil.

At least 65 people have been killed in recent weeks due to the US military’s more than a dozen strikes on ships in the Caribbean and the Pacific. Governments in the area have voiced their opposition to the campaign.

Even though the attacks target well-known traffickers, according to UN human rights chief Volker Turk and rights organizations, they are “extrajudicial killings.”
