In the fifth round of the English Open, world number one Jackson Page lost to Jackson Page, while world number one Judd Trump lost to Elliot Slessor 4-3.
Slessor, who is 23rd in the world, helped by a 67-break break to take the lead into Thursday’s afternoon session at the Brentwood Centre.
Trump reeled off the next three frames with two half-centuries as he struggled to make it to the semi-finals this year.
With a 64-run single, Slessor forced a decider by putting together a 79-run break to advance to the quarter-finals against Mark Allen or Ding Junhui.
In the process, Page, the reigning Masters champion, came back from 3-1 down to 3-3 and broke records of 93 and 102.
Welshman Page won the matchup with Wu Yize or Mark Selby, but both players had other chances in the seventh frame.
