In Bethpage Black, there was a partisan atmosphere when US President Donald Trump arrived to watch the Ryder Cup fourballs on day one.

At around 11:00 EDT (16:00 BST), Air Force One flew over the course just outside of New York and made its landing at a nearby airport.

Trump, a pro-golfer and fan, showed up on the course 45 minutes later and waved to the crowds. Some of the crowds chanted his name along with “U-S-A,” while others booed.

After the foursomes, a fan claimed that Trump should have brought his clubs with him after Europe was 3-1 up on the USA.

Trump remarked to reporters as he left the Air Force One, “I think we’ll be alright.” “All great golfers,”

His granddaughter Kai, who is a skilled amateur golfer who will play at the University of Miami in 2026, accompanied him.

Trump’s visit to the US Secret Service, CIA, and FBI were reportedly involved in a cross-agency operation, and security had significantly increased.

Due to extra security measures in place for a president’s visit, the US Open men’s tennis final was delayed by 30 minutes earlier this month.

Trump sat in front of what appeared to be a special kind of protective plastic glass, which had been assembled near the first tee, near a grandstand.

The 79-year-old saluted as military aircraft flew over the Star-Spangled Banner before being introduced to the audience via the public address system.

After greeting American captain Keegan Bradley, Trump animatedly chatted with USA teammate Bryson DeChambeau at the first tee box before leaving the security area.

Trump and DeChambeau have previously played golf together, with the 32-year-old two-time major winner backing the Republican’s presidential campaign.

DeChambeau expressed his hope that Trump’s presence would “inspire” the United States to defeat Europe in the 45th Ryder Cup in the lead-up to the competition.
