Troops Nab Suspected ISWAP Member, Kidnapping Syndicate In Taraba

In separate operations within the Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, terrorists from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA) and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) detained two suspected terrorists.

Felix Myina, a native of the Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, was arrested by troops stationed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Wukari in response to reliable intelligence.

According to preliminary investigations, the suspect is a senior member of a well-known bandit and kidnapping syndicate that operates under the pseudonym Mcianan, also known as Yellow.

According to a press release from the 6 Brigade Public Relations Officer, Captain Olubodunde Oni, the group claims that along the Jootar–Wukari axis, drivers and residents have been a significant threat.

At the time of the arrest, the suspect had a Tecno mobile phone.

In a related development, vigilant troops responding to Wukari town’s imminent threat of terrorist attacks also detained a alleged ISWAP member.

Abubakar Yusuf, a 26-year-old Borno State native who lives in the Gassol Local Council of Taraba, was detained while performing strange rituals at the Aku-Uka Palace Junction, one of the locations where ISWAP attacks are most likely to take place.

He allegedly made an effort to “spiritually tie” the town to make it easier for other terrorists to gain access.

One dead chicken, nine unhatched rotten eggs, one animal horn, and a bottle of powdered material and pieces of fresh meat are among the items he recovered.

Both suspects are awaiting release and are providing pertinent information.

Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, the commander of the 6th Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, applauded the troops’ vigilance and the cooperation of locals who reported suspicious movements.

Uwa urged the general public to remain vigilant about security and to continue providing timely information to aid the military and other security forces’ efforts to remove criminal elements from Taraba State.
